Fun Contest Saturday!
Jan 23rd 2010
Your Friendly GoddessesGoddess Grins
Its time for another Fun Contest Saturday! This month we have THREE releases to celebrate. It’s a Mt. Oly reading-palossa! This past week Sabrina gave us The Truth About Lord Stoneville. This coming Tuesday Madeline will deliver Ravishing in Red and Nicole will offer us To Tame a Dangerous Lord.

This month we’re going to play one of my favorite games. We’re going to write The Truth about The Ravishing Lord one sentence at a time.
Here are the rules:
- You may add as many lines as you’d like to but add only one line at a time.
- Please allow at least one other person to add a line after you.
- Please be a good sport and go with the flow of the story.
- You must include one word from one of the three titles or one of our Goddesses names in your line. Those words include the, truth, about, lord, Stoneville, ravishing, in, red, to, tame, a, dangerous, duke, Sabrina, Madeline or Nicole.
- Each contributor’s name will only go in the drawing one time.
- The contest ends at Midnight EST, Saturday, January 23.
- One winner will be chosen at random and announced on Monday, January 25.
The prize you ask? We’ll award one winner an awesome packet of books. She’ll win signed copies of To Romance a Charming Rogue by Nicole Jordan, Beware a Scots Revenge by Sabrina Jeffries and The Sins of Lord Easterbrook by Madeline Hunter!
To kick off The Truth About The Ravishing Lord, here is the beginning of the story: Even from across the crowded ballroom, I could see the truth in his eyes. Lord Marly was the one guilty of ravishing Madeline.
Have fun ladies!

I had first heard Amelia Stoneville say it but I couldn’t believe it because what from I’d heard before I thought Lord Marly had to be a very nice and proper young man.
Emmanuelle on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:13 am #
But the truth was there, glinting in his eyes, just for me to see.
Laurie G on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:29 am #
Last Saturday,I had attended the Smithfield’s ball and worn a stunningly gorgeous red gown.
Emmanuelle on 23 Jan 2010 at 6:04 am #
Amelia, Madeline and I had been at the punch table, discussing this very same dress, when Lord Marly had come and greeted us, very properly of course.
Angie on 23 Jan 2010 at 7:32 am #
When Lord Marly greeted us, there was a dangerous twist in his smile.
Kim on 23 Jan 2010 at 7:36 am #
Excellent ladies!! Keep it going!
GSM on 23 Jan 2010 at 8:23 am #
But it was clear that he wasn’t smiling at us, but across the room as Sabrina entered on the arm of Lord Stoneville.
dbrown3400 on 23 Jan 2010 at 8:28 am #
Stoneville looked magnificent as usual, and Lady Sabrina was pure confection in a red gown bedecked with jewels.
Deb H. on 23 Jan 2010 at 8:46 am #
However, as much as red is a daring color to wear, Lady Nicole, truth be told, looked stunning in her purple gown on the arm of the dangerous Lord Huntington.
Maureen on 23 Jan 2010 at 8:50 am #
Lord Manly was playing a dangerous game, making his interest in Lady Sabrina known in front of Stoneville.
dbrown3400 on 23 Jan 2010 at 9:09 am #
Although this was Lady Madeline’s first Season, she caught not only the eye of Lord Marly but now Stoneville was looking in her direction much to the dismay of Lady Sabrina.
Trini on 23 Jan 2010 at 9:34 am #
Then the two men are watched one other challenging until Lady Sabrina broke the tension taking dancing to Lord Stonville
Emmanuelle on 23 Jan 2010 at 9:52 am #
I can’t help but smile, thinking about this moment… two young puppies fighting over a juicy bone.
Candy on 23 Jan 2010 at 9:58 am #
The was dangerous truth about the lady in the ravishing red gown, was known only by the tame Lord Stoneville.
Emmanuelle on 23 Jan 2010 at 10:06 am #
Of course, even our shy and proper Madeline couldn’t but notice such blatant interest, and from two of the most coveted men in the ballroom.
Trini on 23 Jan 2010 at 10:30 am #
So the truth is that Madeline had serious doubts, because both ravishing men did beat her heart, organ which was about to pull up by Lady Sabrina
Emmanuelle on 23 Jan 2010 at 10:38 am #
“Have you seen how this… woman is looking at me ?” she told me, with a mixture of fear and excitement in her voice.
