Welcome Guest Goddess Teresa Medeiros!

medeirospubsmallPlease welcome guest goddess Teresa Medeiros to Mt. Oly!

Teresa’s romances regularly appear on the New York Times, Publishers Weekly and USA Today bestseller lists. She’s a two-time winner of the Waldenbooks Award for Bestselling Fiction, a seven-time finalist for the highest award given by the Romance Writers of America, the RITA, and winner of the Romantic Times Award for Best Historical Love and Laughter.

That’s right. The Goddesses are trotting out yet another desperate guest blogger who’s going to pretend to be wildly clever and engaging just so you’ll rush out and buy her latest release. As the aforementioned wildly clever and engaging author, I decided to just skip the foreplay and give you the TOP TEN REASONS YOU SHOULD BUY SOME LIKE IT WILD:

1) Frappucinos don’t come cheap. At $3.71 a pop, I need at least $60 a month just to support my Starbucks habit. (And detox at a clinic in Switzerland is going to be even MORE pricey!)

2) Cats need kibble. As you can see from this pic, the economy already has my cats Buffy and Willow the Mouse Slayer worried about where their next packet of Tender Vittles will be coming from. (Or to be grammatically correct—from whence their next packet of Tender Vittles will…oh…never mind.)medeiroscats

3) You can stimulate the economy.

4) You can stimulate yourself. (Hey, get your minds out of the gutter! I meant you could stimulate your IMAGINATION.)

5) A Psychology Today study has proven that women who read romance have 78% more sex than women who don’t. And most of them are even having it with their husbands.

6) At the end of SOME LIKE IT WICKED (the first book in this series), Catriona’s long lost brother Connor was about to meet a grim fate. Aren’t you just the least bit curious to find out what happened to him?

medeirosairport7) If you don’t buy this book, I could end up being reduced to eating McDonald’s on the floor of the airport with Suzie Enoch for the rest of my life. (We were only a french fry away from having someone drop a quarter in our Coke cups.)

8) Romance novels are still an incredible entertainment value. I promise to whisk you away to the splendor of the Scottish Highlands and the exquisite glamour of the Regency London ballroom where an incredibly hot, brawny Highlander will make mad, passionate love to you for hours on end while proclaiming his eternal devotion. And all for only $7.99!

9) So my publisher will offer me another contract.wildsmall

10) So I can write more books that will bring me back to the Goddess Blogs where I will once again sacrifice all pride and good taste so I can beg you to buy them.

So what was the last book YOU bought and exactly why did you buy it? (For me it was SO ENCHANTING by Connie Brockway and DANGER IN A RED DRESS by Christina Dodd. I bought them because Connie and Christina know where I live and they would have come over and beaten me up if I hadn’t.)

Welcome to Mt Oly, Teresa!! We’re so thrilled to have you.

Naturally, the last book I bought was Some Like It Wild! And I bought it because I scarf your books like peanut M&M’s *G*

  2. Ayse on 02 Apr 2009 at 2:12 am #

    love the airport pic :)

The last book I bought was New Moon and the last ebook I bought was Julia’s – The Secret Lover

I currently live in Turkey so I usually can’t find most of the books I want unless they are ebooks (its so annoying because I use MS reader and with ebook readers you have to buy the ebook in only their format)

  3. Callie on 02 Apr 2009 at 4:04 am #

Hi Teresa! Love every one of your books that I’ve tried- so the last book I bought online was Some Like It Wild. Incidentally waiting for it has driven me so wild- had to run out to the bookstore to purchase something from your backlist. I went with Once an Angel…

  4. PJ on 02 Apr 2009 at 4:25 am #

Hi Teresa! LOL @ your top ten list. Since I definitely want you to get another contract and keep writing terrific books that give me lots and lots of reading pleasure, of course I rushed right out to buy SOME LIKE IT WILD the minute it hit the shelves at my local store. :)

The most recent book buying I did was yesterday. I picked up:

REWRITING MONDAY (Jodi Thomas) because I love her historicals and read a great review of this contemp.

TEMPTED AT MIDNIGHT (Jacquie D’Alessandro) because I’ve been waiting forever for Logan’s story.

PARADISE VALLEY (Robyn Carr) because I have fallen in love with her writing and the people of Virgin River.

TWENTY WISHES (Debbie Macomber) because she’s been a favorite of mine for over 20 years.

