Don’t Feed That Dinosaur!
May 26th 2009
Suzanne EnochMy Life As A Plebe & Suzanne Enoch
I spent a good part of the day yesterday watching the all-day Land of the Lost marathon on the Sci-Fi channel. It was silly, hokey, and the special effects were absolutely terrible. And yet, some of my fondest memories as a kid are of watching and playing Land of the Lost with my sisters and cousins. We made my youngest sister be Chaka the ape boy. She still hasn’t forgiven us. I’m delighted that it’s going to be a hopefully campy movie this summer.
What was amazing was how much of the show I remembered. I’ve always been able to sing the theme song,
but once it started I could name all the dinosaurs, the friends and enemies of the Marshall family, and even Uncle Jack who took over for Rick Marshall in the third season.
As a younger kid I also remember watching Kimba the White Lion and, of course, Speed Racer. I’m sure they don’t hold up well, but man, I loved them when I was little.
What was your special TV show when you were a kid? The one you remember most fondly. Did any of you play Land of the Lost? Who was your Chaka?

Ah the Partridge Family! I loved watching that one and I love finding when they are on now with the close captioning. Yep I love watching TV Land ! Been watching Andy Griffin Show and Leave It To Beaver. Some I remember seeing in passing but finally get to watch more! Some favorites and waiting for them to come on captioned: Flying Nun, Family Affair (Jodie (I think) and Buffy! and her doll and the Bulter
, Here Comes The Brides (Wasn’t this with Bobby Sherman?) How about Petticoat Junction. They grabbed their petticoats at the intro of the show on the top of large railroad tub!) I hope that this all doesn’t show my age. I saw lots in repeats in the late 70’s.
Here it is for you to go through your head for a while now (My Best Friend by Harry Nilson from Courtship Of Eddie’s Father):
People let me tell you ’bout my best friend,
He’s a warm hearted person who’ll love me till the end….
Most cartoons I remembered were Josie And The Pussycats and The Archie’s
I get to watch the re-runs now of The Jetsons. This was fun remembering these! My sisters and I every now and then would do a game of remembering these shows and who could remember the most!

Also, top of the list was Battlestar Galactica, the original,…I loved the mythology they used and of course Starbuck!!!!I don’t like the new version, although my kids do..I mean Starbuck is a “GIRL”!!!!!
also honorable mention:: Happy Days , Laverne & Shirley, Three’s company Bionic Woman…. Tal

I lovedlovedloved “Around The World With Willy Fog”, an animated cartoon à la Jules Verne’s “Around The World In 80 Days” starring not humans but animals. I loved it and I’d immediately buy the DVDs if they existed (they don’t *grumble*).
“Maya the Bee” was one of my favs, too. I didn’t like Maya herself overly much, but her stories are great!
“Once upon a time … Life” and the other series made by the same people were great. Much of the biological knowledge I have today comes from this series *g*. It’s very well done for children to comprehend what’s going on in the human body.
There are many, many others I loved and I seriously think it’s a pity that almost all of them aren’t on TV any longer. I don’t know how it is in the US but the scrap children get to watch here these days is sometimes really horrible. I wish it would be more like when I was a child (Nostalgia, sigh…).

Oooh so many. When I was a kid I loved Reading Rainbow and Gargoyles and so many other cartoons.
Gargoyles was cool because the first episodes are in medieval Scotland and there are a lot of Shakespeare references. Of course I didn’t catch any of those when I was a kid.
Used to like night rider. OMG if you watch an episode of that show on youtube you’ll die laughing.
Loved the A team and Macgyver.
Stupid unsolved mysteries gave me nightmares as a kid.

You and I are of the same age. I grew up in the late 60s and 70s. I remember playing Batman with the neighbor boys. I was Batgirl or Catwoman, while they took turns with being Batman, Robin and the various bad guys they had on Adam West’s version of Batman.
I also remember grabbing the pillows off my neighbor’s parent’s bed and all of us getting on the floor and watching Brady Bunch and then the Partridge Family. I always loved that hour of TV on Friday nights. On Saturday mornings would be Sid and Marty Kroft shows like Land of the Lost, Sigman and the Sea Monsters, Liddsville, the Bugaloos and more. They were always fun to watch.
I LOVED Wesley Eure on Land of the Lost and most tell ya that he is the main reason I watched. I always pictured myself as the little sister. But, watching the “new” Land of the Lost, I don’t want to see that. It seems it lost some of that magic for me. From the commericals it seems like just another Will Farrell movie. Am I the only one who sees that? I want a Wesley Eure character and that family show. That was what Land of the Lost was about for me. I have to admit that I didn’t play Land of the Lost, but I did Batman.

there were very few shows i was allowed to watch on the rare occasions that we were allowed to watch tv at our house. Reading Rainbow, Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street were the ones i remember being able to watch. Eventually, when I started haning out at friends houses more I started to watch shows like Boy Meets World, Saved by the Bell, and Hey Dude. Blossom and Clarissa were also top choices.

