I’m a Believer… sorta maybe?

Last Saturday at our barn’s small charity hunter horse show, my trainer brought in a Pet Psychic (actually this lady prefers the term “Pet Communicator”) to give readings for horse owners and their horses. So I asked her to talk to my 4-year old mare, Riva, and find out what’s up with her.

Riva said some very interesting things! The communication that made me feel the best was that she’s happy in her new home so she says I don’t need to worry about her so much. She doesn’t miss Florida, which surprised me because Utah has no grass pastures, whereas central Florida has countless acres of delicious grass and great turnout so horses can play and stretch their legs. Riva also said she was very proud of her success in that morning’s show and knew she had done well. And that she didn’t know what to make of my trainer’s goat since they didn’t have goats at her former home. (I have it on good authority that other horses in our barn like the goat a lot and enjoy his stall visits.)

As for me, Riva said I worked too hard and that she would like me to come out to see her more. That makes two of us! Oh, and she wants to go on a trail ride instead of just working in our outdoor arena.

I’ve know friends who’ve had their dogs “read” by a different animal physic, and supposedly, she sees images and pictures from her animal subjects. Our lady communicator said she gets pictures, thoughts, and feelings, and can even read over the phone. Which makes me a little suspicious, I admit. As an engineer by education, I tend to be skeptical of things that can’t be proven.

On the other hand, my friend had his husky “read” last year, and she was able to diagnose a potentially life-threatening thyroid problem that the dog’s vet had completely missed. A blood test confirmed her reading, and medication has since totally controlled the dog’s symptoms.

So… I’m not quite sure what to believe. Is this like magicians? Once you know the tricks you can figure out “how they done it?”

I’m sure psychics are very observant and perceptive. They’re good at reading body language and tone of voice, and picking up on cues we people give off unconsciously. And then they make excellent educated guesses. On the other hand, sometimes they really do seem to know things they couldn’t possibly know any other way than if they truly read animals’ minds.

Do you believe in psychic powers? How about Ouija boards, seances, fortune tellers, Tarot cards? Have you ever had a “reading” that you could swear was the real thing?

And finally, whether you believe or not, if a pet pshchic talked to your pet, what would he/she say?

Yes Nicole I am very much a believer in psychic powers. I come from a very psychic family so that helps. Sometimes, not often thankfully, our 11 year old will respond to something he swears someone said to or about him. What he heard was what we were thinking.
As for Ouija boards I wouldn’t mess with them, you never know who or what you might be inviting in. Tarot cards are something we use frequently but don’t follow religiously but they are open to many interruptions.
When our sons were about 10 & 12 they were spending a couple pf weeks with my parents in Nebraska and had gone camping with them. My husband and I were at home watching TV when the doors to both boys rooms started opening and slamming closed repeatedly. My husband told me to call my parents but since they were camping they were out of touch. Several hours later we reached my brother who told us that mom and dad had nearly drowned at the lake when their boat turned over and ours sons had helped rescue them. Our mom can’t swim and she panicked. This happened at the same time the doors had gone crazy in LA.
Phone psychics I am leery of but I have always wanted to have a reading by John Edwards or someone he respects.

Ohhh, how cool! I don’t know if I believe it, but I think it’s fun! I live near Cassadega, ‘psychic center of the world’:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassadaga,_Florida

I’ve always wanted to roam the main street (which is pretty much the ONLY street in town) and get a reading from one of the many psychics and mystics that have shops there. I’ve never had an accurate ‘reading’ so I don’t know if it’s possible. Still, it’d be fun!

I know what that psychic would see if they looked into my dogs’ brains. One would be thinking, “Food! Food! Food!” And the other would be thinking, “Scratch me! Scratch me! Scratch me!” They’re pretty simple creatures.

  3. Karen Hawkins on 29 Oct 2008 at 6:01 am #

Btw, when you look at the Cassadaga town website, you’ll note that they have Bingo. Wouldn’t that be problematic in a town of psychics?

    Just sayin’ . . .

  4. cail on 29 Oct 2008 at 6:46 am #

    LOL about the Bingo!

Evlqn, I have a lot of that stuff in my family too. Nearly every time I start talking about my brother, the phone rings and it’s him. I don’t mention him all that often, nor does he call often, so it definitely is connected. I also usually go looking for my phone to check it for any calls right before it rings. This especially happens when I want the DH to call. In the days before caller ID, my father usually guessed at like a 95% accuracy who was calling on our house line.

