I'm voting for Avatar. Yes, the story line was simplistic and preachy but who didn't leave the theater just dreaming about being one of those beautiful blue creatures ? Any movie that ignites my imagination and gives me something to dream about is a winner in my book.

I HATE TO SAY THIS, BUT I DIDN'T SEE NONE OF THE MOVIES THAT ARE NOMINATED. I WANTED TO SEE

PRECIOUS, BUT THE MOVIE WAS AT LIMITED THEATERS. I AGREE WITH ALL THE NOMINEES, AND OF COURSE I'M

PULLING FOR MONIQUE AND GABBY TO WIN, BUT MERYL, HELEN AND SANDRA WOULD BE AN EXCELLENT CHOICE

TO WIN THE OSCARS. I JUST LOVE MERYL STREEP. SHE'S SUCH A GREAT ACTRESS, AND HELEN MIRREN IS JUST

AWESOME. HAPPY V-DAY!!!!

I can't remember the last time I saw a movie in a theater. I never agree with these so called experts, so they never sway my opinion anyway.

I absolutely HATED Inglorious Basterds..... Hated it. I should have known better because I don't usually like Quinten T's movies. Oh, well at least was only a rental and not a full priced movie ticket. Loved the Blind Side, what a heart warming movie! LOVED AVATAR!

I hear you about No Country for Old Men. That movie was just WAYYY out there. I usually dont like any Oscar movies they are usually the ones that critics LOVE and that I just...dont get. lol I have seen three of the ones that are nominated. District 9 I am sorry I just thought was REALLY Wierd. Up I loved and my 3 yr old watches it over & over & I always sit through some of it with her. It just catches my heart and imagination. Thats how I want to be when I get old. lol And AVATAR....Oh Wow is all I can say I was expecting to hate it & wound up loving every last minutes of the 2 hr 45 minute long movie. Had a GREAT story line for us green fans. I left the theater with a smile on my face. Even though it wasnt real I really enjoyed the story and the scenery was worth the time alone. The things they can do with computers these days is amazing! I missed out on Blind Side EVERY time I went to try to see it the thing was sold out so I wait with Baited breath for it to come out on DVD.

I would have to say that I think the Hurt Locker was the best and most riviting movie I have seen this year. It probably won't win the BIG one as it was not really publicized alot or pushed by the press, a real look at what the men & wemon on our front lines in such a dangerous job go through in the war, it is action from beginning to end and will have you on the edge of your seats. I would have to say Hollywood will probably give the BIG one to Avitar as it was very publicized & pushed by the press and many people went to see it. The Romantic in me votes for Young Victoria!

How many of the nominated movies have you seen?
Avatar – LOVED IT. Saw it four times, going from regular to 3-D IMAX (the best way to see it in true 3-D, OMGosh). I liked the plot. I like the action, romance, drama, and of course the moral. Few stories have morals like take care of mother nature or she may spank you.

District 9 – "Emperor's new clothes"

Up – Like a GOOD Disney film, I cried, laughed hardily, hummed the music, and realized that I have had some of these characters in my life.

Have not seen: The Blind Side/ inglorious Basterds / An Education / The Hurt Locker / Precious / Up in the Air
A Serious Man

Avatar gets my vote.
