FROS Hijack: It’s Cajun Time!!

gambit-kitschOkay, Karen Hawkins is doing a FROS world tour, but my eye is closer to home. Everybody’s talking about Wolverine this week. And I’ve seen the movie twice. But as many of you know, and however much I admire Hugh Jackman in all his shirtless glory, I’m a Gambit gal. I love that Cajun master thief and mutant, and today I am generously sharing him with you.

He appeals to the writer in me because a) he’s handsome, b) he has a mysterious and troubled past, c) he has cool powers, d) he’s very good at what he does, and e) he has a cool accent.gambit

Yes, in reality Taylor Kitsch was born in Canada, but this is fantasy!!

Have you seen X-Men Origins: Wolverine? Did you enjoy seeing ole Remy LeBeau? Which summer movie are you most looking forward to?

i’m excited for harry potter. other than that, i don’t even know what summer movies are going to be out there. i would be looking forward to Angels and Demons if they hadn’t done such a terrible job casting the main character.

  2. Kim on 07 May 2009 at 5:22 am #

Suzie! Gambit is my favorite of the X-men! Love him. We haven’t seen Wolverine yet. I just can’t go to the theatre anymore. Its dvds for us.

  3. Lisa H on 07 May 2009 at 5:26 am #

I want to see X Men, but I am really looking forward to July 1 when Public Enemies comes out starring the hottest guy around, my Johnny Depp!

  4. Meg on 07 May 2009 at 5:41 am #

I too LOVE Gambit!! He and Rogue are my faves. I will be going to see wolverine this weekend and cannot wait. Other movies for me are star trek, angels & demons, public enemies, transformers, terminator salvation… there are so many!! :-) I love going to the movies.

  5. LoriHandeland on 07 May 2009 at 6:17 am #

I saw it. Loved it. Loved Remy too. Can he have his own movie?

I’m counting the days until Terminator Salvation. I’ve been waiting for that one since I heard they were making it.

  6. Ayse on 07 May 2009 at 6:24 am #

I’m gonna see it this week. Can’t wait!

I used to love the cartoon as a kid. I love Gambit. This guys has sexy eyes. And I love Liev Schreibers voice.

Its so nice that the movie is filled with hot guys instead of the usual girls. We need more movies with hot guys :)

Can’t wait till Harry Potter. Although I wish I didn’t know what was going to happen :-/

There is a 33 minute Wolverine Premier video on youtube that is really great.

I haven’t seen Wolverine yet. I’ll probably wait for the DVD. For such a self-proclaimed geek, I don’t read X-Men – I prefer the Justice League. I don’t get out to the movies much…
    1. getting really out of hand expensive – $7.00 matinees; with kids, it’s a $50 event.
    2. unable….to…..resist….popcorn with butter!!

I’m looking forward to Angels & Demons – and the new book coming out in September, LOST COLONY? It’s about time he cranked another one out. I read his 1st printing is 5 MILLION copies!!

Harry Potter & the 1/2 Blood Prince – I love watching the kids grow up on film. My 2 older girls have read all the books, so it’s fun to watch it with them.

I know the girls want to see the new Transformers & Night of the Museum @ the Smithsonian.
I want to see The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus – *love* Terry Gilliam – he has an intriguing, bizarre mind! Plus, it’s Heath Ledger’s last movie.
BRUNO – Sasha Baron Cohen is so politically incorrect, it’s hilarious! I cried with laughter during BORAT.

That’s all I can think of right now.

I’m with Lori, very psyched for Terminator Salvation. Also very keen for GI Joe surprisingly. I just saw the new star trek tonight and it was FANTASTIC. I loved Remy in Wolverine but I was a bit disappointed with it overall. There were just too many characters and I felt none of them really got enough screen time for me to be invested in what happened to them. Would love to see deadpool and gambit get their own movies.

As a resident of Mississippi for six years and one who considered New Orleans her second home, I DO love a handsome Cajun !! I haven’t seen Wolverine yet, but I WANT TO !! And I am a Gambit fan too, especially when he is portrayed by such a handsome fella !

I have met quite a few handsome Cajuns in my life and they are ALWAYS charming and lots of fun. One of my late DH’s best buddies was a fellow pyschiatrist from St. John’s Landing, Louisiana. He was Cajun to his core and even had two “yard dog” alligators that hung out at the family retreat in the bayou.

I want to see the new Harry Potter of course and I want to see the new Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downy Jr. And I can’t wait to see Johnny Depp as Dillinger!