I haven’t broken out my Tarot cards recently, but I think that has a lot to do with the fact that I have few questions right now in my life. I used them a lot a few years back when I wanted readings on things. I used to meet up with a friend at the Life Cafe in NYC late at night and we’d get rice pudding and read our cards.

  5. Kathy/Cookiedough on 29 Oct 2008 at 7:20 am #

I dunno if I believe in readings and things of that nature.
I was given a reading by rune stones years ago and according to the stones, I would be an environmental journalist by now.
    and did that happen? nope!
I did have a scary moment with a ouji board in my 20s but looking back, it was someone messing with my head.

  6. Sabrina Jeffries on 29 Oct 2008 at 7:40 am #

I’m on the fence. I once had a psychic reading from a friend that really resonated with me, but it was about past lives, so it would be hard to “prove” it true, if you know what I mean.

Having read so much about magicians for my next book (the hero is a Spanish magician), I tend to be skeptical. But unlike more skeptical friends, I don’t rule it out.

  7. Margaret on 29 Oct 2008 at 7:41 am #

Ouija boards were the hot thing at slumber parties back in the 50’s. I don’t recall anything momentous ever being told by one. Possibly because the only questions put to it were about boys. We were teen girls, after all. What else was there to ask about?

I’ve had several reading over the years but not much that was predicted ever happened. A physic in Dallas told me I would be married 3 times. At the time, I had only been married once and hadn’t met the future DH yet. I’m still waiting on #3 but not holding my breath. Unless it’s Sean Connery, I don’t want to be nursing some old geezer in his twilight years. I want to enjoy mine.

I want to believe. I really do. But I’m conflicted. I had some experiences right after my DH died. His smell, a photo moving one place to another. After a year, that stopped. I felt he wanted me to know he was happy and not in pain anymore.

  8. Margaret on 29 Oct 2008 at 7:49 am #

Sabrina, there was a book written around the late 50’s/early 60’s about past lives. It’s the first one I recall reading and was quite popular. I can’t remember the name of the book but I think it had Bridget in the title. It was an interesting book. No longer in print, of course.

Whoever wrote the book claimed to be a therapist and that they had done research into history to prove that the people she was in past lives really existed.

  9. Kari on 29 Oct 2008 at 8:09 am #

I’m sitting on the fence with Sabrina. I’ve never had a reading but I don’t think I would be against it if it was presented. I use to love watching John Edwards’ show a few years ago. I think there are some things that happen in life that you just can’t explain but are real. I can’t tell you how many times I would be thinking about someone and they would call not 10 seconds later. OR I would buy a lottery ticket and already know that I would not be a winnner. haha
I’m not a big fan of Ouija boards. I think it’s because I’ve seen too many freaky “true” stories on Discovery or SciFi channel. You know, the ones of people who’s homes were possessed or haunted and they whipped out the Ouija board to find some answers and it turned out badly. Not for me, thank you.
I think it’s super cool that you got to find out what your hourse was thinking, Nicole. But she’s got nothing on Mr. Ed. :)

  10. Louisa Cornell on 29 Oct 2008 at 8:42 am #

How neat, Nicole! I think I am more inclined to believe in a pet psychic than I am a human one. Animals are more open to that sort of thing. They exist more on the spiritual plane than we do. After my dh passed away there were many times our old dog, Sasha, would look at a doorway or at Roger’s chair and her tail would wag like crazy. She would look at me with that “Dad’s here!” look on her face. I think my late Great Dane visits too as my cat will brush into thing air, purring from time to time. I think a rare few people have the ability to read the energy/spirit that floats around the world, but not many. I stay away from Ouija boards as I think they COULD open a door to the other side. Don’t like open doors when I don’t know who might walk in. The heroine in my latest book has the ability to touch an animal and see its memories. Handy, as she is trying to solve a murder before the murderer solves her!

  11. Nicole Jordan on 29 Oct 2008 at 9:24 am #

Wow, some of you have had some very serious experiences!

Evlqn, that is wild about your parents. And Karen, that is a funny thought about the bingo!

As for the phone thing, that happens to me a lot (although not as much as you, Cail!) I’ll be thinking of someone I have thought of in a while, and then I’ll hear from them or about them. Both people I know and perfect strangers such as actors and actresses. I’ll start wondering what those stars are up to, and then shortly I’ll hear about a new movie they’re in, or something else about their lives.

  12. Nicole Jordan on 29 Oct 2008 at 9:27 am #

Sabrina, very cool occupation for your hero! He just does that as his job, right? He doesn’t do real magic?