  5. Becky on 02 Apr 2009 at 4:52 am #

    Hi Teresa! Welcome!
The last book I bought was Tempted By His Kiss by Tracy Anne Warren. Why did I buy it? Well….it was on my list of To Buy boks, and I’d had a rough day and was at the Walmart by my house and there it was and…yeah, it was a compulsive therapeutic buy. But I don’t see anything wrong with that, right? It made me feel better.

  6. Gillian on 02 Apr 2009 at 5:22 am #

Teresa, maybe we should send that picture of you and Suzie to congress–they could write up a stimulus program for starving romance writers! ;)

I bought Queen Mary’s Then Comes Seduction a couple of days ago. Good stuff! Tomorrow’s my day off, and reading Some Like It Wild is on my list, along with a big cup of tea and a couple (or dozen) cookies I really don’t need.

  7. Margaret on 02 Apr 2009 at 5:48 am #

Here’s the deal, Teresa. I’ll buy Some Like it Wild if you’ll explain why you and Suzanne are playing Starving Artists at the airport.

I lied. I’m going to buy the book anyway. I am so weak. My favorite of your books is “Nobody’s Darling”. I’ve read it so many times I had to re-buy it. I love Billy. And I love the seen where Esmerelda tries to shoot Billy. What a cute couple.

My last book purchase was Mary Balogh’s “First Comes Marriage” and “Simply Perfect”.

And a big old welcome, Teresa. I think your 10 reasons are reasonable. We can’t have your cats worrying so much. They are practically down to skin & bones!

  8. Cail on 02 Apr 2009 at 5:58 am #

Teresa, I love your books! I’ll have to check out this series…

I’m trying to to think of the last book I bought. The last book I tried to buy was Taming Rafe by Suzanne Enoch, but was very sad to find out its out of print. I think before that, I bought the two latest Kathryn Caskie books and Stephanie Lauren’s latest Bastillon Club release. Or it was Eclipse and Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyers. I can’t remember which happened last.

I just told the DH about #5 and he laughed.

  9. LoriHandeland on 02 Apr 2009 at 6:13 am #

    Hi, Teresa!! And welcome.

Let’s see the last book I bought was The Hotel at the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. I’d heard good things and it sounded interesting–a book about the Japanese Internment Camps in WW2.

  10. Ayse on 02 Apr 2009 at 6:14 am #

Cail – you can get Taming Rafe in ebook format.

  11. amy1242 on 02 Apr 2009 at 6:38 am #

The last two books I bought were Danger in a Red Dress and SEP’s What I Did for Love. Both authors are auto buys. I love SEP’s character interaction. Always lively and very funny.
Welcome Teresa! You are also one of my auto buy authors and I will be picking up your book this weekend.
Lori, did you like The Hotel at the Corner of Bitter and Sweet? I’ve picked it up and looked at it but didn’t have the courage to buy it yet. I generally need to be in the right mood for a book like that, and it’s been a long cold winter here. Don’t need anything to add to the doldrums.

  12. nancyg on 02 Apr 2009 at 6:42 am #

    Teresa:

I’ve been scarfing down your books for years – I especially loved your “fairy tales”! Will check out the new series for sure…

I’ve been on a spy/mystery kick lately – the last books I bought were
The Silent Man by Alex Berenson – 3rd book in the series – the 1st one, The Faithful Spy, had me on the edge of my seat.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies – read the review in Entertainment Weekly and it sounded funny – Darcy, Bingley, and Elizabeth Bennett with zombie servants, too funny to resist! (haven’t read that one yet, though)
Fed Up – Susan & Jessica Conant-Park – has recipes included in the back

    I usually read romances either…
when the sun is out & I’m hanging next to the pool, watching my 10-year old do another corkscrew turn off the diving board
when it’s just plain icky outside, crank up the gas jets on the fireplace and “go away” to another time & place (laundry, what laundry?)

Last romances (on TBR pile ’til summer)
Lord Easterbrook, So Enchanting, Danger in a Red Dress, Talk of the Town, Romance a Charming Rogue, Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dream Warrior, Susan Grant’s Warlord’s Daughter, Heather Graham’s Death Dealer

  13. elsiehogarth on 02 Apr 2009 at 6:47 am #

Welcome Teresa! Loved Some Like It Wild and was glad to see Connor’s reunion with sister Catriona. Please tell me that Crispin & Sophie are next. I just love them…you knw they belong together.