  10. JudyPatooty on 07 May 2009 at 7:49 am #

Mmmm. Taylor Kitsch! He lives in Austin quite a bit since he’s still part of the Friday Night Lights cast, so Goddess Julia needs to drive down I-35 just a little way see if she can spot him. Or maybe I should make up an excuse to drive up to Austin to visit my nephew.

The only X-Men movies I’ve seen were the first two in the series – way back when. I’m thinking about going to see the current one this weekend, along with the new Star Trek movie.

But the movie I’m itching to see this summer is Gerard Butler’s new one with Katherine Heigl – The Ugly Truth – which comes out in July. Anything with GB has to be wonderful in my book. :)

  11. elsiehogarth on 07 May 2009 at 8:00 am #

I saw Wolverine, on Saturday, and thought it was fantastic. Of the X-men Wolverine is my favorite then Gambit & Rogue. I just love Remy LeBeau and that whole Assassin’s/Thieves Guild story and his engagement to Bella Donna Boudreaux. The next Origins movie is suppose to be Magneto.

I am looking forward to seeing Star Trek. It starts today and I also read that Chris Pine tried out for a Green Lantern movie. I can’t wait to see this year: G.I. Joe, Harry Potter, Night at the Museum, Angels & Demons w/ Tom Hanks, Pehlam 1-2-3-w/ John Travolta & Denzel Washington, Cheri w/Michelle Pfeiffer, Scrooge w/Jim Carrey, Terminator w/ Christian Bale and Julie & Julia w/ Meryl Streep. In 2010: Iron Man2/Sherlock Holmes w/ Robert Downey Jr., Cirque du Freak(Darren Shan’s Young Adult book series) w. John C. Reilly, Red Sonja w/ Rose McGowan, the Green Hornet w/Seth Rogen, Witchblade, Toy Story 3, Thor w/ Kenneth Branagh, The Wolf Man w/ Benicio del Toro and Avatar: the Last Air Bender by M. Night Shamala.

  12. Kat on 07 May 2009 at 8:29 am #

Mmm. . .Remy — I just love “Southern” men. ..and New Orleans hits really close to home. Yummy. I’m just mad at the bit with Bradley — I love Dominique Mohanagan too! I really liked Wolverine, but it’s hard to get close to a character when you KNOW he will survive and that he goes on — I am not looking forward to Magneto — because once you’ve already established a character as a villain who wants to kill all humans, how do you like him?

  13. Nicole Jordan on 07 May 2009 at 8:30 am #

Haven’t seen Wolv yet, but I plan to eventually.

The movie I really have the hots for is STAR TREK. I’ve been hearing/reading really good things about it. Supposed to be satisfying for die-hard Trekkies and inclusive of new moviegoers too.

  14. Suzanne Enoch on 07 May 2009 at 8:34 am #

I’m not surprised that we have so many Gambit & Rogue fans. After all, they’re a great romantic, star-crossed couple.

I’m looking forward to “Star Trek”, too!! It brings out my inner geek, which is actually very close to my regular geek. *g*

  15. Kathleen O on 07 May 2009 at 8:37 am #

Suzanne we will let you dream about him. I don’t think it matters where they come from as long as there handsome, sexy and hunky.

I must confess to having a thing for cajan men, but hey I have a thing for most men no matter where they come from. Be it Southern gentlemen, Cajun rouges, hunky cowboys, European hotties just to to name a few.

I am going to see the new Matthew McCaughney movie, now this is a guy I could get into no problem. Or give me Johnny Depp as Captian Jack or Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy, Kevin Costner as Robin Hood. And please let us know forget Sean Connery as James Bond. These are my kind of guys.

I don’t see movies like X-Men or anything that has got the least bit of a mutant in them. Now I will say for super heros, I did not mind George Clooney as Batman, or Micheal Keaton for that matter. Christine Bale was no slouch either. But that is far as it goes with me and super heros.

There are some good movies coming out this summer, but sorry I am just not in to Wolverine, even if it has Hugh Jackman in it whom I adore and worship.

  16. ct009ct on 07 May 2009 at 8:40 am #

Haven’t been to the movies at all this year, and can’t say I’m looking forward to anything but the Harry Potter one.
BUT, I can say I’m looking forward to having many BOOKS to read over the summer!!

