Suzanne Enoch has a new book coming out entitled BEFORE THE SCANDAL.
I haven’t read it. I want to. I’m dying to. But no one (ahem!) has given me even a GLIMPSE of an advanced reading copy so I’m in the dark.
I don’t like the dark.
But then I found this little tidbit from SE’s website: The hero in BEFORE THE SCANDAL is Lt. Colonel Phineas Bromley, rakehell, warrior, and notorious gentleman.
I like that last part - ‘notorious gentleman.’ Verrry interesting. Makes me wanna know more.
So I wrote to SE and said:
Hey! What can you tell me about this Colonel Phineas Bromley? It’s late July and I’m ready to fall in love.
And this is what she wrote back:
You impatient woman! It’s coming out in TWO days on JULY 29th — can’t you wait that long?
To which I replied:
No.
So she sent me this:
Fine. Here’s an excerpt from the book. Now stop whining.
Phineas Bromley. Phin. The last person Alyse ever would have imagined joining the army. Clearly neither of their lives had turned out as they’d intended. She didn’t know what the insignia on his shoulder meant, but he was clearly an officer.
A moment later he walked into the room, his gaze touching on the rest of the occupants, and then finding her. Alyse blushed again at those clear hazel eyes, wondering what she looked like to him. Other than his eyes, she wasn’t certain she would have recognized him. His dark brown hair was a little long, as though he’d been too busy to seek a barber, and his face leaner than she remembered. And a narrow scar dissected his right eyebrow and touched his cheek, giving his appearance the rakish bent that he’d always seemed to have inside. He’d been pretty as a boy, and he’d become a strikingly handsome man.
And THEN, she sent me these:
Wow. Just . . . wow. I’m now officially ready to read BEFORE THE SCANDAL the very SECOND it hits the bookstores this coming Tuesday, July 29th.
How about you? Are you ready for the devastatingly sexy Colonel Phin Bromley to sweep you off your feet? Do you have an evening marked off to savor this jewel? I plan on buying and reading my copy at the airport on my way to San Fran! Ooooooh, I CAN’T WAIT!

That, Sheridan, is Jason Isaacs, who played the Slimy Limey in “The Patriot,” with Mel Gibson and the late, great Heath Ledger.

he’s also the evil Lucius Malfoy, and was the yummy James Bond-like Clark Devlin in the Tuxedo, one of my favs!
I,sadly have no extra money to buy a copy, however much I would like one- hint hint!!!! I’m coming into the poorest part of being unemployed-still having to pay rent, so no extras at all. sigh
PLUS, I’ll be in an operating room that day, watching the surgeon slice my wrist open to fix my carpal tunnel. I doubt they’ll let me watch. It’s only local anaesthetic, so I’ll be bored,awake, and will want to watch. I’m weirdly fascinated that way.

Great excerpt, ladies. I can’t get the book Tuesday, but it and some other goddess books are definitely on my shopping list for next weekend when I have a small bit of disposable income. And isn’t that an oxymoron? My income is usally disposed of before I can get my mitts on it.
Kathy, I didn’t know your surgery was so close. I can’t imagine watching any part of my body being sliced open, probed and having bits removed. Eww You are a brave woman than I, Gunga Din.
I think I need to go to Photobucket and find some bigger pictures of Jason Isaacs. He looks to be worthy of my new shrine.

thanks guys,
I was told by the receptionist/nurse at the surgeon’s office that I’ll have mobilty back really quickly. I’m just not looking forward to have a cast for 2wks.
I have lots of books stacked, and movies at the ready.
And my pc mousing hand will still be free, so I can look around, but typing will be an issue.

I will be winging my way toward San Francisco on Tuesday. You can rest assured if BEFORE THE SCANDAL is in any of the airport gift shops it WILL be snatched off the shelf like the treasure it is sure to be!! And if not, dare I hope you will be signing copies at the Literacy Signing, dear Suzanne????
I agree, strictly in the name of being an informed shopper we NEED a bigger picture of Jason, preferably in some form of undress? Anyone? Karen? Suzanne? Bueller? Bueller?

Well, Louisa, I couldn’t find Jason in much of a state of undress. Most of the pictures I found at Photobucket were as small as the one here. But I did find a nifty one of him smiling and his shirt is unbuttoned a bit. Also,he’s sporting the currently popular scruffy look. His blue, blue eyes rival Paul Neuman’s. I must say he’s a sight better looking in this pictuer than in his role as Lucius Malfoy
I happened to remember Russell Crowe and tossed him in today. I may have to create another page. This one’s going to scroll on into infinity.

I’ve been waiting for Phin since he was in ATK and Jason Isaacs certainly does him justice. The UPS man and I have a “thing” going (*g*) and I’ll be attacking him this Tuesday for my copy of BTS.

Oh yummy! I will not buy any new books before conference, dang it. I ALWAYS get burned and it winds up in my goody bag! ARGH! I may need a blindfold and a shock collar to keep me out of the stores on Tuesday. I want this book.

I can’t wait for Tuesday - I had my 50th birthday on 7/23 and my husband gave me a gift card to WalMart —-who needs new clothes when you can buy books!!!!

Karen, this book is wonderful….it’s like a Cinderella story with the bad Aunt and cousin. It’s just freaky that when I was reading this book that I had imaged Jason Issac as Phin from the Patriot. Another character I feel for is brother William-Lord Quence. I think is very hot.

I LOVE Jason Isaacs. Love him! Is the other guy also Jason? The pic is too small for me to tell.
I loved him in Sweet November–he played a gay guy. He was so wonderful in that. But my favorite was him in The Patriot, even if he WAS the bad guy.

I have no idea what movie it’s from, Lisa. I discovered a wonderful thing on Photobucket. You can search for someone and you get lots of pictures to choose from. My problem with Jason was finding one large enough. Many of them are tiny.
Also, I found out that you can edit your pictures right there on Photobucket and decorate them to beat the band. I’ve had more fun today than a grown woman should be allowed.

That delicious pic of Johnny Depp is from the movie FROM HELL. It is a Jack the Ripper story in which he plays a detective with Scotland Yard. FANTASTIC MOVIE!! And he is WONDERFUL in it! Robbie Coltrane is in it as well.
