Forget Me Not?

How do you remember stuff? I hate being caught with my pants down. You know, that horrible sinking sense of panic when you forget something important? So I try hard not to get in that position. But more and more I find myself blanking out for a few seconds on small things.

womanermemMy dh and I call them “mudroom moments” – for the times when we go into our mudroom (or pantry) and forget why we even went there. (I would call them senior moments, but of course I’m not old enough yet to be a senior.)  Or when we can’t think of a certain word or a person’s name.

I’ve heard that memory is often tied to emotional investment. That is, if you feel something about an incident/issue/object/subject/person, you tend to remember it better. I guess I don’t feel much emotion when I’m visiting our mudroom or pantry.

Supposedly as we age, our brains not only shrink and so become less powerful and productive, our neurons die out. And there are also other factors besides age that can impact memory such as stress, having too many balls to juggle at one time, lack of sleep,  life trauma… the causes are almost endless.

I have a friend who had a mini-stroke a couple of years ago, and she struggles with both her short and long term memory. Fortunately my friend is on medication that’s helped to stop the shrinkage and to rejuvenate brain neurons. But I don’t have her excuse… or her remedy. The busier I get, the older I get, the more I find myself needing helpers.

noteI rely mostly on notes, lists, timers, and calendars to help me remember. I especially write notes to myself. (It’s really bad when you lose the notes!) Actually, I’m pretty good at keeping such things as appointments and blog days, since I not only write them on a calendar, each Sunday I haul out the upcoming week’s reminder notes. But I’m not so good at remembering long-term events such as birthdays and postitMother’s Day, maybe because I don’t bother writing them down because I’m sure I’ll remember, and then I end up forgetting after all.

What things are you most likely to forget? What are your best techniques/tricks for remembering stuff?

Apart from my name, which sometimes escapes me, future appointments of any kind are my worst culprit. I’ll often have doctor’s appts scheduled a year or more in advance, so a two-year datebook is my constant companion. Post-its must be one of mankind’s top ten inventions. Those go on my computer or my armoire for more immediate reminders or suggestions. Although they used to look like wallpaper, the notes come down right away now in my effort to stay more organized. I have chat reminders, book suggestions, phone call reminders, anything too transient to hit the appointment book. I have larger Post-its for daily to-do lists when it’s going to be an unusual day.

I’m most likely to forget things from the grocery store so those things go onto a list. TBB books, CDs, DVDs, etc., go into my cart at Amazon. I can always remove or one-click them later. These items are usually culled from Post-its. I make a list of ebooks although I usually just get those one at a time.

There are only four birthdays for me to remember, so I’m good to go with those. Mine is tomorrow and I haven’t forgotten that one yet. LOL

This is where that list thing comes in again. I write the list for the groceries for things we may need. But, what I sometimes foreget is when I am meeting with a friend or going to a doctor’s appointment. I write them down and then post them on my computer desk because that is where I am most of the time.

For remembering things in the short time – I find that repeating them out loud helps. It stays in your mind it you verbalize it.

When I meet somebody new, I try to say their name in conversation 3x. nice to meet you, good point, etc. It helps me remember their name.

I’m a HUGE list person – to do list, groceries, chore lists for the girls (they can’t leave the house this summer until their daily chores are completed – no matter WHAT time they get up!).

Mr. G has a HUGE immediate family (40 people), so I have a Hallmark card box that is divided into folders. Bdays/anniversaries are written on provided slots. When I see a “perfect” card for that person, I put it in the slot. I mail cards out once a month.

I also have one of those “Mom’s” calendars with slots for each family member’s name per week/day. So I know when daughter #1 has student council, #2 has cheerleading/ortho, #3’s soccer game, parties, etc. It’s posted on the kitchen wall so everyone can see what’s going on.

I log in appointments on my iPhone (and sync it w/my computer) & have it beep to remind me of haircuts, nail appts., Blockbuster due dates, etc. So I know I have an hour left to get to the salon while I’m out running errands.

I know – my girls totally make fun of me for being anal retentive!

    Happy almost birthday dbrown.
I find that I have been blessed with old-timers more and more. I blame it on stress, shifts in the weather,or Tuesdays. Tuesdays are good for blame, they can take the fall for so much.