Hope your weekends were wonderful!
Ever since I can remember, I was a fan of old movies. I remember adoring the older Joan Blondell, she of the pre-Hayes commission risque scenes, and a total screen siren. So I couldn’t get enough of her as Lotte in Here Come the Brides. (You know, “The bluest skies you’ve ever seen, in Seattle…And the hills, the greenest green, in Seattle….”)
Did it hurt that the show had a really young and adorable Bobby Sherman (everyone’s favorite LA EMT) and David Soul? Of course not. I would have traded off Keith Partridge for Jeremy Bolt any day!
But I confess, the attraction for me, even as a kid, was Joan Blondell.
I never watched Land of the Lost. Was that because I was already into my tweens and beyond?
LoriHandeland on 26 May 2009 at 6:43 am #
I always watched “Land of the Lost.” Didn’t play it though. I was always playing “Little House on the Prairie.” Must be why the first book I wrote was a western.
I would always get set up on the couch for Friday nights–soda, book to read during the commercials (still do this!)–and watch “The Brady Bunch,” “The Partridge Family” and wasn’t “Love American Style” after that?
Loved Bobby Sherman and always watched “Here Come the Brides,” but I’d forgotten that song.
Also watched “Speed Racer” after school but was never wild about it. Back then we were kind of stuck since we had 4 channels to choose from.

I used to watch Sigmund the Sea Monster (my youngest brother was always Sigmund), re-runs of the Monkees, Brady Bunch, the Addams Family, Partridge Family, and the Banana Splits before & after school.
At night, The Dukes of Hazzard (Daisy had the COOLEST Jeep!), A-Team, the original Battlestar Galactica, and Sunday’s Walt Disney World movie of the week. I also watched Wonder Woman – invisible jet? truth-telling golden lasso? pure kitsch, but I loved it!! An added bonus? She was a brunette!
I remember having Sunday dinner at my grandparents house and watching 60 Minutes with them.
Gosh, looking at the list, dang, I watched a lot of TV!!

Sigh. Now I know I’m old enough to be your mom, Suzanne. We got our first tv set when I was 15. I remember how excited I was when I came home from school and the guy was just finishing installing it. It was a surprise. A b/w surprise, of course. 1 channel which shut down around 10pm. Main shows I remember were wrestling, local over-the-hill c/w duo, local game shows. KPRC in Houston. No choices.
I was raised in the era of radio and Saturday morning kid’s club at the movies. Cartoons, serials, talent shows, contests. All your friends were there. No sane grown-up would have been. Noise you couldn’t believe. I had to watch those shows years later on tv to hear what was said. I loved those Saturday mornings.
All the shows y’all are talking about today are the ones I watched with my kids. BTW, my daughter earned her first babysitting money so she could see Bobby Sherman in concert. Cost her a whopping $4.
It’s fun to see what your memories are.
Margaret on 26 May 2009 at 6:55 am #
BTW, I spent many a happy hour playing Sheena, Queen of the Jungle. Complete with my faithful black panther. Aka known as King, my Heinz 57 dog. My cape was a long piece of brown paper that had wrapped some construction stuff. Ah those were the days.
Lisa H on 26 May 2009 at 7:22 am #
My two favorite shows were “Bewitched” and “I Dream of Jeannie” I always had the kids in the neighborhood playing “I Dream of Jeannie” and of course I was Jeannie. To compensate, I also had to be Miss Kitty when they wanted to play “Bonanza”.
Pesky on 26 May 2009 at 7:26 am #
G-Force (not the gerbil one they have out now) and Mission Magic. Those are the ones I remember. Generally my Mom and Dad would come in and say, “It’s a beautiful day, go outside”. So we didn’t do a lot of the Saturday TV but in the winter.
JudyPatooty on 26 May 2009 at 7:32 am #
Ahhh. Memories of Bobby Sherman. I had a centerfold poster from Tiger Beat magazine plastered on my bedroom wall.
I watched so many of the shows already mentioned, although Land of the Lost wasn’t one of the them. I did, however, watch The Munsters! And I would rush home after school so I could see the latest episode of Dark Shadows. Barnabas Collins was oh-so-creepy, but Quentin Collins (played by David Selby) was the one I really wanted to see! Mmmm. He was one sexy werewolf.
elsiehogarth on 26 May 2009 at 7:38 am #
I loved the Patridge Family, Here Come the Brides, the Monkees, Batman, Petticoat Junction, the Beverly Hillbillies, Gilligan’s Island, Gidget, the Addams Family, The Munsters, Superman, the Three Stooges, That Girl and the Brady Bunch. When I was around 6 and I just loved: Leave It to Beaver, Andy Griffin, the Lone Ranger and watching Jack Lalane do exercises w/his dog Happy.
Saturday mornings and cartoons: Speed Racer, H.R. Puffnstuff, the Banana Splits, Spiderman & Friends, G.I. Joe, Batman, the Superfriends, Felix the Cat, Courgeous Cat & Minute Mouse, Mighty Mouse, Bugs Bunny, Popeye and Thundarr the Barbarian.

