I woke up with a killer candy hangover this morning…I got into the treats early
I’m laying low and watching an assortment of scary movies tonight.

Taking the kidos to a fall festival and then trunks or treats. The weatherman is calling for rain, but I hope we get a window of opportunity without it.

The kids around here did their thing last night. In this area, the Lower Susquehanna Valley, Trick or Treat night is usually some night other than Oct 31. When I first moved here from Texas, it took me several years to get used to it. The papers always print which night various communities will be Trick or Treating. They don’t even do it all the same night! It’s possible for a kid to go out 2-3 nights and collect a year’s worth of candy rush.
As for my plans for tonight. TG for the DVR. Game 3 of the World Series is in Philly tonight. If it doesn’t have a rain delay. And the Professional Bull Riders began their week long World Finals Championship last night in Las Vegas. Wish I was there. The rank bulls are being trotted out tonight. Can’t miss that. Bulls 42 – Cowboys 0. That sort of rank bull.
I am getting a treat, though. My birthday is later this month. I have decided the time has come to treat myself to a Kindle. It will be here today. I guess I can read during commercials. Busy night tonight. I don’t need anything else for my birthday. Maybe shed a few years and pounds? LOL Oh well. I guess the Kindle is more doable.

First Halloween in our new house! I know there are lots of kids in this neighborhood so I bought tons of candy to hand out. It’s always fun to hand out the candy and see all the different costumes. Now it remains to be seen how many actually Trick or Treat.

We don’t get many trick or treaters at my apt. Depending if I feel better I may go see my great niece, she is going to be a bumble bee this year. Too cute.
Been messing with this (*&*^%) cold this week so I am not up to par. Candy doesn’t taste good. That bites.

Halloween Party!
Costume: Not Quite So Grim Reaper:
Made the robe and hood out of light pink linen, the chains for the belt are intertwined with daisy’s and the scythe has daisy’s twined up the handle. Then the robe has buttons on it that read: GRAD, Grim Reapers Against Death, Choose Life Not Death, Kiss Me I’m Deathish, A skull smiley face, and Have You Hugged Your Reaper Today.
I had fun with it.

Happy Halloween! I will be handing out candy until around 6pm since I am going to a party dressed as the Queen of Hearts. Right now, I have my Munsters t-shirt on. Every hour, I will change it to a different t-shirt like: Dracula, the Mummy, Mickey Mouse as Dracula, the Wicked Witch of the West etc.

Happy Halloween! and in my case as a Melbournian it was also Derby day so most of us were dressed up in fancy frocks than scary costumes lol In my case I stayed home, though one year I would love to dress up- not quite sure as what yet but I keep telling my sister that we’re both short enough to be hobbits
Having 3 irritable dogs is not fantastic when there are children trick-or-treating and the barking gets worse when the door is opened to we pretend we’re not home- it’s rather mean I know >.<

It’s not celebrated widely in Australia so usually it’s forgotten until someone greets you with a ‘happy halloween’ on the day lol I’d say I’m just hiding out with the family, saw some halloween themed episodes of some of my favorite TV shows. Forgot to rent out a scary movie! I really admire the pumpkin carving and the whole enthusiasm of Americans as a whole with this holiday, it seems like so much fun. Next year I swear my friends and I will create our halloween-tastic fun!

Pesky, what a cute costume!!! Great idea.
We’re supposed to go to a neighborhood get-together at 1 pm, but it’s outside and it’s raining here. Argh! So I don’t know if I’m going or not. I sure hope it doesn’t KEEP raining. I’ve got tons of Halloween candy to get rid of!

happy Halloween, today is my son & dil’s anniversary and we the get the g-daughers overnight. They will be a scurvy pirate (Molly) and a pink Spiderman (Bella). Bella couldn’t be the red &blue Spiderman cuz he’s a boy and the black Spiderman is a bad guy. I just finished making a Max from Where the Wild Things Are costume for one of our daycare babies. It is ivory fur w/a brown bushy tail, I can’t wait for him to get here to try it on.
Pesky, I would love to see your Reaper outfit, it sounds fun.

Rochelle, I wish I lived in Australia. I have never been a fan of Halloween.
We will be attending a birthday party, then hosting little kids for trick or treating tonight, serving pizza and wine to adults, candy to the kids. Want to make sure everyone is bouncing off the walls, LOL

Usually we have a party for the kids, trick or treat and then have a quite Samhain celebration for ourselves. It isn’t happening this year because we are in the middle of remodeling, I LOVE my bathrooms and laundry room btw! Now we have to do the kitchen floor and move the island back into the middle of the room. Plus having our mom and the grands here it would just be too chaotic.
We bought tons of candy too, they kinds we like just in case we have to do the hard thing and eat it ourselves.
Mom says they will take all that away from me after they see what is blocking my artery, so I will have to eat fast.

We had trick or treating last Sunday here. They always have it the Sunday before the actual day. No idea why.
Only had about 5 kids so I have mega candy left. I need to get rid of it before I eat all the chocolate!
I think we’ll be laying low tonight. We’ve got 30 mph winds here. No fun to go anywhere in that.
Freshechelle on 31 Oct 2009 at 9:03 am #
I’m spending my Halloween driving to Lori’s house. I hear there’s plenty of chocolate there.
Happy Halloween to all your little ghosts and goblins.