Lousia, that’s really fun about your heroine having those powers when she needs to solve a murder.

For writers who write paranormals with these kinds of abilities, I wonder, how much do you make up or base on what you’ve heard?

  13. Nicole Jordan on 29 Oct 2008 at 9:32 am #

KathyCD, looking back, I can see how our pet communicator could have deduced all the things she told me just by guessing well. But that doesn’t explain how the other lady knew about my friend’s dog’s condition.

Maragret, you never know! Maybe Sean is still waiting in your future *s*.

Kariu, one of my late friends used to be a huge John Edwards fan. She even got tickets to be on his show, and she was really disappointed when he didn’t call on her.

  14. Freedom Writer on 29 Oct 2008 at 9:32 am #

I remember playing with a Ouija board as a kid. I believe that anything is possible. I sometimes seem to have psychic moments like the day I saw a former boss ride away from work on his motorcycle without his helmet on and thought some day he is going to wish he had worn his helmet on his bike, and a couple month later he died of head injuries after crashing his motorcycle as he rode sans helmet. I have Taro cards, but am not proficient in reading them nor am I sure that the results I get are reliable.

I am another big fan of John Edwards, and would love to be read by him, but I would have to have pretty strong proof to completely believe that a family member was coming through. I do believe in afterlife so why wouldn’t people there want to check in on us every once in a while.

  15. Nicole Jordan on 29 Oct 2008 at 9:42 am #

KarenH, you gave me an idea so I added another question to the blog! I’d love to know what you all think your pets would say if they got read by a phychic.

I’d guess my mare would have the same thoughts as your dog… “Food, food, food.” I’ve never seen a horse who likes to eat so much.

  16. Julia London on 29 Oct 2008 at 9:57 am #

I’ve never done this, Nicole, but right now, I would try anything. Hugo, my almost 14 year old lab, has taken up barking recently. He barks when I am in the other room. He barks when he is sitting right in front of me and barks AT me. I have to try and guess what he wants. Biscuit? Out? Its driving me nuts.

I swear I think he just wants to go get on his pillow and he wants me to go with him, or something like that. I would love to know what he is trying to tell me.

  17. Julia London on 29 Oct 2008 at 9:59 am #

Louisa, a few years ago I went to a psychic — long before my stepson got into trouble. That psychic told me there would be a baby in my life that would be more important to me than anything else in my life, and if I didn’t know the baby, I would eventually. I was in my 40s, never had children, couldn’t have children, and I thought, I paid for THIS?

Needless to say, she was on to something, LOL

  18. Margaret on 29 Oct 2008 at 10:20 am #

    Good addition, Nicole. LOL

My black Cocker Spaniel aka Bella the Wonder Dog would probably say “Are you going eat ALL that?”. Trying to look pitiful and starved the whole time.

She also loves to watch Animal Planet but will bark herself silly when she sees tigers. Not cats. Just tigers. What is she trying to tell me, Julia?

My daughter loves Sylvia Brown who’s on Montel William’s show once a week or so. I liked John Edwards. And who is that other guy who produced “Medium” last year. I just realized that show isn’t back. Is “Ghost Whisperer”? Personally, I think they ruined it with the change of direction to the Buffy side.
I liked the little girl on “Medium”.

  19. Kim on 29 Oct 2008 at 10:39 am #

I totally believe in psychics but I think most of the ones who claim they are, aren’t. I would totally get a reading. Its something I’ve always wanted to do. My mom had one done probably 20 years ago and she said some of the stuff came true. She’s never let me listen to the tapes but I’d love to.

Julia–That is so weird that she say the CBE! OMG.

If a psychic were to talk to my pets; Ginger would say “tell dad that’s my couch and to move. Why can’t I have my own hamburger?”, Precious would say “The cat potties in the house, why can’t I?”, the cat would say “The dogs go outside, why can’t I?”.

Kari and Nicole–there’s actually a term for what you’re talking about. Thinking of someone and you run into them or they call you. Its called synchronicity. I read a book when I was in high school that really went into detail. It was facinating. Basically it was how people influenced the universe and that if you were thinking of someone that they would feel that pull. Not necessarily consciously either. Its really cool and definitely made sense to me.

  20. Kim on 29 Oct 2008 at 10:46 am #

Is anyone watching The Mentalist? Simon Baker plays an ex TV psuedo psychic whose family was murdered. Now he is a special consultant for the California Bureau of Investigation. We love it.