I love my Google calendar, it is one of three tabs that open every time I go online, MSN.com and TGB are the other two. I put everything on my calendar so we can check on our schedules at any moment. Of course it works better if you put the proper time for an appointment on the it. I was 45 minutes early for the boys sports physicals a couple of days ago because I had the time as 1 & 2 pm instead of 1:45 & 2 pm. We didn’t get in early either because their doctor was still on lunch break. *sigh*

I use post-it notes also. A favorite trick is to put my note onto the steering wheel so I can see what I have to get accomplished. And if I have a shopping list I put it on the cart in the store. I still walk out without things, just not as often.

I don’t have any specific thing I will forget, I am an equal opportunity amnesiac, I can and do forget nearly everything at some point.

  5. Judy F on 07 Jul 2009 at 4:10 am #

Just about everything that I need to remember goes in my day planner. I write bdays on every calendar I own. At work I put accounts I want to work on on a calendar. Though I might not work on them that day at least they are written down somewhere.

I am real terrible with names for some reason. I have tried everything, some just don’t stick.

I do write a list for the store but 9 times out of ten I forget it at home. LOL

  6. Susan M on 07 Jul 2009 at 5:40 am #

I am notorious for forgetting stuff. Appointments, birthdays (AHHH…I just remembered my grandma’s birthday is coming up),etc… I use several things to try to remember things. I keep lists, I log things into my calendar at work (both computer and desk), I enter things into my calendar in my phone and I use lots of post-its. Like right now…I have to remind myself when I get home to make a birthday card for my grandma. So I wrote it on a post it and put it in a place I know I will see it…on the book I’m currently reading.

  7. Lisa H on 07 Jul 2009 at 6:04 am #

    I too am quite forgetful.
my secret to keeping my pants up is to only use one calander for the entire family. It hangs on the front of the fridge, and I look at it several times each day. On the counter, I keep a list of things to do or buy. This system works fairly well for us.

  8. Tanya on 07 Jul 2009 at 6:05 am #

I hate this about myself, but I am a post-it-aholic at work… I just can’t come up with a better system that works for me. I’ve tried lists and email reminders; nothing else seems to jog the ole memory the same way!

At home my hubby and I use a Mac – which has a Wonderful calendar on it. Just like nancyg, my hubby has an Iphone so he can sync up with it.

  9. LoriHandeland on 07 Jul 2009 at 6:07 am #

If I didn’t have lists and calendars, I think I’d forget everything.

I have a notebook in my purse to write down things I need to remember if I’m out and about, then transfer them to the lists and calendar later.

I usually forget a new name two seconds after I meet someone. But I’ve found that if I admit it “I’m sorry, what was your name?” Then I’ll remember.

So if I do this at the Goddess Party next week, everyone will know why. Brain blip.

  10. Cail on 07 Jul 2009 at 6:31 am #

Lori, at least you’ll have seen most of the names in writing for a while at the goddess party. I’ll be there!

I’m a list person too. I always forget to put things ON my grocery list- which usually necessitates multiple trips in one week. Yesterday I forgot to pick up flour and sugar. bummer. now i know why the trip was cheaper than expected.

for events i have a calendar that i leave up near my desk. i add important dates and schedule events on it. i made another version of it on my mac, since i like iCal. I’m hoping i can print it and put it on the refrigerator. summer is just so much more complicated than the other seasons!

i also love post its, but i’ve taken to using discarded used computer paper cut in half for my lists and Honey Do’s notes to my DH. So much more cost effective.

  11. SuzyQ on 07 Jul 2009 at 7:03 am #

I always forget people’s names so I tend to do an association to try and remember. I will associate the person’s name to a friend or family member or sometimes a song. It seems to help.

  12. Freshechelle on 07 Jul 2009 at 7:24 am #

Every time I’m interviewing a candidate for a job, I think of a great, valuable question while they are speaking. I always forget the question when it’s my turn to speak. I’ve tried making little notes on their resume to help me but it still happens. I can remember it’s an important question so I can’t let it go. It’s embarrassing and it truly happens every single time.

  13. JudyPatooty on 07 Jul 2009 at 7:30 am #

I forget names. I recognize faces, but can never seem to match the face with a name. It’s getting worse as I get older, too! It’s really awful when I recognize a face and then can’t even remember where I recognize the person from. Aaack!

For everything else, I make lists. Lists, lists, lists, and more lists. That’s about the only way I can keep track of the insanity of life! :)

  14. TrishD on 07 Jul 2009 at 7:32 am #

Because I’ll forget tomorrow… Happy birthday dbrown!!!

I’m good with names. I deal with a lot of people with my job and I remember most of their names. How I do it I have no idea. People might not remember me, but I’ll remember them.