This week I’ve read Smooth Talking Stranger by Lisa Kleypas….excellent and I’m in the middle of Lynsay Sands’ The Immortal Hunter…I always enjoy her vampire books and my next book to read will be Malice by Lisa Jackson. The book I am looking forwarding to reading is Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen & Seth Grahame-Smith. I’ve been hearing good things about this book especially that Whitcomb gets his in this telling of P&P.

  14. LoriHandeland on 02 Apr 2009 at 7:02 am #

Amy–I’m only part way through and it’s interesting. But not exactly on the light side. Kind of sad reading what happened back then to Americans by Americans.

  15. Lisa H on 02 Apr 2009 at 7:02 am #

Hi Teresa!!!!! Love you! I just bought Enchanting by Connie. Just finished Book of Scandal by our own Julia London. I read “Some like it Wicked” before that, finished it in two days and yes I have been waiting for the next one.

Welcome to The Goddess Blogs, I miss the Squwakers!

  16. Louisa Cornell on 02 Apr 2009 at 7:12 am #

Hello, Teresa! In the interest of keeping your cats well fed I will definitely run out and snap up Some Like It Wild. Actually I would have bought it anyway as I buy ALL of your books. My favorites? Charming the Prince and Brighter than the Sun, followed by everything else you have written. Last bought? Mary Balogh’s Then Comes Seduction, Deanna Raybourne’s Silent on the Moors, Colleen Gleason’s As Shadows Fade – oh, and a research book – Madmen by Roy Porter.

For those of you who don’t know, Teresa is one of my very favorite people as her comments on my chapter Tiger, tiger burning bright in the Avon FanLit event set my feet on the path to writing historical romances. I have those comments framed and even got her to autograph them when she came to a luncheon in Birmingham. The keynote address she delivered there had everyone in tears. If you ever get the chance to hear her speak do so!

And as I bask in the glow of my second Golden Heart final in as many years I want to say THANK YOU TERESA! I’m having a ball!

Now its off to clean out the litter boxes and then off to work at Wal-Mart. Ah, the glamorous life of an aspiring romance writer!

  17. LisaK on 02 Apr 2009 at 7:42 am #

    Welcome to Mt Oly, Teresa!!!

Let me tell you that as a very helpful and generous person I’ll buy “Some Like It Wild” as soon as I can get it here. I can’t stand the thought of you and Suzie having to eat only McDonald’s food…

The last books I bought were “Then Comes Seduction” by Mary Balogh because she has one of the most romantic voices out there.
“Love With The Perfect Scoundrel” by Sophia Nash because it sounded good when I read about it on her website.
“Bride Of A Wicked Scotsman” by Samantha James because I’ve read the first two in that trilogy and wanted to know how the last man standing would be doing.
“Seduced At Midnight” by Jacquie D’Alessandro because I fell in love with the characters in that series and with Jacquie’s writing style and with almost everything else in her books.

So that were the last four books I read, I think. In general you could say that I buy many books because there are reviews for them on RNTV which I follow regularly (and which has some reviewers who write here, too, if I’m not mistaken) and which is the best source to get to know about unknown to me authors and books.

  18. Claudia Dain on 02 Apr 2009 at 7:46 am #

Hi Teresa! Welcome! I love your list. Let’s hear it for honesty! I’m sure this series will soar up the charts.

The last novel I bought was Hold Tight by Harlan Coben. He’s an auto-buy for me, and a safe one since I don’t usually read romance while I’m writing one. And since I’m usually writing one…it’s sad, really.

The last book I bought was The Barbary Wars by Frank Lambert. Fascinating look into the situation in the Mediterranean for American ships right after the American Revolution. “…to the shores of Tripoli…” from the Marine Corps anthem refers to this period in American history. I’m currently writing about an American heroine from a shipping family and she has two sea captain brothers. Will someone end up in Tripoli? Very possibly. I love research!

Have a great day on the Mt. and congratulations on your new release!

  19. Sabrina Jeffries on 02 Apr 2009 at 8:07 am #

Welcome, Teresa! How odd that we both have such vindictive friends. MY last purchase was of Kill for Me and To Romance A Charming Rogue, for the exact same reason as yours–that Karen Rose and Nicole Jordan would give me the cut direct at the next Goddess Ball if I didn’t! :-)

Seriously, though, it’s great to have you here. I’m sure Some Like It Wild will sell like hotcakes!