Karyn Gerrard on 23 Jan 2010 at 10:38 am #
Lord Marly turned his heated gaze back toward the wide-eyed Madeline, her cheeks flushed under the rakish scrutiny.
Jim on 23 Jan 2010 at 10:52 am #
The Lord may get stones in the ville if he’s not careful be Freddy.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 11:07 am #
Lord Marly noticed her hesitate and gently touched her arm. “Would you like to take a stroll around the room?” he asked Madeline.
Emmanuelle on 23 Jan 2010 at 11:12 am #
“With pleasure, my Lord “, she said taking his arm.
Kasey on 23 Jan 2010 at 11:17 am #
She gave him a ravishing smile, as he led her about the room, but that smile prompted him to stir her towards the doors leading to the gardens.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 11:22 am #
“You might introduce yourself,” he said She stopped walking to answer him. “Madeline Thomas.”
jackie on 23 Jan 2010 at 11:26 am #
Madeline had been warned about the garden walks, they were dangerous, and on the arm of a man like Lord Marly she knew she must be on guard.
Angela on 23 Jan 2010 at 11:31 am #
Madeline hesitated just for a second knowing she was with the dashing yet dangerous Lord Marly.
Emmanuelle on 23 Jan 2010 at 11:42 am #
“So your Lord Clayborne’s little sister, interesting.”
Carlaree on 23 Jan 2010 at 11:58 am #
Across the garden, Lady Nicole witnessed the meeting, noting the gleam in Marly’s eye. Trouble’s brewing, she thought.
Kim on 23 Jan 2010 at 12:20 pm #
Wonderful!
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 12:38 pm #
Just then Sabrina managed to push her way to Lord Marly’s other arm.
Madeline Hunter on 23 Jan 2010 at 12:38 pm #
Hey, I got ravished!!!!!!! oh, you mean it was another Madeline? well, pooh.
Madeline Hunter on 23 Jan 2010 at 12:47 pm #
Get out there, Sabrina. Man, just when things were getting interesting with Lord Marly and me–um, I mean the other Madeline, you come butting in. . .
Kimmy Lane on 23 Jan 2010 at 1:00 pm #
Madeline was dimly aware that Sabrina was there. She turned to Lord Marly and smiled prettily up at him and asked him for a drink because she felt a headache coming on.
Sabrina Jeffries on 23 Jan 2010 at 1:09 pm #
I know! I’m a buttinski that way. But hey, I’m not going to let YOU get the cute guy when I could. *G*
Marsha G. on 23 Jan 2010 at 1:34 pm #
Lady Nicole pondered at the sight of the Lady Sabrina and Madeline. Those two are in way over their head.
Nicole Jordan on 23 Jan 2010 at 1:39 pm #
Yep, Marsha, I agree, lol.
I’m willing to fight you both for those wicked lords, Lady Madeline and Lady Sabrina! You’d better watch out. I’m wearing a purple gown, which means I’m not much of a young lady.
Kimmy Lane on 23 Jan 2010 at 1:40 pm #
Lord Manly looked down at Madeleines rosy red lips and wondered what it would be like to kiss them. It was as if Sabrina wasn’t even there.
Marsha G. on 23 Jan 2010 at 1:55 pm #
Lady Nicole, being a little dangerous herself, decided to take matters into her own hand to get those two virginal girls out of her way.
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 2:03 pm #
Lord Marly, I heard your sister Marcia just eloped with a red-haired footman!
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 2:11 pm #
Oh, the shame of a dangerous truth! Lord Marly blushed an unbecoming shade of purple, which almost, but not quite, matched Lady Nicole’s gown.
(sorry, should have included this with the last post.)
Kimmy Lane on 23 Jan 2010 at 2:17 pm #
He turned to both ladies and said “Ladies if you will excuse us Lady Madeleine and I were about to take a stroll.”
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 2:25 pm #
Lady Sabrina adjusted her neckline to better showcase what she considered her best assets, while Lady Nicole discreetly signaled to Lady Sabrina’s and Lady Madeline’s mothers that a rescue was needed; after which she stated, most loudly, “After your sister was so untamed as to elope; you, sir, need a chaperone. I and Lady Sabrina will chaperone you with Lady Madeline so that no ravishing will take place tonight!”
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 2:30 pm #
His eyes blazed at Lady Nicole, with great effort he answered “Fine.” He closed his eyes and prayed for strngth. He had never wanted a woman as much as he wanted Madeleine.