When it comes to other things though… my mind becomes a black hole. I’ve been known to be walking through the house and just stop with a blank look on my face while I’m trying to remember what I got up for. It happens to me at work too. I’ll be half way back to my office and have to return to where I just was because I forgot to get/do what I originally went out of my office to get/do. There are times when I’m definitely the comedy relief around here.

  15. Claudia Dain on 07 Jul 2009 at 7:39 am #

The more balls I’m trying to juggle, the more likely it is I’ll lose track of more than half of it. If I’m entertaining and trying to make sure everyone has what they need, checking on the food, keeping track of who is where, then you can put money down that I’ll forget the name of those shiny things in the cupboard that hold drinks. You know…they break?

Calming breath. Close my eyes. What is the name of that thing…right! Glasses. We need four more glasses for the table.

It’s not funny being senile at my tender age.

  16. Freshechelle on 07 Jul 2009 at 8:18 am #

Kim, help! I’m thrilled to see I won an MJP prize but can’t get into the forum to give you my details. Sorry for the distraction Nicole.

  17. Julia London on 07 Jul 2009 at 8:26 am #

Names are a big problem. I am dreading the conference in DC in that regard. I have met so many people over the years, and while I recognize their faces, and know that I know them, and can probably even recall when and where, I cannot draw up their name. That’s okay with most people–they are in the same boat. But for some people, it is hurtful, and that really bothers me. I don’t want to hurt them. I just have too many names stuffed inside my head.

  18. Nicole Jordan on 07 Jul 2009 at 8:27 am #

You guys are reassuring me, LOL. And making me laugh, too.

First of all, Happy Birthday, Donna! Hope it’s a nice one for you.

Fresh, can you just use the Contact Us link on the left side of this page under Members? I think that goes to Kim. Congrats on winning, by the way!

  19. Nicole Jordan on 07 Jul 2009 at 8:31 am #

    >>>For remembering things in the short time – I find that repeating them out loud helps. It stays in your mind it you verbalize it.

Sheesh, Jamie, I should have thought of this! What a great idea. I may have known it before but I forgot, lol.

NancyG, I can’t believe your dh has that many close relatives or that you send cards to all of them! You ought to start your own greeting card company to save you money.

  20. Nicole Jordan on 07 Jul 2009 at 8:35 am #

    >>I find that I have been blessed with old-timers more and more. I blame it on stress, shifts in the weather,or Tuesdays. Tuesdays are good for blame, they can take the fall for so much.
    >>>I don’t have any specific thing I will forget, I am an equal opportunity amnesiac, I can and do forget nearly everything at some point.

LOL, Evlqn!! I think maybe Fridays are worst for me since the stress has accumulated by the end of the week.

And it’s amazing to me what you goddesses with kids have to do. I can barely keep track of me, let alone a bunch of other people’s schedules and do lists.

  21. Nicole Jordan on 07 Jul 2009 at 8:38 am #

    >>So I wrote it on a post it and put it in a place I know I will see it…on the book I’m currently reading.

SusanM, that probably works great until you set down the book, lol.

    >>> do write a list for the store but 9 times out of ten I forget it at home. LOL

Judy, I keep a Walmart/Staples list in my purse and grocery list by the frige. But I’ve been known to forget to put stuff on the list, which sort of defeats the point *G*

  22. Nicole Jordan on 07 Jul 2009 at 8:46 am #

    >>>my secret to keeping my pants up is to only use one calander for the entire family.

LisaH, I just have this image of you running around your house, holding your pants up and waving your calendar at your family, telling them to make sure they write all their appointments down on the right days.

    >>>I hate this about myself, but I am a post-it-aholic at work…

Tanya, I think you’re in good company here!!

    >>>I usually forget a new name two seconds after I meet someone. But I’ve found that if I admit it “I’m sorry, what was your name?” Then I’ll remember.

LOL, Lori. SuzyQ’s idea of association is a good one. And so is the one where you say someone’s name aloud 3 times when you’re first talking to them. Who made that suggestion? I’ve already forgotten, lol.

Oh, yeah, it was NancyG. Great idea, Nanncy!

Also, are you going to buy those little sticky name labels for the goddess party? If you make everyone write down their names, it’ll be easier on you all.

  24. Nicole Jordan on 07 Jul 2009 at 8:56 am #

Trish, I wish I were like you about remembering names. I’m more like JudyP… really good a remembering faces but not names. Just the other day I saw a person I know I’d met before and it drove me nuts until I remembered her name and where I’d seen her.