  20. Connie (know where Terri lives) Brockway on 02 Apr 2009 at 8:11 am #

I only allow myself to hit the bookstores once a week when I have a book due so last book bought was Lisa’s SMT (but it was a download so I could listen) and Tom Collecio’s (sp?)
    Wichcraft.

But I gots me a coupon burning a hole in my pocket and am planning an assault on Border’s this weekend!

And of course, I’ll be picking up my own copy of Some Like it Wild. Because Terri where I live, too…

  21. Madeline Hunter on 02 Apr 2009 at 8:25 am #

Hi, Teresa! Welcome to Mt. Oly.
My most recent purchase was Karen R’s Kill for Me. Then I descended into deadline hell where I don’t get to read anything except sections of research books.
So glad you are with us, and I’m looking forward to Some Like it Wild!

  22. Julia London on 02 Apr 2009 at 8:29 am #

Hi Terry and welcome to Mt. Oly!

The last book I bought was Water for Elephants, but Sara Gruen. Not a romance, but pretty engaging. I love the cover of your book. Love those colors as much as I love your books.

  23. SuzyQ on 02 Apr 2009 at 8:30 am #

Hi Teresa!!! Welcome to Mt. Oly. I loved Some Like It Wicked (it was my beach book last vacation) and can’t wait to read Some Like It Wild.

The last book I bought was Sophie Jordan’s Sins of a Wicked Duke. I read the synopsis and picked it up (as a plus I had a coupon!)

BTW, love the pic of you and Suzanne in the airport.

  24. Gillian on 02 Apr 2009 at 8:34 am #

You are a bad, bad influence, Teresa. I drove past Starbucks on my way to drop off papers at work and now have a big ole’ caramel frappucino on my desk….with a piece of coffee cake so it doesn’t get lonely…

  25. SheridanLA on 02 Apr 2009 at 8:42 am #

Fun! Theresa, I still have my original copy of Touch of Enchantment. Though it disappeared at some point, I also love Breath of Magic. I have read many of your others, but for some reason hang onto those. I have enjoyed them all…course now I am going to have to hunt them down again since this sparked my brain into remembering the stories. ;)

Enough fangirl – onto the question:
Danger in a Red Dress – it is the latest of the series and I usually like her books.
The Beginning Runner’s Handbook – because I have a triathlon to train for and need lots-o-help with running.
Blue Moon from Lori Handeland because I just discovered her (thanks to TGB) and really liked Any Given Doomsday – so wanted to read more by her.
(these were all in the same order, so I counted them as one purchase. )

    thanks for stopping in!

  26. Suzanne Enoch on 02 Apr 2009 at 8:52 am #

Oh, that picture! Such memories of our vagabond days, Teresa; hanging out in airports, bumming pens and scraps of paper from passersby, signing hotel registers to practice our autographs…Ah, the good old days. Of last year. *g*

I’m getting Some Like It Wild tomorrow — my weekly trip out of my dark lair of deadlines.

  27. Keira on 02 Apr 2009 at 8:57 am #

    Hi Teresa!

The very last books I bought were audio erotica. Before that the last print books I bought were 2 Native American romances, 2 Historical romances that I believe are Regency or thereabout based. All six are from new authors that I decided to try. The last library books I got out were Loretta Chase’s Your Scandalous Ways and about 4 Lisa Kleypas (who has become my new Teresa Medeiros in terms of devouring every book ever written by said author.) I love love LOVE Charming the Prince. Le sigh… it’s the first book I think of when I want to reread something.

  28. Teresa Medeiros on 02 Apr 2009 at 9:11 am #

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys! I’m thrilled to be here on Mt. Olympus with you today and would like to thank one of my favorite touring buddies and fellow uber-geek Suzie Enoch for the invitation. (Okay, so actually I begged her to let me come and she graciously allowed it.)

Callie, thanks for buying ONCE AN ANGEL! Emily Claire remains one of my favorite heroines because she got to do all of the naughty things I can only dream about (like setting the lobsters free at a dinner party).

Hi PJ! You’re becoming even more famous than I am. They used that pic you took of me signing books in Atlanta in my local newspaper this week!

Margaret, what can I say? When two authors are stuck in an airport for hours, what else is there to do but loll about in the floor scarfing up MickyD’s. Especially when those two authors are me and Suzie. It’s all part of the glamour and mystique of the bestselling author!

