Once in a Blue Moon . . .

a_blue_moon1250259866Every so often (once every 2.7 years) we end up with not 12, but 13 full moons in a year. The extra full moon is called a ‘blue moon.’

The next blue moon will be tonight on New Year’s Eve and I am STOKED. I’ve always felt a little something special for those blue moons and it’s exciting to see one ushering in a new year.

While I enjoy rumors and innuendo, I believe that most of us make our own luck by good planning, careful use of resources, and some old fashioned hard work. Still, it can’t hurt to have a friendly blue moon looking over my shoulder at the same time!

What do you want to accomplish this year? What are you going to do to make sure that happens? Do you believe this will be your lucky (ier) year? Will you be somewhere that you can see the new year’s blue moon?

So many books . . .

images[1] . . . so little time. I’ve never made a to-be-bought book list. I know a lot of people do, but I’m just too busy(okay, so I’m really just too lazy) to research which author has what book coming out in which month. Another reason I don’t make a list is because I always think I’m going to remember when the next Kleypas or Howard is slotted to hit the shelves, but of course I never do.

I do most of my book buying when I’m at Walmart buying milk and T.P., and I miss good books that way. But this year I have vowed too make an actual list and since I am busy (lazy) I’m enlisting your help, my fellow Goddesses.

What books are on your To-Be-Bought list for 2010?

Will and Jane Go to the Library

18W&J&thelibrarian

I confess I’ve only seen a celebrity in the flesh once, and I’m not completely certain it was her, but I would swear I saw Peri Gilpin (who played Roz on Frasier) in the airport in New Orleans years ago. I considered asking her if it was her and telling her I was a fan of the show and her work, but I was too chicken. Plus, I couldn’t remember her real name–just her character name.

My FATHER, on the other hand, introduced himself to Muhummad Ali in an airport, so he could argue with him about things Ali had said in the media. I wasn’t there, but my younger brother was, and he wanted to kill my dad. He just wanted Ali’s autograph. Both my brothers have met way more celebrities than I have. I guess I’m never in the right place at the right time. Plus, writers spend most of their time cooped up in their office–hard to meet celebrities that way.

Okay, so tell the truth–have you ever seen a celebrity in the flesh? What did you do? Was it a good experience? Bad? Did you get an autograph? Can I have it? (okay, just kidding)

P.S. my new librarian action figure, complete with library and book cart, was a gift from Lynn Eyermann. Thank you, Lynn!! I love it!

Goodbye 2009!

At this time of year I am always both happy to see a new year coming and kind of sad to see the old one go.images-1

Things I will not be sorry to leave behind in 2009-

Oldest son’s knee surgery.  It freaked me out!

Youngest son’s senioritis.  Do NOT get me started.

Pain in the butt book I am writing right now.  Every once in a while, there’s one of THOSE books.  After 45+ books, I know it’ll all work out . . . but while I’m writing the thing–OY!

Great things that happened to me in 2009-

My sons are still happy, healthy and on the road to success.  Although every time the phone rings and I don’t know the owner of the caller ID I think, “What in hell did they do now?”

n1599450045_9818Oldest son’s knee surgery was a success and he is back playing college basketball this week.

Youngest son applied to 5 colleges and was accepted to every single one.  What a guy!4539_1150062483957_1599450567_30901918_4428072_s

IV’s business is still doing well.  Not great, not better, but not bad.  And lately that’s good.

I still have a contract with a publisher I love, and I am working with an editor I adore, writing books I like to read.  I’m blessed.

I am a Goddess!  Hear me roar!  Thank you, thank you, a thousand times thank you to the original goddesses for inviting me to join them and for all the fun I’ve had being a part of this site in the past year.

imagesTell me–what great things happened in your 2009 and what things will you be glad to leave behind when the calendar turns to 2010?