I was a tv-aholic back then and would watch
Land of the Lost- but couldn’t remember anything about it now
Brady Bunch- I am the same age as Cindy.
Partridge Family
reruns of the Monkees
Donny and Marie
Wonder Woman
Bionic Woman
6 Million Dollar Man
HR Puffinstuff
as a wee girl, I loved Mr Dressup and The Friendly Giant- both well-loved Canadian shows
Loonette of the Big Comfy Couch, was a protege of Mr Dressup.
and pretty much everything on everyone’s list
Kathy/Cookiedough on 26 May 2009 at 8:07 am #
ooooh! forgot Planet of the Apes. that was a tv show right and not just a series of movies?
amy1242 on 26 May 2009 at 8:10 am #
My very favorite was Lassie. Every Saturday afternoon I would tune in to the black and white, static ridden channel. I loved that dog. Another favorite was The Wild, Wild West, on Sunday afternoons, which my brothers would watch with me. My mom came to hate Gilligan’s Island, because it was on right after school and she would always have to do some major wrangling to get us to the dinner table (she made the dryest roast beef on the planet, with roasted potatoes that crumbled when you ate them…ack).
amy1242 on 26 May 2009 at 8:11 am #
Ooooo, and the Flying Nun! Loved that one too!!
evlqn on 26 May 2009 at 8:21 am #
We didn’t get a tv until ‘59 and I think we might have gotten the big three ABC,CBS, & NBC. I watched Mighty Mouse, Andy Griffith, and we never missed Ed Sullivan on Sunday or 60 Minutes. The Monkees when I was a teen, loved them all. My best friends and I would walk down the street doing the Monkee walk and singing the theme song. “Here we come, walkin’ down the street. Get the funniest looks from everyone we meet.”
When my kids started watching there were more choices and Hercules was a biggie for them. I still remember Ian running out the door and leaping off the step yelling “Hercules jump!!” Thundar the Barbarian was another we watched religiously.
6 Million Dollar man and Bionic Woman were must sees for us too. One day my sons came running in all excited Tommy Littlehorse lived next door to us! Tommy Littlehorse? Yes, from Bionic Woman! Oh, you mean Charley Hill? No Tommy Littlehorse! we talked to him and everything! That was the day my sons learned the difference between real and play-pretend, it broke their hearts that Charley had lied to them.
Beth C. on 26 May 2009 at 8:21 am #
My favorite cartoons were G-Force and Voltron. Occasionally I’ve seen Voltron on some of the cartoon channels with all the old Hanna Barbera shows.
Once upon a time I knew the complete theme song to Gilligan’s Island. (That’s the beginning and the end song they sang at the end of Season One.) I admit I loved the Adam’s Family. Buck Rogers and Battlestar Galactica were favorites. Along with 6 million dollar man and The Scarecrow and Mrs. King. I admit, I like spies – Burn Notice returns in just a little bit.