  29. Eloisa James on 02 Apr 2009 at 9:15 am #

    Hello Miss Teresa!

I’ve already read your book (which is luscious!) but I spent yesterday evening in bed watching American Idol with one eye (I’m in love with Adam — and yes, I know he’s gay, but when did THAT ever stop a crush) and reading Nalini Singh’s Branded by Fire with the other eye. For those of you who like paranormal, it’s the next changeling paranormal, due out in July — and it’s nearly as terrific as Teresa’s! Not quite because it doesn’t have a luscious highlander in it.

    Eloisa

  30. gibb on 02 Apr 2009 at 9:16 am #

    Hey there Teresa

Yours Until Dawn is one of my favorites. You’re awesome!

Last book I bought was Dark Victory – Brenda Joyce – love Scottish dudes.

  31. Teresa Medeiros on 02 Apr 2009 at 9:18 am #

Cail, your husband will be even happier when he finds out #5 is true! ;)

Thanks Nancy G for being such a devoted reader :)

Elsie, I’m not doing Sophie and Crispin’s story next but I think I may definitely come back to them someday. What would you suggest? SOME LIKE IT WILLING…SOME LIKE IT WANTON…SOME LIKE IT WOOLY? And my copy of SMOOTH TALKING STRANGER finally arrived yesterday. I can’t wait to read it! I adored BLUE-EYED DEVIL.

Louisa, Congrats on finaling again in the Golden Heart! I can’t wait to be able to say, “I knew her when…”

That’s right, Connie! You’d better buy my book or I’ll track you down. But given the weather there, I’m a little worried it’ll require a sled and a team of huskies.

Oh Gillian, there’s nothing like topping off some delicious sugar with more sugar! I just HAD to go to Starbucks last night to hang up a flier advertising my autograph signing on Saturday. And while I was there…

  32. Teresa Medeiros on 02 Apr 2009 at 9:19 am #

Sheridan, Of course BREATH OF MAGIC disappeared. It’s magic… (But you can always restore the magic to your life by buying another copy. Bantam is going to be bringing out both BREATH OF MAGIC and TOUCH OF ENCHANTMENT in special $4.99 editions in September :) )

  33. Teresa Medeiros on 02 Apr 2009 at 9:22 am #

Keira, I can’t think of another author more fun to glom than Lisa Kleypas. And such a rich backlist! Yummy! (Of course if Christina Dodd pops over later, I’ll switch the name in that sentence. Because I’m afraid. Deeply afraid.)

Oops, or Eloisa James. Hi Eloisa!!! (Teresa waves frantically at her brilliant, talented and gorgeous friend.)

  34. Teresa Medeiros on 02 Apr 2009 at 9:27 am #

Thanks for the welcome Claudia, Madeline, Sabrina, and Lori. It’s so much fun to hang out with writers I admire so much! Madeline and I go way back. She’s my favorite “broad” :)

  35. JudyPatooty on 02 Apr 2009 at 9:40 am #

    Welcome to Mt. Oly, Teresa!

I’m definitely adding Some Like It Wild to my Books to Buy list! Gotta keep the cats happy, ya know. :) Oh, and because I just can’t resist a good Scottish romance.

The last book I bought was actually five books – I downloaded the Kindle versions of the whole Swanlea Spinster series by Goddess Sabrina!

  36. Pesky on 02 Apr 2009 at 9:58 am #

:D Ok, I’ll go buy. The cats convinced me. :D The eating french fries on the floor with Suzanne wasn’t exactly in your favor though…sounds like fun was had by all. :D

Good luck and I hope this one makes the list as well.

  37. Pesky on 02 Apr 2009 at 10:06 am #

Hmmm…forgot to answer the question, last book I bought. I picked up about 10 last night including yours…
I think the LAST one I picked off the shelf was Sharon Sala’s The Warrior. I like her style of writing, so I figured I’d pick it up and see what was up.

It’s always easier to figure out why I didn’t pick up a book than why I did. My reading tastes are like my music tastes, part writers I know and trust to give me a good story, a synopsis that catches my eye, someone recommended it to me, present interest, work, liked the cover and decided to judge the book by it and finally the whole “hail Mary” method where I’m stuck somewhere and I NEED to read something and please let this book not sucketh.

