NAME THAT RINGER!
Aug 2nd 2008
Karen HawkinsGoddess Eye Candy & Goddess Interviews & On Writing!
I loooove games! So for today, I thought we’d play a fast and fun game called NAME THAT RINGER! One of the following statements below is true so see if you can spot the ringer! Everyone who answers correctly will be entered into a contest for one of the signed prizes Goddess Kim is bringing back from RWA!
So . . . which ONE is TRUE?
1) I’m faintly allergic to peanuts and get hives when I eat them, but only on my legs. It’s not as attractive as a tan, but it’s better than Stark White.
2) When I was in San Francisco when I was nine, I saw a man jump from the roof of a building right in front of me. He didn’t bounce.
3) At my senior prom, I wore a hit pink mini-dress with MASSIVE puffy sleeves. And no, there are no surviving pictures. (Praise be!)
4) I can touch my nose with the tip of my tongue, though I don’t usually admit this on a first date.
There you go! Now name that ringer! Goddess Kim will draw a name from one of the correct answers and an autographed treasure will be delivered forthwith!!!

I’m going with #4, that you can touch your nose with the tip of your toungue.
Margaret Garland on 02 Aug 2008 at 5:39 am #
#3. San Francisco is pretty hilly. I figure you were standing somewhere near the top of a hill and the guy jumped from the roof of a house just below you. The roof would be at eye level and the guy wouldn’t have jumped very far.
AnnaSwede on 02 Aug 2008 at 6:01 am #
#4
cail on 02 Aug 2008 at 6:34 am #
i’ll go with #1 for some variety
LisaK on 02 Aug 2008 at 6:46 am #
I’m with Cail on #1, because it’s the one that made me laugh most.
Judy F on 02 Aug 2008 at 6:52 am #
I am going with #3
Kathy/Cookie on 02 Aug 2008 at 7:29 am #
I’m gonna go with #1
Karen Hawkins on 02 Aug 2008 at 8:21 am #
There are some good guesses here!
dbrown3400 on 02 Aug 2008 at 8:36 am #
Put me in with the #1 group.
Kathy/Cookie on 02 Aug 2008 at 9:08 am #
so…when to we get to find out the correct answer?
Freedom Writer on 02 Aug 2008 at 9:27 am #
I believe it is #3.
I can’t believe that if KHawk could touch her tongue to her nose she wouldn’t tell her date.
Kammie on 02 Aug 2008 at 10:07 am #
I’m going to guess #3
FreshEChelle on 02 Aug 2008 at 10:32 am #
It’s so got to be #3. The choice and era seems in line with what I guess your age to be. The conviction to remove all evidence of the dress seems to be warranted!
Karen Hawkins on 02 Aug 2008 at 10:39 am #
I will tell you all the answer this evening!
PROMISE!!!
Paula on 02 Aug 2008 at 10:53 am #
I think that it is #3. In the previous discussions about food karen has never said anything about peanuts. I agree with Freedom on #1 and I’m not convinced about #2.
SheridanLA on 02 Aug 2008 at 10:57 am #
I am going with #3, but I contest that there are no surviving pictures - she just does not want to have to share.
and I am with Freedom, there is no way KHawk would not share that tidbit with a date.
Margaret Garland on 02 Aug 2008 at 11:08 am #
Well, heck, KarenH. I just re-read what I wrote at an earthly hour. I said #3 but, obviously I meant #2. After all, I was referring to the hills of SF in my answer.
I can’t wait to see which one is correct.
Margaret Garland on 02 Aug 2008 at 11:10 am #
I just read over everybody’s answers. Am I the only one with a vote in for # 2? I guess I must be wrong then. Like that’s never happened before. LOL
SheridanLA on 02 Aug 2008 at 11:13 am #
orrrr… Margaret… you might be the only one who is correct… easy winning a drawing that way
AnimeJune on 02 Aug 2008 at 11:17 am #
I’m going to go with #1. I hate allergies.
ladydawgfan on 02 Aug 2008 at 11:28 am #
Um, I know I’m showing my ignorance here, but by “ringer,” do you mean true or false??
ladydawgfan on 02 Aug 2008 at 11:37 am #
Ooops!! Just answered my own (stupid) question by re-reading the first paragraph of this blog entry!!! Duh!!!
And my guess is #3. I can actually see K-Hawk seeking and destroying any and all offending existing photos of that dress!! I did the same myself, and no, I will not even describe the dress!!
Margaret Garland on 02 Aug 2008 at 11:46 am #
I’m shocked that you all would destroy pricelss photographs showing the big poufy dresses and big hair of your era. I can see them now.
Of course, there was a time I wore a beehive proudly. I can assure there are NO photographs of that hairdo. I had to sleep with toilet paper wrapped around it at night to keep it in place. That and lots of hair spray. When my scalp itched, I’d use a rat-tail comb to scratch. Naturally, I left it in place from one week to another. Oh my. What a memory!
cheryl c. on 02 Aug 2008 at 11:48 am #
Gee, this is hard because they all sound like they could be true! Oh, well, I will guess #1.
Suzanne Enoch on 02 Aug 2008 at 11:49 am #
I pick #5 — KarenH snores, albeit in a very delicate and feminine manner. *g*
Malady on 02 Aug 2008 at 11:51 am #