We got our first television set around 1952. It was a great big piece of furniture with a tiny screen. I don’t remember much except Milton Berle and the Friday Night Fights. Later on, my favorite show was in 1957: Richard Diamond, Private Detective, starring David Janssen. He was my heartthrob. I also thought Robert Conrad on Hawaiian Eye was “way cool” and never missed 77 Sunset Strip. There were Peter Gunn and Barry Masterson and the Virginian. Westerns and detective shows were my favorites as well as the sports my father got me hooked on.
Freshechelle on 26 May 2009 at 8:28 am #
I can’t remember if we played Land of the Lost but were sure sang that song a lot. Loved watching Petticoat Junction (still do, they air it in Chicago), the Flying Nun (secretly thought Carlos was dreamy), Partridge Family but only remember them as 5x a week reruns. Saturday nights were all about Mary, Bob and Carol, the CBS line up, then if I couldn’t sleep, stay up watching SNL with Mom.
Guess we played Isis and Bionic Man a lot but don’t remember much of our TV inspired play. When we played house, I was Mrs. Donny Osmond, my sister was Mrs. Bobby Sherman (sorry, I think I’m repeating myself).
Sunday night misery was going to Granpa’s where the TV was always too loud and suffering through Wild Kingdom and The Disney Movies which was usually as dull as the Sunday morning Kukla, Fran and Ollie movie. Man, when Kukla came on, that was signal to get dressed and get the heck out of the house.
dbrown3400 on 26 May 2009 at 8:29 am #
Or it probably was Bat Masterson, of course! Duh.

Have Gun Will Travel, liked it better than *gasp!* Gunsmoke. My dad was a western fan so we all got to be fans also. That TV belonged to daddy and what he watched we watched.
Margaret on 26 May 2009 at 8:43 am #
dbrown, remember when there was almost nothing on but westerns? I also remember the first tv I ever saw. The parents of a classmate/friend bought one with a 5″ screen. They had a party so everyone could see it. Picture a room full of standing adults and kids sprawled on the floor. All watching Uncle Miltie in drag on a teey b/w tv set. LOL I can picture it still. It was around 1953-54.
TV sets got bigger thru the years and into color. My first color tv was bought when my kids were young. First show watch in color was “Bonanza” with the adorable Little Joe.
Nowadays, we can once again watch 5″ tvs except they are portable. Traveling in circles.
Margaret on 26 May 2009 at 8:46 am #
LisaH, I believe Miss Kitty was the bartender on “Gunsmoke”. Lover of the unsmiling Matt Dillon. Remember? Women tended to get killed off if they got involved with any of the hunks on “Bonanza”.
dbrown3400 on 26 May 2009 at 8:51 am #
Margaret, isn’t that the truth about traveling in circles. I remember Burns and Allen and Groucho Marx early on, too. You’re right about westerns, though. And Elvis Presley on Milton Berle and Ed Sullivan. The Ed Sullivan show was a Sunday night fixture in our household. “Right here on our very stage, the Bea-uhls,” as he called them. Too funny.

My favorite tv show as a kid was Adam-12. I loved to see what Reed and Malloy were doing each week. I also loved all the shows mentioned above as well.
Suzanne: Will we be seeing a new Rick and Sam adventure anytime soon? They are two of my favorite characters. I am sure I am not alone.