  38. Noelle (Chloe Harris) on 02 Apr 2009 at 10:18 am #

Hi Teresa! I am a long time admirer of your work. Lucinda Snow is on my list of top five heroines of all time. No one never made be feel great about my stick straight hair till you did with that book. Who needs frivolous curls!

The last book I bought was American Gods by Neal Gaiman because my husband read Anansi Boys and he almost never reads so I wanted to encourage him to keep at it.

I can’t remember if the last romance I bought was Susan Johnson’s At Her Service or Madeline’s Sins of Lord Easterbrook. Madeline’s because she’s an auto-buy period. And Susan’s because I needed a comfort book and she always delivers that for me

  39. Noelle (Chloe Harris) on 02 Apr 2009 at 10:19 am #

Sorry for the typos above. Work is crazy and my ADD seems to be worse than ususal.

  40. RachieG on 02 Apr 2009 at 10:29 am #

Teresa, sooo excited about your new book. It was even on my calendar! :P

The last book I bought was “Then Comes Seduction” by Mary Balogh and Larrisa Ione’s “Passion Unleashed”

I’m hopeful their both good :) Both good authors, so I guess we’ll see! :)

  41. Teresa Medeiros on 02 Apr 2009 at 10:45 am #

Hi Pesky! We love you a lot for buying 10 books on your shopping trip! That’s probably why the stock market is having such a great day today. You really DID stimulate the economy! ;)

Hey Noelle, I had so much fun writing for Lucinda in THIEF OF HEARTS. My favorite line was when she met Gerard for the “first” time. “My name is Lucinda Snow. My friends call me Lucy. You may call me Miss Snow.”

  42. colinfirthfan on 02 Apr 2009 at 10:55 am #

    Welcome Teresa.

The last 4 books I bought – Jean Johnson’s _ the Song and The Cat (bks 4 and 5 from the Sons of Destiny).
Nalini Singh’s – Angel’s Blood (amazing book. Love her books)
and the 3rd of the 39 Clues books which my 8 year old and I are reading.
    :)

OMG Eloisa – you read Branded by Fire? I am SO jealous. I can’t wait to read Mercy’s book.

Oh I also got an ARC from Elizabeth Vaughn – White Star. Amazing book! Even better than Dagger Star.

  43. Rachel Gibson on 02 Apr 2009 at 10:57 am #

    Hi Teresa!!

Hmm, the last book I bought was Idiot’s Guide to Exotic and Pole Dancing. Mr. G’s eyes lit up when he saw it. Alas, my last book had a stripper heroine and I was doing research. I never practiced the moves, but it did come with a dvd . . . so maybe someday.

  44. Kathleen on 02 Apr 2009 at 10:58 am #

Hello Teresa, You are a new author to me. I have one of your books in my TBR pile “Some Like It Wicked. I was luck enough to win it in a contest on one of my on-line chats. I have not had the pleasure of reading it yet, but I will get to it. Just reading the back cover I know you are going to be a regular on my tbr list. I love Highland beauties and their Handsome Knight who come to the resuce. So I know this one is going to be a winner. You can bet I will be reading all the books in this series.

I would hate for you to end up on a diet of Big Macs and french fries. Not that this is a bad thing for some. And cutting into your Frappucino budget, well that will never do!!
So I will try to put a few dollars in your coiffers……

  45. LauraR on 02 Apr 2009 at 11:45 am #

Already bought “Some Like It Wild” cause I *need* to find out what happens to Connor.
Others I bought this week are “Confessions of a Little Black Dress” by Elizabeth Boyle – next in the series
“Montana Creeds: Tyler” by Linda Lael Miller – last of a trilogy
and one other, all at my local Target cause they were 25% off and on my TBR list. It is the only way I can justify buying 4 books. ;)

  46. Suzanne Enoch on 02 Apr 2009 at 11:45 am #

Hey, why didn’t you show the picture of us on the airplane, with me busy working and you snoring and a little drool at the corner of your mouth? Just wondering. *g*

Oh, and the last book I bought was Geoffrey Howse’s “The A-Z Book of London Murders”. Just a little light reading.

  47. Lisa Kleypas on 02 Apr 2009 at 11:51 am #

Hello Teresa darling! (And all you gorgeous goddesses) . . . I bought Some Like It Wild through proxy (told Greg to get it while he was out doing errands) and Connie’s So Enchanting, and then I bought a bunch of tee shirts and cashmere from J.Crew’s big 30 percent off sale . . . but I guess we’re supposed to be talking about books, aren’t we . . .