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 2:37 pm #
But now, he knew that Madeline’s family, sticklers for propriety, would never countenance any sort of connection to his sister’s scandal. Lady Violet, formerly bethrothed to Lord Stoneville, a Duke, had now become the commoner Mrs. Twigg. Why couldn’t the silly chit have waited a week longer to elope?
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 2:43 pm #
He might be tainted from the scandal of his sister, but he knew instantly that this was the woman for him. He had been with women such as Lady Sabrina and beautiful though they are, they were not wife material. Not for him anyway.
Marsha G. on 23 Jan 2010 at 2:44 pm #
Lady Nicole thought to herself,”This could be fun!”
Lord Marly led the way onto the garden path, but just as they began Lady Madeline’s mother, she was trailed by Lady Sabrina’s mother, stepped onto the patio and announced that it was time to for Lady Sabrina and Madeline to go. Lady Madeline and excused herself and left with her mother. Lady Sabrina looked over her shoulder and mouthed,”I’m sorry” to Lord Marly. Marly nodded to them as they left, then turned angrily to Lady Nicole standing off to the side. If he weren’t so angry he might have noticed how beautiful she looked standing in the moonlight.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 2:48 pm #
Lord Marly would just have to toe the line and stay at a safe distance from Lady Madeleine until the rumors dies down. He also could not let her get to close to him while he was searching for the man who was trying to kill him.
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 2:50 pm #
Lady Nicole tapped her foot impatiently. “If you really love my cousin, you’ll need my help. What? You didn’t know about it? That the ravishing Lady Madeline is my cousin on my Mother’s side?”
Marsha G. on 23 Jan 2010 at 2:51 pm #
Innocently, Nicole murmered, “I’m sorry that your plans have changed.” Lord Marly grabbed her arm and said, “Come with me!” but not before he noticed how absolutely lovely she looked standing in the moonlight. Nicole stumbled as he drug her along. She was no fool, she notice the dangerous gleam in his eye.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 2:53 pm #
The truth was that he would have to play the rogue until this was over and hope that Lady Madeleine would still be there and would forgive him.
Is he attached to anyone? he asked Lady Nicole who was looking so jealous he thought her eyeballs would bulge out. “Hmmm”.”he thought this could be very interesting. He could stay close to Lady Nicole and keep tabs on MAdeleine while he fished out the killer.
Madeline Hunter on 23 Jan 2010 at 2:53 pm #
Okay, how did Madeline end up with her mother before things got hot with Lord Marly? Where is the editor? Revisions! Revisions!
Amy on 23 Jan 2010 at 2:58 pm #
“You may be some use to me yet” Lord Marly turned heated eyes on the Lady Nicole. Lady Nicole bit her bottom lip in anticipation.
Marsha G. on 23 Jan 2010 at 3:03 pm #
Lady Nicole cautiously asked,”How?”
She secretly wanted to really be alone with Lord Marly. Nicole was desperately seeking a relationship with a real man, a friend and lover. If she played her cards right…
Amy on 23 Jan 2010 at 3:07 pm #
“I need time alone with your cousin, the Lady Madeline, and you can be our cover.” Lord Marly started to outline his plan to the lady Nicole. What he failed to notice was that Lord Stoneville was listening to every word.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 3:13 pm #
“What do you mean cover?” My brother will never let you have Madelein. But of course this could play to my advantage, Nicole thought. I could let Madeleine think that Marly and I are together and then he will be mine.
Marly had his own ideas. Nicole was a beautiful woman but a fling was not what he wanted. He wanted Madeleine but he needed to find the killer and fast.
Marsha G. on 23 Jan 2010 at 3:16 pm #
Nicole was no fool. She knew Marley wasn’t interested in her yet. Maybe she could help him catch the killer and see she was the woman for him.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 3:16 pm #
He continued walking with Nicole when his attention was caught by a long, lean figure walking toward Madeleine and her mother. Who was that and where did he come from? “Nicole,” said Lord Marly “who is that fellow talking to your sister in law?”
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 3:22 pm #
“She’s my cousin, not my sister” you nimwit, she added mentally. So much for Lord Marly to be a friend and lover. His intelligence, in truth, left much behind in the dangerous gaming hells he’d been frequenting. “And the tall man is the heir to the Duke of Buckingham, Lord Henry Verlane.”