Well, target already put their halloween stuff on sale (and is putting out christmas stuff WITH christmas music!!!) so i got some yummy candy yesterday. i’m not sure what we’re doing today/tonight since my DH is working till 9. i might go to his mother’s and see if any trick or treaters come by or i’ll sit at home and watch a movie till he gets off work. we’ve been planning on getting pumpkins but never did so we might do that this afternoon.
Karen Hawkins on 31 Oct 2009 at 9:27 am #
I’m not a big H-fan, either. I did enjoy watching my kids do it when they were younger, though. Some of the costumes are SO cute!
And no, I’m not waiting for the Reeses Peanut Butter Cups — er, I mean candy, to go on sale. Nope. Not me. Wouldn’t think of it!
Ok, maybe I am. But ssssh! No one knows but us!
PS My daughter carved a pumpkin … it’s a ‘Pig Eating a Porkchop.’ According to her, there’s nothing scarier than carnivorous cartoonish cannibalism.
Kathy on 31 Oct 2009 at 9:33 am #
I saw your daughter’s pumkin pic on fb, and wow that is creative and kinda gross!
kuddos to her!
Pesky! I love that idea for your costume.
One of the girls I used to look after can’t go out tonight as she has H1N1. I told her to take a picture of herself in costume so her sisters can take it out with them with a bag for candy so she is there in spirit and can enjoy her goodies another time.
We don’t get many tricksters here so ony one tenant watches the door. She herself isn’t feeling well and maybe I can coax her to come up and watch Alien movies with me if I bribe her with a snuggly blankie and tea
PJ on 31 Oct 2009 at 10:04 am #
I dress up every year to greet the trick-or-treaters who come to my door. We usually get from 50 – 100 kids. It may be fewer tonight if the rain doesn’t stop. This year I’m going to recycle a previous year’s costume and be a gypsy fortune teller.
Tina on 31 Oct 2009 at 10:05 am #
I may go see the movie “Amelia”.
Kim on 31 Oct 2009 at 11:00 am #
Unfortunately I’m sick right now, not sure if it’s a chest cold or more than that….Best to keep me under lock and key and away from the public for the time being. LOL.
Happy Halloween to all.
dbrown3400 on 31 Oct 2009 at 11:37 am #
The granddaughter is going to be a little ladybug. Hopefully, there will be pics for fb. They have trick or treating here at the mall so she can go whether there’s rain or not. She’ll have no idea what’s going on at 18 mos. But she’ll look cute!
No one comes to our apartment building so I’ll miss seeing all the kids in their costumes. DD is taking the baby w/another older child and her mother so I won’t get to see the her except through pics. Maybe she’ll have a heart and swing by anyway?
dbrown3400 on 31 Oct 2009 at 11:37 am #
Kim, feel better soon.
Cail on 31 Oct 2009 at 12:45 pm #
Feel better Kim! I carved my pumpkin as my DH. I’ll post pictures when I upload on fb.

I’ll be hiding out watching a marathon of the original Night of the Living Dead.
Jane on 31 Oct 2009 at 2:28 pm #
I won’t be dressing up. I think I’ll stay home and watch some movies and go shopping for the discounted candy and decorations tomorrow.
Solveig on 31 Oct 2009 at 6:04 pm #
Happy Halloween everyone :Ö) I wish I could see you all in your cool costumes. We don´t celebrate this holiday as much here :Ö) I went to see L’Elisir d’Amore by Donizetti at the Icelandic Operahouse to watch one of the most gorgeous operasinger in the world perform. Sigh, I still have goosebumps. He really could make your FROS list I am certain! ;Ö)

K-Hawk, I hope you aren’t coming to Wetumpka in search of Reese’s peanut butter pumpkins on sale because SOMEBODY who lives in that sleepy little Alabama town already bought them all. SHHHH! I’ll be in a peanut butter / chocolate coma tomorrow. Good thing it is my day off!
I live so far back in the woods the Fed Ex guy can’t find me. BUT, all the little ghosties, goblins and Michael Jackson’s who live on this dirt road, know that the lady who lives in the woods at the bottom of the hill gives BAGS of candy, not just individual pieces. I buy the little individual trick or treat bags and fill them with all of my favorite candies. This year the kids brought their friends so I only have a couple of bags left over for me.
My outside dogs went nuts and because they are in runs behind the house they provided a great soundtrack for the kids who came to the front door. I even got them to howl on cue which was a hit. I wore my usual witch’s outfit and my horrible chihuahua, Frodo, is in his devil costume. I decorated the house and had my sounds of a haunted house soundtrack playing so all in all it was a good night. AND the kids around here stop trick or treating @ 8:00.
Quilt Lady on 31 Oct 2009 at 9:59 pm #
I was giving out treats and was wiped out by eight and then I started giving out apples and Ritz peanut butter and crakers because I ran out of candy!
Karen Hawkins on 31 Oct 2009 at 10:38 pm #
Oh, Louisa, I’ll find at least ONE Reese’s, even in Wetumpka! I have a bloodhound’s nose when it comes to finding Reese’s. It’s a gift.
Lisa G on 31 Oct 2009 at 10:42 pm #
I am vegen’ out on all the candy that is letover from not having any trick-or-treaters because we live out in the boones!!!!LOL
Linda Henderson on 01 Nov 2009 at 6:46 pm #
I just stayed at home and waited for my grandkids to show up so I could see them in their costumes. I don’t have any trick or treaters other than my grandkids and I don’t give them candy. They get enough of that from everybody else. So, I have no candy leftovers. Maybe I will have to hit the candy clearance.
Patricia Barraclough on 01 Nov 2009 at 9:29 pm #
I dressed up. I’m a children’s librarian and always dress up for events. I have a spider web flocked caftan I wear with spider jewelry. This year I added a scorpion necklace that even glows in the dark. I will be hitting the 50% off candy sales. I’ll need it for our NEW MOON Book-To-Movie party later this month. Of course, I’ll have to keep from eating it until then.
Hope you all had a great Halloween.