  21. Nicole Jordan on 29 Oct 2008 at 10:50 am #

I love The Mentalist, Kim! The hero used to be a pshchic but doesn’t believe in it. Now he just uses his acute powers of perception to solve crimes.

And Margaret, Medium will be back on starting in January, I understand. I love the kids in that show, too, and I’m not wild about kids in general, at least the human kind. *g*

  22. Nicole Jordan on 29 Oct 2008 at 10:54 am #

Julia, my dear, I think your dog may be training you to pay attention to him! My older horse has me well trained.

And that is so cool about the psychic telling you to expect a baby/child. Wow.

    >>>She also loves to watch Animal Planet but will bark herself silly when she sees tigers. Not cats. Just tigers. What is she trying to tell me, Julia?

Very interesting, Margaret! I wonder, too!

  23. Nicole Jordan on 29 Oct 2008 at 10:58 am #

    >>>>Kari and Nicole–there’s actually a term for what you’re talking about. Thinking of someone and you run into them or they call you. Its called synchronicity.

I would love to know how that works, Kim! Because I really do have a lot of experiences with that.

In fact, it just happened to me yesterday. I called a friend whom I hadn’t spoken to since the summer, and he said he’d been thinking of me just ten minutes ago!

  24. Nicole Jordan on 29 Oct 2008 at 11:01 am #

    >>>My black Cocker Spaniel aka Bella the Wonder Dog would probably say “Are you going eat ALL that?”. Trying to look pitiful and starved the whole time.

It’s so funny to me how pets have so many universal qualities, and yet have their own personal characteristics, too.

  25. Claudia Dain on 29 Oct 2008 at 12:26 pm #

    Nope. Not a believer.

  26. Freedom Writer on 29 Oct 2008 at 12:32 pm #

Julia, perhaps Hugo just misses his companion that passed away this year and is looking for some companionship and attention.

  27. Julia London on 29 Oct 2008 at 12:41 pm #

Freedom, I think it is something like that. Poor old dog.

  28. Yasmin on 29 Oct 2008 at 12:49 pm #

i dont if i believe or not. i think thatit depends on who it is and if they are creditable.

  29. Kari on 29 Oct 2008 at 1:07 pm #

    That is INTERESTING, Kim!!
The weirdest thing that happened with that:
My girlfriend (Sandy/Sniky) and I had gotten into a huge fight, aka The Great Lawn Debacle, and hadn’t spoken in a few years. One day I was thinking of her and where she was in life and location so I sent her an email saying something like, Is this the Sandy H that was friends with Kari H? I wan’t sure if she still used the email address she had in the past. I did have the correct address and we talked on the phone that night or the next day. It turns out she had been talking to one of her co-workers about me and/or a memory that included me that morning. She said she was shocked to find a message from me that day after all the time that had passed. At the time she had lived in Illinois and me in Florida. We now both live in Florida but we are about 45 minutes (my driving, 1 hour her driving) away from each other. We’ve never been closer and barely go a week or two without seeing each other.
    I’ll take synchronicity any day!!

  30. Nicole Jordan on 29 Oct 2008 at 1:20 pm #

What a great story, Kari! I’m so glad you two got together again.

Freedom, I think you’re on to something about Julia’s Hugo. I do so wish sometimes that we could really speak to our animals in more than just body language and tone of voice, and that they could speak to us.

Julia, please give Hugo a big hug from us!!

I have a friend who talks to her cat and tells him what’s going on, because she believes he can understand. For example, if she has to go out of town, she tells the cat where she’s going and for how long, and that she’ll definitely be back. She’s sure he gets the message. At least it’s comforting for us people to think so!

  31. Nicole Jordan on 29 Oct 2008 at 1:22 pm #

Claudia, I can relate! My dh laughed at me for years after a pet psychic read my gelding long ago. But then he became more of a believer after the episode with his friend’s husky.

  32. Paula on 29 Oct 2008 at 2:09 pm #

I am sceptical about Psychics, but my FIL died almost 6 years ago adn he knew that I was expecting a second child. About a year after he died my SIL’s went to a psychic or medium for a reading and she said to them your dad says to say how proud he is of his 2 grandsons one whose name begins with an ‘S’ and then she came out with Stephen and the other one whose name begins with a ‘C’ and after a few mins comes out with Ciaron who is the child I was expecting when he died. I always think that is spooky!!