    >>>>I have met so many people over the years, and while I recognize their faces, and know that I know them, and can probably even recall when and where, I cannot draw up their name.,,,, But for some people, it is hurtful, and that really bothers me. I don’t want to hurt them. I just have too many names stuffed inside my head.

Oh, Julia, I know just what you mean! I’ve done that to friends and folks I really should know, and I know it’s hurtful but I can’t help myself. For our local rwa chapter, I started a list of people’s names, what color hair they have, what they write and what they do other than write, and then I try to review my list before a meeting. But if it’s conferences and long times between meeting people, that doesn’t work.

    >>Calming breath. Close my eyes. What is the name of that thing…right! Glasses. We need four more glasses for the table.

Too funny, Claudia, lol. We had a big 4th party this weekend, and I set down my cup of sangria and couldn’t remember where. I finally found it next to someone else’s plate when it was time for dessert! And since we used plastic cups and wrote everyone’s name on them, I had no excuse.

  26. Nicole Jordan on 07 Jul 2009 at 9:04 am #

    >>i also love post its, but i’ve taken to using discarded used computer paper cut in half for my lists and Honey Do’s notes to my DH. So much more cost effective.

Great idea, Cail! And I hope you have a wonderful time at the Goddess Party. I sure would love to meet you and everyone else, but I’m stuck at home this year.

Who else from TGB is going to be there besides the resident goddesses?

  27. Sabrina Jeffries on 07 Jul 2009 at 9:18 am #

I’ve got that memory problem going, too. Unfortunately, I’ve had it all my life. I’ve gotten very good with calendars, though. If it doesn’t go on the calendar, I miss the appt. And I’ve missed some pretty important doctor’s appts. Sigh.

  28. LauraR on 07 Jul 2009 at 9:47 am #

I have a smart phone and put all my appointments in it. But then sometimes I’ll forget the phone at home…

  29. evlqn on 07 Jul 2009 at 9:57 am #

Forgot to move the car into the driveway last night. Thank goddess we don’t have night towing here anymore, I hate the $140.00 charge!

  30. Pesky on 07 Jul 2009 at 10:25 am #

If it’s not on the list, it doesn’t get remembered.

I keep leaving cameras behind me. So far I’ve lost 2 in Ireland alone. I’ve gotten to the point where i won’t remove them from around my neck at all, I definitely have “tourist” written all over me.

  31. Lisa H on 07 Jul 2009 at 12:05 pm #

After reading all these posts, I am wondering if memory and estrogen are connected…

  32. Nicole Jordan on 07 Jul 2009 at 12:23 pm #

Sabrina, it’s great that you can use calendars now. You’re the one who introduced me to the Google calendar. That’s been wonderful for scheduling group events.

Laura, that’s too funny about you remembering to shedule but leaving your smart phone at home.

  33. Nicole Jordan on 07 Jul 2009 at 12:25 pm #

Sheesh, Evlqn! That’s a big fine. Glad you don’t have to pay it

Pesky, that’s a really expensive habit you have of losing cameras, *pained grin*. You’re definitely smart to keep your new one tied to your neck.

  34. Nicole Jordan on 07 Jul 2009 at 12:29 pm #

    >>After reading all these posts, I am wondering if memory and estrogen are connected…

LisaH, I think they’re definitely connected! But I can’t remember if which way it goes, whether low estrogen means lower memory or the other way around.

I do think that women with families just have so much more going on that it’s a huge challenge to just run your life day to day, estrogen or no estrogen. And it becomes a viscious cycle… more stuff happening means more worry and stress and less sleep, which means you forget more, which causes more worry and stress….

  35. Nicole Jordan on 07 Jul 2009 at 12:30 pm #

Freshe, have you heard from Kim yet? I’ll go zap her an e-mail and ask her to get in touch.

  36. Pesky on 07 Jul 2009 at 12:53 pm #

You can say that again. And having taken several photography classes the little disposable point and shoots just won’t do anymore. :(

  37. Kim on 07 Jul 2009 at 1:17 pm #

Hey Freshechelle-I sent you an email. Sorry, I was out running errands. If you don’t get my email email me at kimscastillo @ msn.com

  38. Janae on 07 Jul 2009 at 2:43 pm #

Um, I have a really good memory. Things just stick with me, and I can’t explain why. I’ve always been that way. Although, when I’m really tired I can forget why I went into a room, but if I stop and think about it, I can remember. Oh, and if I can’t find something, like the Mother’s Day card I bought for my mom, I know my dh moved it. Fortunately, I found it, but not until last week. I’ll be ready for next year.