Oh yes so many shows I watched and love that some of them came on in reruns. I loved the Partridge Family, every young girl was in love with Keith (aka David Cassidy) and someone mentioned “Here Comes the Brides”, I would love this one to come back on in in reruns, Bobby Sherman and David Soul and I even had a thing for the guy who played the older brother.
And of course then there where The Monkees, ah sighhhh Davey Jones.
And don’t get me started on my love affair with the TV cowboys, Rowdy Yates of Rawhide. Heath (aka Lee Majors) of the Big Valley along with his brothers Jarrod and Nick (Richard Long and Peter Breck) al be still my heart. Then there were all those good looking sons on the Ponderosa.. oh i could go on and on about all my handsome men on TV.
Thanks for bring back such great memories of my days as a young girl.
Lisa H on 26 May 2009 at 9:15 am #
Margaret – I’m laughing at your post because I never really watched “Bonanza” but because I was the only girl in the neighborhood, I was “cast” as Miss Kitty when we played. I remeber all the boys fighting over which one was going to be “Little Joe”. Happy memories!
Claudia Dain on 26 May 2009 at 9:19 am #
I loved Kimba! But I’m shocked by the picture you have posted. I remember Kimba and all his pals as being more majestic. Cute, but majestic. These kids looks so…juvenile. Even silly.
Oh, Kimba! The magic is gone!
Suzanne Enoch on 26 May 2009 at 9:35 am #
LOL — sorry, Claudia. I was a bit shocked myself, when I googled for a photo.
Oh, Jamie! I’d forgotten about Sigmund and the Sea Monsters. Wasn’t Sigmund the nice one, and his brothers were awful?
We played “Bonanza” a lot, too. I always had to be Adam, since I was the oldest. Chaka got to be Little Joe, which she liked much better, but my poor middle sis had to be Hoss. She preferred playing LotL. Heh heh.
Karen Rose on 26 May 2009 at 10:25 am #
I watched Kimba! DH laughs at me for that, to which I just glare. I can still sing the songs from Kimba, Speed Racer, and Marine Boy (which DH meanly sings as Latrine Boy).
My parents were a Gunsmoke family. Later, I remember my dad watching Baretta, because it was close to our last name. Baretta was the one who had the white bird, I think. We weren’t allowed to watch All In The Family as Archie was rude and impolite. Which, was of course the point.
I remember Jonny Quest (that’s going to be a movie, too, right?) and Super Friends.
Alas, I never played any of these. Nobody in my neighborhood had any imagination.
As a pre-teen I was gaga over the Hardy Boys. Shaun Cassidy, be still my heart.
Suzanne Enoch on 26 May 2009 at 10:42 am #
Oh, what memories you guys are bringing back! “The Incredible Hulk”, “The Six-Million Dollar Man”, “The Bionic Woman”, “SWAT” (even though I wasn’t allowed to watch all of those episodes) — all big-time favorites at my house. Robert Urich from “SWAT” was one of my first crushes.
Jody F. on 26 May 2009 at 10:47 am #
I got sucked into the LOTL marathon too. I vividly remembered it from my childhood and I really thought the special effects were cool. As a jaded adult though, I couldn’t help but laugh at it.
My favorite 70’s shows were Battlestar Galactica (I wanted a Muffy) and the Superfriends (I learned so much from the Wonder Twins). Why, oh why, can’t tv be fun like that now?
And I must second Karen’s love of Shaun Cassidy. His was the first 8-track I bought with my own money.
Karen Rose on 26 May 2009 at 10:56 am #

And the Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew opening: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfUC3ClNhWU&feature=related
And for kicks – Bionic Woman (wow, I didn’t remember her theme as being so slow and soft): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JH5hNk1nm0U&feature=related
Must go write now. Hot scene. Chocolate to follow.

Judy F – I went to You Tube and watched Shaun singing Da Doo Run Run. I listened to that over and over at age 12. He was the first LP I bought with my own money (no 8 track, though). The album came with a poster of Shaun wearing this adorable hat. Defying mother orders, I taped it to my wall and sat and sighed at him.
Now, watching the video, I applaud my parents for their long suffering patience. I’d have killed me if I’d had to listen to that over and over again.
But my heart still sighs. Shaun was my first real crush. (Donny O was just a little girl crush, of course – but I still love him in Mulan!)

I used to LOVE the A-team! And I was addicted to wrestling. I loved Hulk Hogan and I refused to believe my Mom who claimed it was all fake!
evlqn on 26 May 2009 at 12:11 pm #
I have never been a Hulk Hogan fan but that may be because he broke my Oster blender. The boys in the apartment above us in Venice borrowed my blender for a party with the clear understanding if anything happened they bought me a new one. HH was one of the guests (he was still Terry at the time) and when he finished with the batch of drinks he just dropped the blender from the second floor balcony. The boys were not very happy because they did have to buy me another one and it was not cheap, I had a top of the line machine.
I liked Sigmund the Sea Monster too. I always wanted to live in his cave. Okay I was a mom by that time but I still liked the cave. Did anyone see the story about the Nebraska man who built a cave in his basement to go with his underground pool?
evlqn on 26 May 2009 at 12:13 pm #
And I dated a pro wrestler in my mis-spent youth, it is all fake but they still are incredible athletes. I just don’t like the extremes todays wrestling has taken.