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 3:25 pm #
Madeleine peeked past her mother and saw Lord Marly watching them. She thought of his broad shoulders and wondered what it would be like to rest her head on them. He probably didn’t even notice her when he had beautiful ravishing women like Sabrina and Nicole around. She wished that she were as beautiful then he might notice her.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 3:32 pm #
The Duke eyed the petite blue-eyed hellion. She would do nicely, he thought. He would court her and ask for her hand in marriage. Her inheritance from her grandmother would come in very handy indeed.
Marsha G. on 23 Jan 2010 at 3:38 pm #
Nicole added, “He is broke. My cousin wants the title, so …. He is your competion” Why were the handsome men so stupid sometimes? Why couldn’t she meet a man who could love her and be a challenge.
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 3:39 pm #
(Madeline, is this better? We got you a good-looking Duke’s heir to replace the bad boy.)
Nicole Jordan on 23 Jan 2010 at 3:40 pm #
ROFL! Y’all are exellent story-tellers, even if Lady Madeline thinks some editing is needed *smirk*.
What I want to know is, will we ever discover the meaning of the tale’s title — THE TRUTH ABOUT THE RAVISHING LORD? Is there some big dark secret here?
Marsha G. on 23 Jan 2010 at 3:42 pm #
(Nicole, we need to get you some action)
Nicole sighed and scanned the room, only the usual pretty boys in attendance. She was only 3 and twenty, but sometimes felt ancient and weary.
Nicole Jordan on 23 Jan 2010 at 3:43 pm #
Oh, and I’m really glad Lady Nicole is no fool. I don’t mind being an ugly witch, but I want my character to have a few brains, thank you very much.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 3:44 pm #
Marly nodded at Stoneville. He turned to Nicole and bid her goodnight. Lady Nicole, miffed decided it was time to put a plan in motion. She would be damned if her cousin landed Marly, he was hers. The Duke was looking more and more interesting. She had heard some crude things about him but hey they were just rumors. She would have to get him and Madeleine together.
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 3:48 pm #
With her lovely face, and an inheritance equal to Lady Madeline’s (they shared the same Grandmother, after all), Lady Nicole thought she should be able to find a not-so-tame, intelligent man who would actually want her. Ah, there was the interesting, recently widowed Mr. Randolph Stoneville. With an insincere apology, she left Lord Manly in thwarted, misplaced jealousy and strolled back into the ballroom.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 3:51 pm #
Later at the gentlemen’s club Marly met up with his friends. Lord Lucien, Kit, Duke of Hawkscliff, Sir Alexander and of course Lord Stoneville. He sat down and wondered at the dangerous game they played here. But they had to find the killer
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 3:53 pm #
Nicole decided that Mr. Stoneville, that debauched man, was bound to know the dreadful secret that was the Truth About the Ravishing Lord Manly.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 4:03 pm #
If anyone knew the truth about him and his friends there would be hell to pay. Stonveille looked at him and told it was time to set the trap. The plan had to be put in motion now before it was too late.
Angela on 23 Jan 2010 at 4:07 pm #
Nicole, being no dummy, decided to ply Mr. Stoneville with some brandy in order for him to spill the truth about Lord Marly. After 1 or 2, or was it 3, she had lost count. Mr. Stoneville says Luke I am your father. Okay wrong genre, but a little humor to break the tension. Mr. Stoneville breaks down and says…
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 4:08 pm #
nothing…. He passed out on the red carpet.
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 4:08 pm #
Meanwhile, back at the ballroom, Lord Stoneville’s drunken cousin, Randolph Stoneville, was spilling the secret to everyone within hearing distance, including Lady Nicole, Lady Sabrina, all the servants, and all the parents of the eligible young ladies (with the exception of Lady Madeline, her mother, and Lord Henry Verlane who were still in the garden.) Randolph, drunk as usual, did not realize how loud his voice had become, or that the biggest gossips in London would repeat his secret to the rest of the city before sunrise.
Madeline Hunter on 23 Jan 2010 at 4:09 pm #
I will settle for the relative of the duke. I mean Madeline will.
Just I started out thinking I was getting ravished, then I got stuck with mom. Well, you know. . . .
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 4:10 pm #
Poor Marly and Stoneville. Neither knew that their secret was out and that their cover was about to blown.