  48. Santa on 02 Apr 2009 at 11:59 am #

Greetings Teresa! My, but it’s been an age!

What good books have I bought lately and why or did I buy and why did I love them?

There’s been a slew of goddess books that have curled my toes. Your last book was beast(ly) and apparently that means it was great! Can’t wait for Conner’s story. Naturally, since we now have or will have in short order Conner’s story at hand, I want to know what’s next on your hit parade.

A little birdie sent me Connie’s book and I adored it. I read Christina’s because she took my advice about writing Gabe’s story and acknowledged me for it. How cool is that? I’m stil tickled pinkish because of it.

I am on pins and needles for Lisa’s latest and greatest. As well as Suzanne’s and Julia’s and Madeline’s and Claudia’s – it looks like I’ll have to travel to Amazon land for that one. Which is cool.

J Perry sends her best. Her computer sputtered out on her. Hopefully she’ll be up and running soon.

So spill. What other gems do you have up your sleeve?

Rachel Gibson – didn’t you wonder why your husband was installing that stripper pole in your BR?

Adding Rachel’s latest and greatest to the pile!

  50. Teresa Medeiros on 02 Apr 2009 at 12:35 pm #

Oh Rachel, I’m laughing so hard! I’d love to see you “working that pole” at the next Avon cocktail party ;)

Thanks Kathleen and Laura for contributing to my KITTY KIBBLE FUND! Meow!

Now Suzie, you know I destroyed that picture. After all, who would believe that you would be working while I was napping and drooling. Really!

Hi Lisa! The only thing better than buying books is sending your husband out to buy them for you. Give him a big hug from me! :)

Hi Santa! Tell J Perry we’re having a lovely and wish she was here! I know she’s going to love the crochety old duke in SOME LIKE IT WILD. He’s her favorite type of guy!

As for what’s next, I just signed a new three-book contract with Pocket and I’m working on the first one. In the very first scene, my heroine is about to get married when another one of those pesky Highlanders rides into the church and sweeps her off her feet (literally) :)

LOL, I’m certainly NOT the reason the economy would have dipped yesterday. Books, Hairstuff, Victoria’s Secret for lotions, a new pair of petal pink keds one stars…the list is endless. :D

Welcome Teresa, Last book(s) I picked up were Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Acheron, Lori Devoti- DarkCrusade, Vivi Anna – The Vampire’s Quest. Before that I picked up back list of Susanne Enoch, Nicole Jordan and Julie Kenner. I have to checkout the book shelves every time I enter a store, any store with books. I will have to go back now and get your book, bad Teresa making me feel guilty about your kitties and Starbuck’s habit. Caramel Macchiato is my downfall.

  53. Samantha on 02 Apr 2009 at 1:55 pm #

    Hi Teresa!
I sure do miss all you Squawkers! Your banter and your sense of humor are sorely missed!

Let’s see.. the last romance books I bought were some Harlequin Super Romance books.. Love them.
I am looking forward to your new book.

  54. Cail on 02 Apr 2009 at 1:57 pm #

Ayse, I don’t have an ebook reader and have far too much work for grad school to sit by the computer and read a book. I might break down though, and buy it.

  55. Margaret on 02 Apr 2009 at 2:27 pm #

I’m fascinated by the books you all buy for research. Stripper poles? London murders? Wow.

I’m off to work on my daughter-in-law’s eMachine. For which I’m being paid in stuffed pork chops & broccoli. Mainly, I’m going to see if more memory will solve the problem.

Checking back in later. This looks like a convention of many of my favorite authors today.

    Ciao.

All the squawkers are out in force!!

    Rachel-OMG, that’s too funny!

    Hi Teresa!

Shadows and Lace was the book that jump-started my reading romance after a long dry spell. I still have the original and a replacement — just in case. You autographed my copies at an NJRW Conference some time ago.

The last book I purchased was Karen R’s Kill for Me because I just had to know what happened after reading the first two books in the series. I cancelled all my Amazon pre-orders for March and April due to a long trip so I’m going to replace those books at WalMart tomorrow, including Some Like It Wild.

Margaret, can I help with DIL’s machine for some pork chops? Sounds yummy.

