If it is a business looking e-mail or from someone I don’t know it gets zapped ASAP !! Anything that looks annoying or like a scam gets zapped as well. My newsletters from authors go into the folders I have for each of them.

Another folder I have is for e-mails from the Beau Monde loop that answer questions I might be able to use at a later date or for those that list research books. I am a complete SLUT for Regency research books and info.

My favorite e-mails are from my critique partner, my writing buddies/author friends or anything that tells me something great is going on at one of my favorite blogs.

I also love e-mails from my family and friends. I have friends all over the world so e-mail is a real blessing to all of us. After 9/11 my e-mail box was STUFFED with e-mails from my friends in Europe, Australia, and Asia. For many people overseas the concept of how big this country is doesn’t always compute. So, I get e-mails after every major event and I love it. Not to mention the fact that we (especially my opera singing compadres) are terrible gossips and very nosy. We “get into each other’s business” on a regular basis via e-mail!

I am a remorseless zapper, I have made my adjustments to zappage without guilt. Send me a FW and your gone before I can read “Couldn’t resist. Too cute!” My grand-daughters are too cute but I bet Margaret would prefer Big O over them, she would be wrong but so it goes. If it starts with Dear Beloved in Christ, outa here. Anyone who knows me knows I’m a non-Christian so Christ and I don’t chat all that much anymore, don’t send me the message that you want to share your millions with me because we have the same beliefs.

I love email from family and friends, except when Mom FW’s stuff. She does know enough NOT to FW any from my cousin Jean because our political views are so far apart I’m amazed we are in the same gene pool.

now I feel left out that I only have two email addies. one from home and one i use to gather my home ones while I’m out.
I do alot of facebook emails now with friends. our Fairy Princess party for 2010 is starting to plan, so a lot of fb notes are flitting through the country

I have been a bad girl and not checked 3 out of my 4 e-mail addresses since sometime in January. My first address is work (it is the only one I’ve been reading). The second address I got before I got internet, I can access it anywhere. Now I use it to send messages when I’m traveling and most of my author newsletters are sent to it. The third I got from the phone company when I signed up for internet. It is my official e-mail address. Since I never changed the password from the one assigned, I can’t remember it, so I do not check it when I travel. Outlook Express has the password saved on my computer. The fourth address I got basically for junk e-mail, when you get sucked into voting for something on the internet and they want an addess to send a confirmation, I use it.

One person that usually sends good e-mails, I can’t send to others. For some reason the e-mails always have the photos missing. It does not matter which address he sends them to, they are always gone. Rather a bummer since many of my contacts would enjoy the patriotic e-mails.

Well, I am on my computer all day at work, so I don’t spend too much time on it at home, and what little time I do spend, I don’t want to read a katrillion jokes.

My best friend (who is a domestic goddess) sends approx 10 emails “fwd” at a time and I will pick one with the best subj line, read it, possibly comment back to her, and then zap the rest. That way, her feelings are not hurt and I can move on quickly.

The chain mails can actually be intrusive, if the sender of the original has a cookie or java or tracker on there…or whatever its called…I zap ALL chain letters. Hate them.

Yes, Judy, that bugs me too! Especially when I’m on digest. I get the entire digest!

Unfortunately the e-mail program I use automatically copies everything before, so I have to take the trouble to select and delete all the stuff I don’t want, and sometimes that’s just too much trouble.

But maybe I ought to be more considerate of my recipients since I’m whining about the extraneous stuff I get *G*.

LOL, KarenR!! And I joined you in your rant. That’s one of the great things about TGB — just typing out my feelings helps me get stuff off my chest so I can concentrate on other things.

Amy, it’s so wonderful that with the Internet, you don’t have to miss quite so much of your young niece’s growing up years.