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 4:18 pm #
(Kinda makes the killer a moot point)
The truth is, young Lady, that Lord Marly is built like a Bull, so he likes to behave like one. The color red drives him mad… red lips, a red dress, and any gentleman who wears red pants, all are likely to be ravished… You are so smart to have worn purple this evening, you look lovely, my dear… Oh, where was I? Yes the red thing. Lord Manly went after the Earl of Whitechapel’s nephew las week, red pants, you know, and now the Earl wants Manly to become a steer, if you know what I mean. Rum luck, huh?
At that, Mr. Stoneville passed out in an ungraceful heap upon the parquet.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 4:20 pm #
Madeleine sat their wide eyed. Oh no what will my parents say when the secret reaches their ears.
But which secret was Mr. Stonevill telling? Marly’s secret or the secret that Marly and his friends had?
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 4:28 pm #
Whew, thought Lady Sabrina. Close call, that. Now I just need to make sure that Lord Stoneville proposes to me before His secret comes out. Tomorrow at Lord Whifflebottom’s Garden Party will be the prefect place to stage a proposal. (so she plotted)
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 4:34 pm #
“Lord Stonville and Lord Marly both stood up to leave. Tomorrow everyone knows what to do. Let’s meet back here tomorrow evening.” Marly told everyone as he was leaving. Marly turned to Stoneville and asked what was on his mind. Stoneville looked at him and said “Oh nothing. Just another appointment I have to keep.”
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 4:35 pm #
That was a Perfect revenge, thought Lady Nicole. Now, if she only knew how to permanently sober Randolph Stoneville, he would make me a perfect husband. I always wanted to be a leader of the Gossip circuit, with all those dangerous truths floating about. She regarded Randolph openly. He makes me laugh, has good shoulders, decent health (other than the drinking), and a nice home here in Town. Yes, he’ll do.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 4:36 pm #
Stoneville was thinking about a certain lady in a red dress. If only he knew what she wanted. Or who.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 4:39 pm #
Lady Sabrina was outside waiting to get into her carriage when she was grabbed from behind. She wanted to scream but whoever was there stuffed a rag in her mouth.
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 4:41 pm #
ooh, how fun! a kidnapping!
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 4:44 pm #
Lady Sabrina’s mother set to screaming. Sabrina never knew how dangerously painful that scream could be at a close distance. With a shriek of his own, her captor dropped her onto the pavement and ran off.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 4:48 pm #
Lord Stoneville happened to be coming around the corner when he heard the scream. All he seen was red.
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 4:50 pm #
My dear, I’m so sorry, Sabrina’s mother said. Your Father’s secrets may get us all killed some day. By the way, you were ravishing tonight in your red gown. I do believe Lord Stoneville will offer for you soon.
Oh, Mama, do you really think so? Sabrina breathed.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 4:52 pm #
Huh?
Lord Stoneville got out and ran over to the women. When he noticed Sabrina lying there all scratched up his emotions were all over the place. “Who did this?” he yelled. “Who?” “I don’t know,” said a shaken Sabrina. He turned to her mother and told her he would be bringing Sabrina home.
Marsha G. on 23 Jan 2010 at 4:56 pm #
Stoneville scooped Sabrina up into his arms and carried her to his carriage. He told her that she would never be in danger again, meanwhile back in the garden…
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 4:59 pm #
Madeleine was dumbfounded. All the things she had found out tonight was a little too much. Now what to do about it. Could she love such a man. She had watched and admired him from a far for so long that she was surprised at how much she still wanted him. Could someone as handsome, rich, dangerous and callous as Marly want her/
Cathy Phillips on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:01 pm #
Did Lady Madeline have Lady Sabrina kidnapped? No, it was probably Lord Marly thought Lady Nicole.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:03 pm #
The entrance hall opened onto a raised dais, and as Marly stepped closer he could see down the sweeping staircase into a crush of glittering guests. The soft light from a thousand candles reflected back from the highly polished oak floor, casting a glow on the pale face of Madeleines.
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:03 pm #
Or would Madeline be better served by the handsome, and dull, Lord Henry? She wished she could discuss this with her Grandmother, but that dear lady had died last year, just before the dangerous rumors about the Stoneville family began circulating.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:05 pm #
The looks directed at him by some of the ladies as he walked down the staircase, made the evening’s escapades and the punishment worthwhile. Even at that age he was aware of the ladies’ interest in a good physique. Lady Nicole had winked at him in a most sultry manner when he nodded at her in passing. One week later she taught him the art of seduction.