How about shows like Mannix, with Mike Conners, Dr. Welby MD, Medical Center, Trapper John MD. Robert Wagner had some good shows like It Takes a Thief, Switch and Hart to Hart. And speaking of Shaun Cassidy I loved the Hardy Boy Mysteries. I’m sensing a theme here of medical shows and mystery/detective shows. What about Cagney and Lacey and Starsky and Hutch? Those were some of my favorites as well. I remember Cannon, F Troop, Murder She Wrote, Diagnosis Murder, Riptide and Matt Houston. And finally Lou Grant and Vegas.
I guess I have watched too much TV. Many of the shows I have loved have already been mentioned this list is just an addition to many of those mentioned above.
Suzanne Enoch on 26 May 2009 at 2:25 pm #
I was never a Shaun Cassidy gal. It was Parker Stevenson who made my heart go pitter patter. And David Starsky — I don’t think I ever missed an episode of “Starsky and Hutch”. And that was before VCRs. *g*
Sabrina Jeffries on 26 May 2009 at 2:44 pm #
Ooh, Kathy, I like H. R. Pufnstuff, too! I had such a crush on Jack Wild and Mark Lester after I saw them in “Oliver!”. I also loved many of the same ones Elsie did: Partridge Family, Here Come the Brides, the Monkees, That Girl, and the Brady Bunch as well as The Courtship of Eddie’s Father and Lost in Space. A little later I loved Hart to Hart, Charlie’s Angels, It Takes a Thief, the Incredible Hulk. I’m probably leaving out tons! I don’t remember ever seeing Land of the Lost. I think I was in high school–too busy to watch TV. Or they may not have shown it in Thailand. We got some series but not all.
I actually have the Bobby Sherman song, “Easy Come Easy Go” on my Itunes! I loved him and David Cassidy.
Karen Rose on 26 May 2009 at 2:58 pm #
Suzie, Parker was pretty cute too. Do you remember the commercial he did in the mid 70’s, just before the Hardy Boys became popular?
“I was flat till I went fluffy with Prell Concentrate.”
I think they’d rewrite the script for that ad today.
Jamie on 26 May 2009 at 3:11 pm #
This is SOOO COOL!!! I am surprised most of us watched the same shows growing up. Well, back then there was really only the three main networks that showed TV instead of all the channels we have now.
My first crush was on Bobby Sherman when he was in Here Comes the Brides. He aged well.
I remember that his character’s big brother’s name was Jason – he had brown curly hair and was a manly man. Wasn’t David Soul the middle brother? I recall him having blond hair.
Yes, Sigmund’s big brothers were a bit like Casper, the Ghost, big brothers. Both were bullies. I liked watching Casper, Bugs Bunny and my absolute faves were the Jetsons and the Flintstones. Where I’m from, I was able to watch 1 1/2 hours of the Flintstones a day. I subjected my family to three episodes a day of that show. I am surprised they let me.
Suzanne Enoch on 26 May 2009 at 3:20 pm #
Ah, Fresh, “Wild Kingdom” was one of our household favorites. I wanted to be Stan Brock for awhile, since he never wore shoes.
And Lisa, there is another Sam & Rick in the works, but I have the rest of a historical contract to get through first.
evlqn on 26 May 2009 at 3:22 pm #
Jamie, I don’t want tot see the new Land of The Lost either for the same reason, Will Farrell.
I liked almost all the same medical and police shows that everyone else did. Columbo was always a favorite and To Catch a Thief. I always adored Fred Astair. I think most of liked these shows because not only were the guys easy to look at they actually had brains and used them. I hate when they assume people are stupid and make their shows reflect that.
LauraR on 26 May 2009 at 3:35 pm #
Ah, early medical shows like Ben Casey and Dr. Kildare. And westerns like Rawhide (loved loved loved Clint Eastwood as Rowdy Yates) and The Rebel with Nick Adams. Saturday afternoons one of the local channels showed early Gene Autry and Roy Rogers films. I also remember when the Flintstones and Johnny Quest were on Friday nights during prime time. Dang it that was a long time ago.
LauraR on 26 May 2009 at 3:36 pm #
Oh and I remember being glued in front of the tv for all the Jacques Cousteau undersea specials.