I do keep a calendar for appts and such, but I remember bdays easily. I don’t send cards, but my older brother does. Well, these days it’s his wife that does it; or she did before the twins were born in April.
Like Nancy I try to say someone’s name a few times to remember it during our first conversation because it makes it easier to remember. Other than that, things stick.

  39. amy1242 on 07 Jul 2009 at 2:58 pm #

I’m no help on this subject today. At my age, the light bulb goes on and off at various times during the day. I keep lists and put everything I possibly can on the calendar, but I still forget. Keeping track of the kids schedules alone, can be stressful!

  40. Paula on 07 Jul 2009 at 3:47 pm #

I am always writing lists. We go on holiday in 5 weeks and I will start writing lists soon, it drives my DH mad.
LIsaH i was told that when you give birth you lose some of your brain cells!! Whether it is true or not I don’t know but since I’ve had the boys I have trouble remembering things, perhaps it is because now I have to remember things for 4 people instead of 2.

Claudia from yesterdays blog (sorry Nicole) I have no problem finding Cadbury’s chocolate here in the UK it is everywhere which from my point of view is just as well!!

  41. Nicole Jordan on 07 Jul 2009 at 4:13 pm #

Paula, no need to apologize about chocolate, lol! I love Cadbury’s.

  42. Nicole Jordan on 07 Jul 2009 at 4:14 pm #

Pesky, where did you take your photo classes? Were they b&w and did you learn to do your own dark room processing, or was more how to be creative when taking Photos?

  43. Nicole Jordan on 07 Jul 2009 at 4:16 pm #

Janae, I think a lot of us envy you!! It must be wonderful to be blessed with a good memory. I’m similar in some respects… like studying for tests. My short term retention was good, but it only lasted a few hours.

  44. Nicole Jordan on 07 Jul 2009 at 4:18 pm #

Amy and Paula, I live by lists!! I find myself waking up in the middle of the night stewing about things I have to d, but if I can write them down, I can usually go back to sleep.

  45. nancyg on 07 Jul 2009 at 4:48 pm #

    Nicole –

I forgot to mention – Mr. G (aka Inspector Gadget) got me this really cool toy at Brookstone for Christmas. It’s a VERBAL grocery list. It’s battery-operated, magnetized & goes on the fridge door. Yes, it still stays on after hordes of kids/teenagers repeatedly slamming said door… Anyway, there’s a “record” button – you say what you need to get at the grocery store. It comes up with the item, you hit “add to list” and voila! It’s on there.

When you’re ready to go to the grocery store, you hit the print button, and prints out an itemized list by dept./aisle. :)

It takes a week or so to get used to your voice/accent, but after that, it’s good to go. You can even record yourself saying the food item, so it “learns” what you’re trying to say. It comes pre-loaded with a few thousand items, but you can add/delete/customize it as well.

It’s super-handy! Especially when I’m IN the fridge (or cooking) & realize I need milk, O.J., ketchup, etc. The kids add stuff like “sour Skittles”, chocolate syrup, Dr. Pepper, etc.

  46. Freshechelle on 07 Jul 2009 at 5:03 pm #

Nicole and Kim, thanks for the excellent follow up!!! Kim and I are all set and I’m eagerly sitting by the mail box waiting for my book. I forgot if I have anything else I need to be doing. Great topic today!

  47. Tanya on 07 Jul 2009 at 5:11 pm #

I am going to try that saying the name in the conversation a few times thing… sounds like it might help!

  48. nancyg on 07 Jul 2009 at 5:23 pm #

    tanya –

it works for me. I used to be really good about names, but now I tend to forget them as soon as I learn them. “In one ear and out the other” as my mom used to say. I actually learned that technique during a sales manager training seminar a few years ago.

Another helpful hint – if I’m making a customer service phone call about something – I have a pen ready & write down the name of the rep when they first answer. I repeat their name as a ?.

Like “My name is Jane Doe, how can I help you today?” I’ll say, “I’m sorry – Jane what?” then write it down on the bill, piece of paper, etc. – if you use their name a couple of times during the conversation, you WILL get better customer service!! Then I also write down the date & time so I have a record of who I spoke to and what they promised if any further problems arise (as it did when I switched from cable to Direct TV).

One cable rep actually HUNG UP on me once, I called back, spoke to their supervisor, and had them written up & a copy of the write-up faxed to me for confirmation because I threatened to call corporate & I had all their names, dates, & times written down!