Marsha G. on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:06 pm #
Verlane went to go get drinks for Madeleine and her mother. Madeleine’s mother turned to her and said, “Maddie, dear, do not be dense. Marly is NOT what we are looking for in a husband. The Duke’s grandson is kind, intelligent, and will be able to provide for you. He has the ability to turn a coin into a fortune. He is what you need. Don’t you like him? He is quite taken with you and wonderful on the eyes. And he will be a Duke. “
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:07 pm #
Marly searched the crowd. Dark eyes under a fringe of red curls caught his gaze. Lord, she was a beauty—a pouty beauty. As he began to look away, he noticed the girl wetting her lips with her tongue ever so slowly. She was little more than a schoolgirl, but her expression told him that all of her experience hadn’t come from the schoolroom. Did she not know what she done to him?
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:11 pm #
There was no doubt he could lose himself in those eyes. They were so beautiful and huge and…scared.
Scared? She was scared? He realized she must have heard the rumors. From every direction he could hear the words seduction and plunder. If she believed half of what she must be hearing, she would swoon. From the look on her face he thought she might. If only he could tell her the truth.
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:12 pm #
Lady Madeline regarded Lord Marly, as he was regarding Miss Petunia Pierce with the same lustful expression he had worn toward herself not one hour ago. “Yes, Mama. I see what you mean. Do you think Lord Henry has any interest in goat breeding, as I do?” She so loved her goats.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:15 pm #
Madeleine stood frozen in place. The most magnificent looking man she had ever seen was headed straight in her direction. He looked to be a man who knew what he wanted with his wide shoulders, narrow hips and trim waist. Her heart hammered more with each step he took in her direction. “May I have the pleasure of a dance?” Marly asked.
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:19 pm #
“Not if you want to live to see tomorrow,” Madeline’s mother replied, in a low voice with a surprisingly dangerous edge. What is this about? Lord Marly wondered.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:19 pm #
Before she could think or say a thing, Marly pulled her onto the dance floor and the orchestra began to play.
“Come now.” he said “I won’t ravish you here on the dance floor, whatever you may have heard of me.
He had to make his move before the all the secrets were out. Rumors he could handle but could she?
Marsha G. on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:20 pm #
Maddie was saved as Verlane stepped up at that moment and handed the drinks to her mother. Verlane said with smoldering eyes, “I believe you promised this dance to me, my dear.” He swept her into her arms and out onto the dance floor. Marly watched in disbelief. Just then a man creeped up with a gun and held it on Marly as hid in the potted plant. Marly froze…
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:23 pm #
She tried to think. Should she create a scandal by leaving him on the dance floor? The moment they were out of sight of the others, he stopped dancing and pulled her into his arms , his lips capturing hers in a kiss that left her weak and wanting more. We need to talk he said. Stay away from Lord Henry. He is not all he says he is. You could be in danger.
Cathy Phillips on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:23 pm #
When the dance was over, Madeleine was intrifuged. Could it be that the stories about Lord Marly were untrue. He had been so nice and warm as they had danced.
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:25 pm #
And thought, oh, well, I won’t get lucky tonight. Lord Marly and his somewhat tame captor marched right out the terrace doors.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:29 pm #
Marly and Madeleine froze. What the hell was going on? Marly thought. About that time he was knocked in the bcak of the head with a gun and Madeleine was taken out the doors.
Marsha G. on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:29 pm #
ok, so Verlane broke in to the dance and swept away with Maddie as the mysterious man held the gun on Marly from behind the potted plant. Madeleine and Verlane made a striking couple as the waltzed around the floor. She looked up at him, cleared her throat and asked, “Umm.. do you like goats?”
“Goats~fainting or billy? Breeding or milk? I would love to raise them in the country. My father lost his money, but I have been slowly investing my allowance from the Duke to double my income so I might breed goats and horses.”
Maddie’s huge smile lit her face. She had found the man of her dreams. Nothing would make her happier than to raise goats and children with him.
Cathy Phillips on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:31 pm #
Lord Marly was wondering how he could possibly disarm his captor. Was his captor Lord Henry? Suddenly Stonveille came from around the corner and saw them. He drew out his own gun and told Lord Henry he would shoot without hesitation.