  58. Judy on 02 Apr 2009 at 3:55 pm #

HI TERESA!!! *Waving hand like madwoman*

Gah, I’m so going to B&N to by SLIWild! I HAVE to know what happens with Conner and why he’s in his present perdicament!

Ok, the last book(s) I bought and the reasons:

    1) Dark Deeds at Night’s Edge by Kresley Cole. Reason: I’m ADDICTED to this series, and Conrad is just so yummy and intriguing.

    2) The Sins of Lord Easterbrook by Madeline Hunter. Reason: Christian! There’s no other reason but that lol.

    3) Devil’s Bride by Stephanie Laurens. Reason: I’ve so many good things about this book, that I thought it was high time to find out for myself why it’s so good.

Welcome back to Mt. Oly, Teresa! Hilarious blog… thanks for making my day.

Funny you should ask about our latest purchases cause two days ago I bought SLIW! Also got Lee Child’s lastest pb thriller Nothing Left to Lose, Karen Kendall’s delightful contemp Take Me Two Times, and Sarah Mayberrys latest Blaze, She’s Got It Bad. Haven’t had time to start any of them yet but I’ve got a lot of yummy reading to look forward to.

I ordered 5 more books from Amazon today. Xtina Dodd’s new book, Samantha James’s latest. Lynsay Sand – Devil of the Highlands. DawnKeepers – Jessica Andersen and book 6 of the Sons of Destiny by Jean johnson.
I’m on a roll with that series. Have to read all 8 books.

  61. Teresa Medeiros on 02 Apr 2009 at 4:38 pm #

Hey dbrown! Glad to hear you’re still holding on to BOTH of your copies of SHADOWS AND LACE :)

HI Judy! (Teresa waves back at you.) It’s been so much fun to “see” everybody today. We miss everybody from Squawk Radio too but I’m thrilled that you’ve found a new “home” here on Mt. Oly :)

Thanks Nicole! Judging from your booklist, I’d say you have exquisite taste in literature. I really appreciate your hospitality today!

  62. Teresa Medeiros on 02 Apr 2009 at 4:39 pm #

Putting Teresa’s and Lisa’s books on my list.

  64. PJ on 02 Apr 2009 at 4:55 pm #

Nice news article, Teresa! Glad you’re getting so much mileage from the photo. You get just as much credit for that photo as I do. The camera loves you! :)

  65. MizMacgyver on 02 Apr 2009 at 6:19 pm #

Geez Teresa I was planning on getting it anyway but reasons 2 and 6 just increased my anxiety to the point I won’t wait until after work I will go before.

The last book I bought was Tawny Weber’s Coming On Strong, I love her writing too.

  66. Louisa Cornell on 02 Apr 2009 at 7:23 pm #

I was halfway to work this morning when I realized what an idiot I am. When I pulled up my list of all time favorite romances on LibraryThing I looked down when I should have looked up! So PLEASE forgive me, Teresa. I know you didn’t write Brighter Than The Sun. My two favorites that you DID write are – Charming the Prince and Yours Until Dawn, followed by everything else you have written. Sheesh! That’s what I get for going online without my first cup of Earl Gray in the AM!

  67. Karen Hawkins on 02 Apr 2009 at 8:41 pm #

Hi Teresa! I was traveling today and wasn’t able to post — went to TN to visit my kids and got to hang on the campus of UT-K (GO, VOLS! … ok, I’m only a fan by proxy, but still … GO, VOLS!) so I’m sorry I wasn’t here to welcome you when you know you’re one of my favorite authors EVER.

(People, seriously, you should check out FAIREST OF THEM ALL — one of my top ten ever romance reads.)

However, though I couldn’t be here today, I bought SOME LIKE IT WILD at the news stand in the Knoxville, TN airport, and have already read the ENTIRE book. Conner and Pamela are INCREDIBLE!

Thank you for another great read!

Oh, and welcome to the MT! :)

  68. TinaLouiseF on 02 Apr 2009 at 11:57 pm #

I’m so bummed that I missed Teresa, and I miss Squawk Radio.
I’ve already picked up “Some Like It Wicked”.
Impatiently waiting for Rachel, Suzanne and Julia’s new books.

  69. Kristi on 05 Apr 2009 at 9:24 pm #

I picked it up yesterday! I’m on a ‘book budget’ lately *sniff* so I’ve been getting a lot of stuff from the library but some things I MUST. HAVE. NOW. Which includes your book. :)

See my Tweet from yesterday to prove it!