  49. Karen Hawkins on 07 Jul 2009 at 6:29 pm #

Oh, Nicole, I am SO relating to this topic! Lately, it seems that I’d forget my head if it wasn’t attached to my shoulders!

Thank goodness for post-its. I carry some in my pocket all day and I make lists, lists, lists. Then I make MORE lists! I don’t know what people did before post-its. I post-it my grocery list, my to-do list, the time I put the roast on, whether I put clothes in the laundry or not — because, honestly, without a post-it, life is a blur to me, especially now in my final deadline week.

nancyg, I need to use your name the rep trick, too. It would be VERY handy and yes, some of them are so poorly trained!

  50. Pesky on 07 Jul 2009 at 9:30 pm #

    Nicole -

I tool my classes at a local community college. The first class was in black and white and taught composition, developing and basic camera settings.

The second class was in color.

Third class was on digitial photography and basic digital editing.

A lot of these classes are also given at night for the local community as well if you are looking into them.

  51. Nicole Jordan on 07 Jul 2009 at 10:16 pm #

NancyG, what a cool device. I’ve never heard of that digital grocery list before.

And thanks for the tips from your sales manager training. I’m definitely going to try those! Sounds like some of our other goddesses will too.

  52. Nicole Jordan on 07 Jul 2009 at 10:20 pm #

KarenH, I can sooo relate to your lists! And your deadline, too. Best of luck meeting yours. Mine was weeks ago and I’m still not finished!

Pesky, I’ll bet you’re getting really good at taking photos. My dh is too. He never took any courses but has a progression of digital cameras starting years ago when they first came out. I adore the ease of taking photos now, since you only have to download and touchup and print. But I agree, it would help you tremendously if you can hang on to your cameras, lol.

I go blank so often lately it is scary. Unfortunately, these moments can be called senior moments. I make lists (and loose them). I keep several calendars (and can never seem to find them). The lists work well if I can hold on to them. I know I haven’t gotten enough sleep lately (I’m blogging at 12:30 AM, so what does that tell you?). I have way to much to do at work and have been playing catch up for months. No stress there.
We have a vacation in a month which should be a break. We are visiting relatives, bringing our 11 year old grandson and attending our 45th high school reunion. I’m trying to decide if it will be even a little relaxing. We are gong on a 2 1/2 week trip in Sept./Oct. to attend an Air Force reunion. That we will enjoy and we should be able to relax. My brain will just have to stop shrinking. I don’t have enough to spare.

Lol, Patricia! I hear you about the shrinking brain.

Where is your Air Force reunion? I’m an Army brat and one of my (several) high schools is having a reunion soon, although I won’t have time to go. This school was in Germany and the reunion is in Vegas.

    Have fun at your reunions!

I was interested to hear of your friend with the mini stroke.
My husband has had two and we’ve been able to restore his memory function well both times without drugs.
There is a new sugar that has been discovered that promotes better communication between brain cells. It is about half as sweet as table sugar so we use it instead up to 3 tbp a day. The difference is big enough that when our son came home from Oxford U for Christmas he could see an immediate improvement.
I have fibromyalgia and use the trehalose to help with the brain fog. The result of that is that I just submitted my first manuscript. When I was on drugs for it, that would have been utterly impossible.

I don’t sell this stuff- you purchase it online at http://www.endowmentmed.org
You can talk to the people there by calling the number at the website or emailing.
It’s quite inexpensive as nutritional supplements go and we have found since it is low glycemic, it also lowers hubby’s blood sugar…

    We wouldn’t be without it.

Wow, that is so interesting, MariElle! Thanks for the tip. I’m going to have to check this out and also tell my friend about it, plus I’ll start keeping a closer eye on articles etc from now on. I’m so glad you found something that helps your Fm. And huge congrats on submitting your first manuscript!! What a great accomplishment.

The Air Force reunion will be in Fort Worth, Texas. My husband has been there a few times, but I haven’t. Wish we had more time to spend in the state. There is a lot to see. We’ll spend 3 days in Ft. Worth and then go down to the San Antonio area for about a week. When I have time, I’m checking out things we don’t want to miss. We are big history and nature people. It will be nice to visit with the FB-111 people. Hope a lot of them can make it.
It was a good thing I was in the Peace Corps before we got married and I got to go overseas. After we got married, my husband got stationed in my hometown and we spent 7 years there. I wanted to travel and see new places. We never got an overseas assignment, but we had several nice ones stateside.