What the hell was he doing? He asked himself when he woke up. He was here because he wanted what he couldn’t have. Where’s Maddy? he yelled.
chelleyreads on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:31 pm #
No, Madeleine decided, they can’t true. She wants to meet Lord Marly alone so she can talk to him and know for sure the rumors weren’t true. But where?
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:32 pm #
Marly will never have you and neither will Stoneville have Sabrina. I will kill you both before that happens, her captor said as he tied her hands and feet.
Marsha G. on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:34 pm #
Lord Henry grabbed Maddie, elbowed her captor, and left Marly and Stoneville in shock. Who was the masked man.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:34 pm #
Later that night Sabrina entered her rooms tired and shaken after tonights events. What was going on? Who was that man and what did he want? Then her thoughts turned to Stoneville, he was tentaive and caring. I wonder if he feels about me what I feel for him she wondered.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:35 pm #
About that time a masked man grabbed her and knocked her out. She wouldn’t get away again her captor thought.
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:35 pm #
Just then, Lord Henry Verlane came about the terrace corner. “Unhand her, you villain,” he ordered. She doesn’t need You to rescue her from Lord Marly.
Marsha G. on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:36 pm #
The masked captor ran away into the gardens and the three gentleman compared notes. Maddie clung to Lord Henry. Marly knew he had lost her.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:36 pm #
Maddie woke up as the masked man brought Sabrina in and threw her down beside her. After he left and locked the door Madeleine tried waking Sabrina up.
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:36 pm #
Kimmy, who was knocked out?
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:38 pm #
The masked man entered the room and pulled off his mask. They both gasped. It was Lord Henry.
What do you want and why have you taken us, Madeleine asked. His face was all distorted with rage and he was spitting as he talked. Because those bastards killed my brother.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:38 pm #
Sabrina.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:39 pm #
Susan I’m sorry I think everyone is typing so fast and were all getting off track. Where should we start?
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:40 pm #
Who killed your brother, Madeleine asked. Marly and Stoneville. That’s who, he screamed.
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:42 pm #
Okay, so Madeline had been almost willing to marry Lord Henry, then he knocked her out. This was so unfair.
“Lord Henry, release us. Madeline might marry you to avert the scandal you just caused, but you can’t marry us both” Sabrina ordered, at her most imperious (which was quite imperious).
“You do realize that Lord Stoneville was hunting with my brother in Kent when your brother was killed in Cornwall?” Lady Madeline pointed out, in fairness to her friend.

While Lady Nicole was lost in thought, she missed that debutantes Karen and Suzi were shaking their heads in consternation over the fact that not one of the ladies presently pursuing Lords had realized the obvious: THE TRUTH ABOUT the way TO TAME A DANGEROUS LORD–in fact, the infamous, LORD STONEVILLE, himself–was simply for the woman to be well and strikingly dressed, especially if she was RAVISHING IN RED!
Marsha G. on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:43 pm #
Ok, I am officially confused
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:45 pm #
I will marry neither one of you. Neither will Marly and Stoneville. Lord Henry said.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:46 pm #
Me too. Madeleine, Sabrina or Nicole HELP
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 5:48 pm #
“That’s enough out of you” Lady Sabrina’s and Lady Madeline’s fathers spoke at the same time, accompanied by eight very large, thuggish, dangerous-looking footmen. You, Lord Henry, are going to a hospital for the insane.

Please HELP

(Just ignore my post. I was typing, answering Cathy’s 5:01 post, obviously much too slowly, while events took off again leaving me in the dust.)

“Well, I’ll have to marry Lord Stoneville now,” Lady Sabrina mused aloud.
“Don’t worry” her Father answered. “He offered of you tonight before this abduction.”
“What about me?” Lady Madeline wailed…
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 6:07 pm #
(Come on, people, someone can think up a happy-ever-after for Lady Madeline!)
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 6:12 pm #
About that time Marly burst through the door and grabbed Madeleine and hugged her. She could hear his heart beating through his shirt. He smelled of fear and excitement. She realized at that moment how much she wanted and needed this man. He leaned into her red blond hair and smelled the lavender scent and was thankful that she was alive. He leaned back and looked into her blue eyes and told her ” You are the only one for me. I have wanted you for so long and now I’m asking you to be my wife.” She looked him with her mouth open and tears streaming down her face and yelled yes.