  17. Beth C. on 07 May 2009 at 8:41 am #

Yep. I saw it. My friend on seeing Gambit said “Oh, he’s pretty!” And I just found the inspiration for my elf hero (sorry Orlando Bloom)

I want a Gambit movie now! I don’t really care about Deadpool…not that he wasn’t hot but well Gambit is better. Love his whole leader of the Thieves thing and the eyes when he activates his powers…. What’s not to like?

I don’t know….as long as they have Ian McKellen playing him…I’d be okay. Magneto has always been an Anti-Hero. He isn’t really evil…just not good either. He’s been a friend and an enemy and given the fact that humans have tried to exterminate him twice….I can see where his hatred for them comes from. Do I love him, not like the X-men team but I still think he has an interesting story.

May is filled with movies to see Angels and Demons, Star Trek, Transformers, and Terminator. August has Harry Potter and GI Joe. Not sure what’s coming out in June and July. And 2010 has movies to look forward to with more comics (I think Iron Man and Thor are still slated for next year)

  18. Claudia Dain on 07 May 2009 at 9:00 am #

I saw it! It was really good. I stayed to see the end of the end because of *you*, Suzie. Without your comment about the ending being different, I would have walked out at the first credit!

I can’t wait to see EVERYTHING. It’s going to be an expensive summer. LOL Star Trek, Transformers, Night/Museum, Terminator, the romantic comedy with Sandra Bullock and Dead Pool…okay, okay, Ryan Reynolds–love that guy.

  19. SheridanLA on 07 May 2009 at 9:22 am #

I am ready to see Wolverine (waiting for the crowds to die down a bit) and Star Trek.. the new Harry Potter.. The Proposal (that Sandra Bullock film), UP, and Cheri.

  20. Suzanne Enoch on 07 May 2009 at 9:44 am #

Bronte, Elsiehogarth and Beth C. — add me to the “G.I. Joe” list. Dennis Quaid and apparently a cameo by Brendan Fraser. Yay!

I’ve heard that Ryan Reynolds is getting a Deadpool movie. And that “Wolverine” is now up for a sequel. I hope Gambit gets his own movie, too — or at least that he gets to team with Wolverine again.

  21. Karen on 07 May 2009 at 9:47 am #

Oh my gosh! I just turned C-O-U-G-A-R!

  22. Lisa H on 07 May 2009 at 10:04 am #

Karen – Celebrate your inner cougar. Rob Pattinson totally turned me!

  23. colinfirthfan on 07 May 2009 at 10:39 am #

I want to see Wolverine. So does my 5 yr old and 8 yr old. Is it OK for them to see??

The most anticipated summer movie in my house: Revenge of the Fallen (Transformers 2). My bosy can’t stop talking about it.

  24. evlqn on 07 May 2009 at 10:44 am #

We are hoping to get to Wolverine this week-end. Of course this is around basketball and soccer games and Celtic Woman concert.
We want to see Star Trek especially since Nimoy is making an appearance. Huge Nimoy fan, we briefly lived in his mother’s house in W.LA.
    And Harry Potter always!

  25. Janae on 07 May 2009 at 11:02 am #

I saw it Saturday! Loved it! Couldn’t get enough of Gambit! He’s probably my favorite X-Men. Wolverine just doesn’t do it for me in the comic books. I would love to see Gambit and Rogue onscreen together in the future. I’ve no interest whatsoever in Deadpool, but it was announced yesterday that Deadpool is coming to a theater near you after Magneto and First Class, which has me wondering if that’s going to be the original X-Men from 1963 (Dh sold his X-Men #1, so we could buy our house.).

There are quite a few movies I’m looking forward to seeing this summer. Off the top of my head – Terminator Salvation, The Half Blood Prince – who can resist that tagline?, Transformers, etc. Into the fall I’m looking forward to seeing Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, which is based on the children’s book of the same name. I saw an early screening in November, and it looks good. My kids left the theater quoting lines. And of course, New Moon.

  26. Suzanne Enoch on 07 May 2009 at 11:05 am #

I don’t know, colinfirthfan. I didn’t take my 7-year-old nephew, but he would have spent the rest of the day growling and running around trying to stab everybody with his claws. *g* It’s pretty violent, but not really bloody, and there’s only a little bad language. And Hugh Jackman’s bottom, of course.

We’re all waiting for “Transformers 2″, too. And “Night at the Museum 2″. Once the nephew saw that Darth Vader makes an appearance, that was that.