My friend who recently lost her DH had to go buy a car as the car she had was he works car. My DH was going to go with her and she went to the garage to book a test drive. She and her DH had discussed which car they would buy when his works car went back next year. Whilst she was at the garage she ended up buying a car and she said she felt as if ’someone’ was telling her that hte car she was looking at was THE car and that it was the right thing to do so she bought it. She said she knows that her DH was ‘telling ‘ her to buy it.

  33. Gannon on 29 Oct 2008 at 2:39 pm #

Wow, the story about the pet psychic diagnosing the husky…that’s worth the price right there.

Karen, I’ve been to Cassadega and had a very accurate reading. Over the years, I’ve been to a few different psychics–my sister and I go for entertainment–and some have been spot on. I think part of it is that they see possibilities. Maybe you’ll take the path that they “see” or maybe not. Still, it’s fun, if nothing else.

  34. Cail on 29 Oct 2008 at 3:06 pm #

i totally forgot to write about this earlier… there is a great tv show called Penn and Teller BullSh*t. They did a whole episode on psychics. definitely worth watching.

  35. dbrown3400 on 29 Oct 2008 at 3:12 pm #

My maternal grandmother and great aunt had great psychic powers and were great believers in the Ouija board. We predicted the name of my first husband and that I would move to NJ. I could tell when either one of them, as well as my mother, was calling on the phone. Although it hasn’t happened for many years, there were times I could “hear” my gm give me advice after she had passed. Mother and I would finish each other’s sentences but I think that’s something else? We could carry on entire conversations and know what the other was thinking. Guess we could have just kept our mouths shut! LOL

  36. Margaret on 29 Oct 2008 at 3:59 pm #

I hadn’t heard of “The Mentalist”. Would someone tell me what channel it’s on and the night? Please?

Off topic, but I wanted to say how much I enjoyed the group romance story yesterday. It was too early for my brain to kick in yesterday morning and I had to leave early. Too late and too tired for thinking when I got back home again.

On the bright side. One of the things I did was see the cancer doctor up at Hershey Medical Center. I’m happy to say that I am still cancer free 8 years after being diagnosed with stage 1 uterine. Hooray!

So, the romance story was just icing on the cake and made me laugh lots. Thanks, goddesses.

  37. Paula on 29 Oct 2008 at 4:08 pm #

Margaret that is good news I am so pleased for you. It is so nice to hear good news nowadays.

  38. Judy F on 29 Oct 2008 at 4:17 pm #

COngrats Margaret that is awesome new. The mentalist is on CBS on Tuesday nights.

I believe in psychics pretty much. I have had a few strange things happen to me. After my friend Sue passed away after a terrible battle with Cancer. I woke up and I swear saw her and she told me she was ok.

Another time I was going out with a friend and did not want to go into this bar. Just had a bad feeling, well a fight broke out between the tables around us and I almost got trampled. Freaky.

    I love the story yesterday.

I wonder what my cat is saying sometimes. Like the day I came home and didn’t feed him ASAP cause I spilled a pink drink on my living room rug. Cause my hold on till I get this up wasn’t getting into his brain.

  39. Margaret on 29 Oct 2008 at 4:40 pm #

Thank you for letting me know about “Medium”, Nicole. The kid I like the best is the youngest one who shares her mom’s psychic abilities.

I also think the dad is pretty sexy. LOL Ditto for the husband on “Ghost Whisperer”. I just heard a rumor that his character dies this season! Ack!

  40. Kathy/Cookiedough on 29 Oct 2008 at 5:25 pm #

I watched the Mentalist last night. I love that one. not too manyof the new shows out this season have grabbed me. but Simon Baker is an Aussie hottie! he brought me in but it’s quite a good show.
    I watch Medium too.

  41. Nicole Jordan on 29 Oct 2008 at 6:19 pm #

    Very cool stories, Paula!

Gannon and Karen, that sounds like fun. I ever get down that way with time on my hands, I’ll go check it out.

    >>> Guess we could have just kept our mouths shut!

LOL, Donna. I think your conversations definitely were worthwhile.

  42. Nicole Jordan on 29 Oct 2008 at 6:24 pm #

Margaret, that is WONDERFUL news! So great. I’m very happy for you. Boy, that sort of scare sure makes you appreciate what you have, doesn’t it?

And I loved the story yesterday, too! Laughed myself silly.

Judy, I’ve heard something similar from a lot of people, getting visits from loved ones who are gone. Also, I had to laugh at your cat not understanding that the spill was more crucial right then than his dinner!