Did anyone else watch the Justice League morning cartoons? My friends and I still laugh about their monkey “Gleep” and knock fists saying, “Wonder Twins activate!”
form of…
One of the twins was always a form of water, the other one was a form of animal (I remember wooly mammoth for some reason).
I also loved the Bionic Woman & 6 Million Dollar Man – the best was the one that they were in together! I also used to play “Almighty Isis” in the backyard when we played superheroes…
and of course, Fonzie jumping the sharks in California and the barrels on his motorcycle in Arnold’s parking lot! Also loved Laverne & Shirley – even made my mom make me a milk & pepsi ONCE (grossed me out!). Lenny & Squiggy? Carmine? loved ‘em

It’s strange how childhood cartoons carry through to your present day workplace. I work with a team of data disaster recovery experts, and about at 2 or 3 in the morning, when we’re stuck in a server area and missing information from the client, two of my co-workers, which we refer to as “the wunderkind” , will often bump fists and say “Wondertwins power activate! Form of a mind reader! Form of a decrypting device!” or some other nonsense. At 2 or 3 in the morning this kills…

Boy, y’all are bringing back so many good memories of being a kid! We never got to watch much TV when we were young… never on a school night, plus we had an early bedtime. And then by the time I was in high school, my family was living in Germany with few American or English shows. But I still have fond memories of quite a few, including Star Trek reruns.
Also, Suzie, I saw the new STAR TREK movie this weekend and loved it! I’m gonna go again when it gets to the dollar theater in a few months so I can pick up a bunch of stuff I missed.

Pesky, that kills anyway. *g*
Yay, Nicole! My favorite throw-away reference in the Star Trek movie was the mention of Admiral Archer’s dog. Archer was the character Scott Bakula played in “Star Trek: Enterprise” the series.

Oh, does anybody remember the live-action series “Elektra Woman and Dina Girl”?

OMG, I remember Elektra Woman and Dina Girl! What a trip down memory lane this has been, Suzanne!
I always watched Land of the Lost, The Bugaloos, H.R. Puffnstuff, Family Affair, The Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family, Gilligan’s Island, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, The Hardy Boys, The Monkees…..and the list goes on and on.

Loved Batman, Adam West stuff. My sister and I used to play on the swing set, I was Batman and she was Robin. Monkees was a favorite.
My Mom loved to watch Dark Shadows, and my sister and I would put a blanket over the coffee table and peek out at the TV. This was scary stuff to us! That music was enough to make you have goose bumps. You just knew something bad was going to happen.

SUZANNE! Yet more proof that we’re sister lost at birth — I used to looooove Land of the Lost! And even at the tender age I watched it, I knew it was hokey and didn’t care! Can’t wait for the Will Ferrell version to come out. I just loved the idea of being stuck somewhere SCARY, that wasn’t REALLY scary, but sort of scary which is about all of the scary I could (or can) handle.
If that makes sense.
I used to watch Wonder Woman, but she didn’t really do it for me, but I DID love the Bionic Man. He was just SO hot, that Lee Majors. Whew! I even forgave him for the whole Farrah thing. (He was MINE, I tell you, MINE!)
And Pesky, my guy and I do the Wondertwins fist bump, too, when we say things at the same time or have the same ideas about things. It’s definitely in our daily lexicon. Odd how that happens, eh? But then look at the lexicon we’ve got here at tgb … we have tgb, FROS-worthy, and going all Nancy G on someone. It’s catchy!

I remember mother’s soaps: General Hospital and Days of Our Lives, at night it was Dallas.
Dad watched western movies and Gunsmoke.
My brother was into the A-Team, MacGyver, Knight Rider and the Dukes of Hazzard.
I liked the 6 Million Dollar Man, the Bionic Woman, Dr Quinn: Medicine Woman and Airwolf.

Let’s go back to when I was 3 or 5 years old and see if you can guess how old I am. HeeHee,
Let’s Go down memory lane- sitting on my father’s knee watching The Original Mousketeers Show! Dancing and Cartoons- so innocent back then. How about Superman? Lois and Clark were so sweet together back then and Superman was even a little “chunky” but still cute. The Adventures of Robin Hood on about 5:00 or so. I do not even remember who starred in it- I was too darn young and gee the Tv back then was even taller than me. I had to look up at it and I think it was made with “blonde” wood. When I was 6 or 7 we had the Beav, Donnie Reed, Ozzie & Harriet but Rick was the dream guy on that show! Remember when Father Knew Best and then he became Marcus Welby? Oh those were the days and when I was 12 -The hey hey We’re the Monkees came along- were they cute or what? And High School- Star Trek. College? Nightly syndicated Star Trek!! Shatner is still unbelievable and entertaining on Boston Legal- gonna miss that one.