Writers, if you lose a train of thought, you can always restart a thread by saying it was all a bad dream, LOL.
But I warn you, I’m not leaving till Lady Nicole gets a happy ending, too. I don’t care as much about the other ladies, even if Maddie is my cousin. I want my true love, please.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 6:18 pm #
“There’s something I must ask you,” said Maddie. “What is all the secrecy?” I will not marry a man that keeps secrets from me. We start with honesty.” she said. “My secret? My secret is that I worked for the secret service,” Marly said. But that will be kept between us. As for Stoneville, his secret is his to tell not mine.

While all the activity was going on outside, the ball was still raging on. Lord Lucian had netered and wa looking for Stonveill and Marly. They were supposed to meet up earlier but neither ever showed. He hated thes stuffy shindigs. Balls were not his things. All the mamas and their daughters hounding him. What a bloody awful mess Lucien thought. I will kill those two when I fing them.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 6:22 pm #
Lady Nicole was walking around looking for Marly. Where is he she thought. Not paying attention to where she was going bumped right smack into Lord Lucien.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 6:23 pm #
Oh my what a fine speciman he was. Where did he come from, thought Nicole. He was at least six foot tall, powerfully built with wide shoulders, trim waist, black hair and baby blue eyes.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 6:24 pm #
Am i getting there Nicole?

The wedding of Madeleine and Marly was held the following morning. The sun was bright, the sky was blue and the bride was ravishing in red.
The truth was that a dangerous lord could be tamed by the greatest thing in the world, Love.

>>>Am i getting there Nicole?
This is showing great promise, Kimmy! I love the name Lucien.
May I be Maddie’s bridesmaid?
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 6:30 pm #
After the wedding was over Lord Lucien walked over to the bridesmaid, Lady Nicole and put her hand in his arm and strolled out to the gardens. He thanked her for the dance last night at the ball and for keeping the harpies away. She looked up at him with her rosy red lips and bright green eyes and told him “My pleasure” About that time he leaned down and kissed her with such passion she thought he would melt. In a few months this is where you and I will be Lord Lucien told her. Nicole smiled up at him and said “Is that your way of asking for my hand in marriage?” His answer was another pssionate kisss.
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 6:31 pm #
I hope I gave you a happy sexy ending Nicole. LOL I did my best.
Nicole Jordan on 23 Jan 2010 at 6:33 pm #
Also, I want you to know that this happens all the time to writers… they start a plot thread and go down a few blind allys and have to back track and figure out where they are! And then go back and edit and plant clues and cut scenes and even characters and then tie up new loose ends… and well, it’s a messy process sometime. But y’all are doing great!
Alternately to the “It was all a bad dream fix”, you can just go back to the last thread that made sense to you and pick it up from there. This is YOUR story after all!
Kimmy L on 23 Jan 2010 at 6:35 pm #
I don’t think I could be a writer. Too complicated.
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 7:11 pm #
Poor Mr. Stoneville was left behind, as he took too long to regain his sobriety. He nursed a broken heart over the ravishing Lady Nicole for the rest of his days, which were very short indeed.
Sabrina Jeffries on 23 Jan 2010 at 7:34 pm #
Hey, as long I get a happy ending, I’m happy. Well, I wouldn’t mind having lots of sex with the hot guy and some chocolate dessert, but that’s it. Oh, and some rubies. And maybe a yacht or two. And ….
Oh, screw it, no book could have all that.
Great job, y’all!
Susan in AZ on 23 Jan 2010 at 8:05 pm #
Sabrina, there’s always the epilogue: sex on a yacht, just after he gives her a Birthday gift of rubies and plies her with “death-by-chocolate” dessert…
Madeline Hunter on 23 Jan 2010 at 8:06 pm #

I agree, Sweet Jane! Loved the fun story. Everyone was so talented.
And I’m thrilled with my ending, lol. Thank you, thank you, Goddesses. And thanks to Kim for thinking up such a delightful contest. Can’t wait to find out who the winners are. They sure have earned their prizes!

Can someone help me? I’m looking for an old Irish Celtic folk song. last known from sugarloaf records. about drunken Irishmen. One lyric says “I don’t know where you’ve been my friend, but I see you’ve won first prize.” or a song that says”Where have you been? I’ve looked for ever and a day.” By a woman, about an older couple, both in the hospital.