  43. RachelG on 29 Oct 2008 at 6:27 pm #

I think my dogs would say, “Don’t be so stingy with the Iams. Fill the bowl to the top.”

I believe in ghost, but I’m not so sure about physic ability. As a kid, my friends and I used to scare the crap out of ourselves with the Oiuja board.

    Rachel

  44. Nicole Jordan on 29 Oct 2008 at 6:30 pm #

Margaret, I like the whole family in Medium. They’re so REAL, but sweet and emotional and loving at the same time.

And you should definitely check out the Mentalist. It’s a very smart/clever show, and the hero has some serious emotional baggage that make you want to hug him. He was a hotshot TV psychic but then he ticked off a serial killer who murdered the hero’s wife and daughter just to prove he could. So the hero quick the psychic buisness, turned into an non-believer, and joined the CA Bureau of Investigation so he could use his skills for good instead of as a charletan. But the mysteries and watching him figure out who done it is most of the fun.

  45. Nicole Jordan on 29 Oct 2008 at 6:32 pm #

Your dogs sound very normal and healthy, Rachel, lol. And I remember doing the ouiji board at slumber parties when I was a kid, but we never got any scary vibes or anything. Most of what we discovered didn’t make much sense!

Thank you for the synopsis on “The Mentalist”, Nicole. I’m going to set it on the DVR now. I can’t think of what I have already set other than “Dancing with the Stars” results show. Whatever it is has to go so I can watch the new show you all recommend.

Now, I’m off to see what happens with the long postponed game #5 of the World Series. I found out today that my oldest step-son was front and center for the game that didn’t start until after 10pm the other night. Game #3 I think. I know I stayed up till 2am watching it. Oddest baseball game I’ve ever seen.

    Go Phillies!

  48. Sabrina Jeffries on 29 Oct 2008 at 7:04 pm #

Right, Nicole, my hero just does that as his job. He’s a conjuror. I loved the Illusionist!

  49. Sabrina Jeffries on 29 Oct 2008 at 7:05 pm #

Oh, and I’ve watched the Mentalist a couple of times. It’s pretty good.

  50. Louisa Cornell on 29 Oct 2008 at 10:02 pm #

Margaret, I am so thrilled to hear your good news!! Whatever you are doing, keep doing it!

Julia, how wonderful is it that the psychic told you about the cutest baby ever!

My dogs would say “Are those three fat cats real? They never move!”

And the cats would say “Why can’t those dogs sit still for five minutes. It’s really annoying. Oh and Mom, there is a mouse in my dish, could you do something about that?”

The cats weigh in at 24 pounds, 19 pounds, and 17 pounds and the dogs would be write – they NEVER move!

If a pet psychic talked to our pets Spencer would say, “I don’t do my business outside because people could SEE me!! So I’ll just leave a Spencer -spot over there by the door.”
The cats would all say,”Do you really have to keep any of the other animals? Aren”t I enough for you??”
Spencer would also tell us that his name is really Tanner and yes he still loves the color red. He is only the second dog we have ever had that will dig out anything red he can find and carry it around for hours.

Sounds fascinating, Sabrina! Can’t wait to read it.

Those are big cats, Louisa. You and Evlqn made me laugh. I can so hear your cats saying such things.

And E, that is very interesting about your dog and the color red. I wonder why he singles out that color.

While I believe in pet psychics, the one who I have met was nothing to write home about. Everything was pretty obvious, and there was a good chance that those things had been mentioned to her by one of the boarders (who is a friend of hers). So she looks at my horse who has scars on his legs from a run in with a metal gate… I think I’ve told everyone and their mother in the barn about how this happened to him as a sort of PSA against fallen gates. Lady says to me “oh G says he got caught in something and he hurt his legs.” Uhhhh, yeah…congrats Sherlock.

She looks at another horse that I had been saying had back problems for months. If you touched the right pressure points, the muscles went into tremors and he never released through his Lumbosacral joint… classic physical signs. Psychic comes in and says horse’s back hurts (again… mind reading or noticing the signs?).

I guess it all just reminds me of that show, Psych.

I’m always skeptical when it comes to “magical” things like this. On the one hand, there is very little proof that these people actually have some sort of special ability. On the other hand, there’s always that one instance that makes you wonder whether it’s really real or not. For the most part, I don’t believe in this sort of stuff, but I must admit that there’s another, smaller part of me that insists on being a dreamer. Life’s not as fun without a good whif of the supernatural.