its 3 now…
Margaret Garland on 02 Aug 2008 at 11:51 am #
I guess you’d be in a position to know, wouldn’t you, Suzane?
Are you all learning lots of good stuff that we will see in future novels?
Karen on 02 Aug 2008 at 12:42 pm #
My educated guess will be #4 which, by the way, I would like to see.

Karen Hawkins on 02 Aug 2008 at 12:58 pm #
I might snore - in a discreet and lady-like manner - but I do NOT eat crackers in bed at six in the morning.
These are some pretty good guesses, I must say!
Malady on 02 Aug 2008 at 1:01 pm #
lol

Judy F on 02 Aug 2008 at 1:21 pm #

Karen Hawkins on 02 Aug 2008 at 4:24 pm #
Some of you guys are gooooood. REALLY gooooood! The question is — which of you??? TEEEEEHEEEEEEE!!!
Btw, any of you read TWILIGHT? I have to see what all of the fuss is about!
Kathy/Cookie on 02 Aug 2008 at 4:33 pm #
I’m waiting for my friend to loan me her books. my 16 yr old niece went to a midnight party at the book store last night. it was a masquerade- she was so excited to dress up.
Kate on 02 Aug 2008 at 4:45 pm #
I am guessing #3. Can’t wait to find out.
Kari on 02 Aug 2008 at 5:29 pm #
#3 for me!!
Yaya on 02 Aug 2008 at 6:05 pm #
I think I will go for #1. I have never heard of an isolated allergic reaction but who knows. I kinda cheated and went on your website to see if I could get a clue but such luck.
Paula on 02 Aug 2008 at 6:21 pm #
YaYa we must think alike, I went back to gifts from the Goddessess when there was the competition where we had to guess which picture was which goddess and also there were some written clues but no such luck!
Karen please tell us which is the correct, I’m off to hit the sack now and won’t find out the answer till morning.
evlqn on 02 Aug 2008 at 6:46 pm #
Hi Karen of the delicate snores, I have to go with #3.
Yaya on 02 Aug 2008 at 6:49 pm #
Good night Paula!!
Yaya on 02 Aug 2008 at 6:52 pm #
Karen how’s it going at RWA. I hope your your taking lots of pics. I am only 2hrs away and I have to work **grumble**
PJane1031 on 02 Aug 2008 at 7:12 pm #
Hmmm, I think I’ll go with #2
SheridanLA on 02 Aug 2008 at 7:25 pm #
I just finished Twilight.. thought it was pretty good and picked up New Moon… but it did not suck me in like some of the other paranormals out there.. I think it was well done for its market (young readers)
Charlotte on 02 Aug 2008 at 7:35 pm #
I’m going with #2 because I remember reading somewhere that someone witnessed a man jumping from a building. Of course, I can’t remember where I read it or who the witness was, but what the heck. If I’m wrong I’m wrong. lol
kh on 02 Aug 2008 at 9:22 pm #
i say #3
Karen Hawkins on 03 Aug 2008 at 12:37 am #
And the answer is . . .
#2!
When I was in San Francisco as a child of nine, my mother and brother and sister and I were walking up a hill and a man jumped from the top of the building and landed on the sidewalk in front of us. As I mentioned before, he didn’t bounce.
I later found out it was a drug rehab clinic and the guy escaped his counselor and ran to the roof before they could stop him. I have to say, it kept us all from ever wanting to try drugs. We already knew the outcome.
On the stranger-than-fiction side of the story, that happened on my birthday — which is tomorrow, August 3rd, and here I am, in San Francisco once more!
Of course, I WISH #4 was the right answer. I’ve always wanted to be able to touch my nose with my tongue, but my tongue isn’t that limber. Heck, I can’t even do the whole tie-the-cherry-stem thing.
freshechelle on 03 Aug 2008 at 12:52 am #
Happy Birthday, KHawk! Hope you’re having a swell, snore-free time in the City by the Bay. Watch out for falling bodies.
Kimmy L on 03 Aug 2008 at 2:10 am #
1) I’m faintly allergic to peanuts and get hives when I eat them, but only on my legs. It’s not as attractive as a tan, but it’s better than Stark White.
Margaret Garland on 03 Aug 2008 at 6:40 am #
Ulp. I got it right with had the wrong conclusion. I thought he just stepped off the roof to the sidewalk. Not that he went splat! You can tell I’ve been to SF and seen how steep those hills are.