  27. colinfirthfan on 07 May 2009 at 11:14 am #

SuzieE, I forgot about Night at the Museum@. I too have been hearing non-stop about Darth Vader being in it. It is in the #2 spot. This weekend I am planning on taking the boys for Battle for Terra. Has anyone seen it?

Hmm.. I think I will have to watch Wolverine first and see if the boys can handle it (they claim they can handle anything). They were fine for all 3 Jurassic Parks. I finally allowed them to watch Indie and the Last Crusade, two days ago (I love that movie.) My 8 yr old really enjoyed it.

Oops forgot Harry Potter. My 8 yr old has just started reading HP book 4.

  28. Jody F. on 07 May 2009 at 12:35 pm #

I saw Wolverine and didn’t think it was too bad. It wasn’t as good as the second and third movies imho, but pretty on par with the first movie. I adore Taylor and was really hoping his story would be next, but I read yesterday that Ryan Reynolds’ (who I’m also in lust with) character will be the next origins story.

I’m definitely excited for Trek this weekend and Public Enemies later on, as well as Terminator Salvation (Can you tell that Christian Bale is another of my boyfriends?).

  29. Julia London on 07 May 2009 at 12:37 pm #

I have to admit, I don’t know who this guy is, either in real life or in the movies. But he’s HOT!

  30. Meg on 07 May 2009 at 12:43 pm #

I am also looking forward to Night At the Smithsonian 2. I’ll probably take my niece and nephew to see that one. Th eneat thing is that I am also taking them in July to the Smithsonian! I am really looking forward to that! it will be intresting to see what they will associate from the movie to the real thing.

  31. Madeline Hunter on 07 May 2009 at 1:19 pm #

I think that Gambit is cooler in the comic books, but Hugh made Wolverine very special in the movies.

I am looking forward to Star Trek. I am a trekkie from way back. Not a “wear Vulcan ears” trekkie, you understand, but other than the series with Kate whatshername as the captain, I have loved them all. I hated that one because (1) her voice irritated me and (2) they had that character who was the little alien nebishy guy with big spots on his skin and he really irritated me. Give me a Ferenghi any day instead.

  32. Pesky on 07 May 2009 at 1:46 pm #

(Looking at all the 20 year old roaring virility and hotness all rolled up into the active youth that is our future)

    (Thinking on it)

(Considering the fact he’s approximately 4 years older than my oldest nephew)

    (Thinking again)

OK, well…that’s far too much excitement for me for today. I’ll be taking a couple of geritol and a nap if you need me.

  33. JudyPatooty on 07 May 2009 at 1:58 pm #

And he’s just down the road from you, Julia. At least while he’s filming Friday Night Lights. Sounds like a road trip to Austin is in order. ;)

  34. Suzanne Enoch on 07 May 2009 at 2:19 pm #

    Pesky, you made me LOL.

  35. Sabrina Jeffries on 07 May 2009 at 7:12 pm #

I am SO woefully behind on my movie watching that it’s pathetic. I still haven’t seen Spiderman 3, for Pete’s sake. I think I’ve seen two Xmen movies. Or maybe just one. Can’t remember. I saw up through Terminator 3. How many have there been since that?

It doesn’t help that hubby hates movies like that, so I watch them by myself. Sigh. I really want to see Iron Man, but the one night when I carved out time to do it, something was wrong with my cable box and I couldn’t get ANY On Demand movies. And after it was fixed, I just never got around to it.

It’s very sad because I WOULD like a hot Cajun in a movie. *G*

  36. Santa on 07 May 2009 at 9:02 pm #

Lovely, that. I can’t wait to see this movie. Given my record it will probably be when it’s out on DVD! And this movie is chuck full of hot guys and Hugh Jackman in all his glory. Sigh. And there’s also Ryan Reynolds, though I seem to be alone in my fixation with him.

Marvelous job, hijacking Suzanne. Ever consider kidnapping?

    I’m just sayin’.

  37. Stella on 20 May 2009 at 10:11 pm #

I don’t usually watch movies in theatres because I like waiting for them to come out on dvd… if they are not so important to me. This year the only thing I have been waiting since November ‘08 for is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Seriously though… the trailer… is… amazing! Got to love Harry Potter and those who are in denial about it; stop.

Other than that, although I think Hugh Jackman is so hot, X-Men is not really my type of thing but I guess I loved him in Australia. I might wait for those X men movies to come to public television.

I heard something about Ice Age 3 back in winter and I think I will have to go check it out on google… it’s always a great movie to watch with my bros and family. Other than that there is nothing I look forward to.
