FROS checks in with a Goddess Favorite!

It’s been awhile since For Refreshment Only Sunday (FROS) checked in with my guy, gorgeous HUGH JACKMAN! (Back off, Claudia. He’s mine!)

So I thought today we’d take a peek! As you can see, Hugh has been hittin’ the gym in preparation for the movie WOLVERINE, and boy, does he make me wanna howl!

Check him out!

I don’t know about you guys, but even though WOLVERINE isn’t coming out until May 09, I’m ready to see this movie RIGHT NOW!

(pout!)

Guess we’ll have to wait. Meanwhile, happy FROS, m’dears!

Sooo Yummy Karen!! I wish I could jump right there into the beach and fake not being able to swim. He can save me anytime. If I get lucky, maybe he can give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation ;)

  2. Kathy/Cookie on 20 Jul 2008 at 5:45 am #

I’m gonna poo on your Hugh parade.
There is something about him I can’t put my finger on.
I’m one of the few, I’m sure, but I don’t see what you see.
I’ll shut up now, and leave you all to him!

  3. Gannon on 20 Jul 2008 at 6:50 am #

Ahhh, Hugh! He is delectable, isn’t he?! I’ll fight you for him, Karen! ;)

  4. Lisa H on 20 Jul 2008 at 7:10 am #

I’m waiting for the fight to break out between Claudia and Karen H. He is sexy, although I would never dare to interfere!

  5. FreshEChelle on 20 Jul 2008 at 7:42 am #

Ah, HJ and what looks like a cool ocean. Just what a girl needs to cope with a heat wave… Can I cut a deal with you KH, I have him when he’s clean shaven, he’s yours when he’s got the beard going?

Kathy/ maybe there’s a support group we can get you in so you can get the rush from looking at Hugh too?

  6. Louisa Cornell on 20 Jul 2008 at 8:15 am #

I don’t have to fake the not being able to swim, Yaya! I would jump in the ocean and risk drowning to be rescued by all those muscles!! 2009????WAAAAAAA!!! That man is like a fine wine … He ages SUPERBLY!!

Hmmm. A smackdown between Karen H and Claudia. Can we schedule that for the hotel foyer in San Francisco at the RWA Conference? I’ll take photos ladies!

  7. Meg on 20 Jul 2008 at 8:31 am #

Now that is a good FROS!! How yummy. :-) Even with all that facial hair.

  8. Karen Rose on 20 Jul 2008 at 9:08 am #

We have to wait till May 09! So not fair!!!!!!!!! I love Hugh as Wolverine, and just about anything else. He has aged imPECably (get it?).

I have a new video cam. I think the scheduling of a smackdown between Karen H and Claudia is a fab idea. Claudia’s little, but she’s scrappy.

We could sell tickets, book bets, and make enough to buy lots of champagne for our after-RITA celebration! Orrrr, we could have the smackdown after RITA itself. Evening gowns, howls, hair pulling, screams of “Mine, mine, mine.”

It’s must-see. After all, we have to have something to amuse ourselves as Hugh won’t hit the big screen til May, 09.

  9. Karen Rose on 20 Jul 2008 at 9:10 am #

Okay, that was a really bad pun. Sorry. (Snicker, not really.)

At least I’m not grumpy anymore. My burning need for chocolate seems to have faded somewhat. And I didn’t cheat! woot!

  10. Karen Hawkins on 20 Jul 2008 at 9:12 am #

Yasmin, I like how you think! I’d fake a drowning, twisted ankle, broken toe — anything if I thought he’d come, pick me up, and carry me around for awhile!

Kathy, Kathy, Kathy. What are we gonna do with you? But then, I guess if you’re not an HJ fan, there’s just more for me! YUMMM!!!

Gannon, you’re on! (rolls up sleeves) First one to get the other in a lock-neck-hold, wins! LET’S RUMBLE!

LisaH, prudence is a good thing. Claudia wears stilettos and someone could lose an eye.

Fresh, but . . . I like him clean shaven, too! And scruffy. And bearded. And everything in between.

Louisa, I agree — the man ages like fine wine indeed. He just gets sexier and sexier!

Meg, I think the facial hair is because of the movie. Seems I remember he looked the same when he was filming one of the XMen movies — beard before and then those wild sideburns during.

Man, he is SO SEXY! I’d diggin’ him BIG TIME!

  11. Karen Rose on 20 Jul 2008 at 9:22 am #

Karen, didn’t Hugh J do a romance movie (for Australian producers) back years ago? He was a romance author and used his girlfriend as a front? They excerpted it one year at the RITA gala, and I’ve always wanted to see it.

Do you know the title of the flick?

  12. Judy F on 20 Jul 2008 at 9:39 am #

I just adore Hugh. I can take you on Karen H. LOL

Karen R the movie is Paperback Hero (I think that is the title)

  13. SuzyQ on 20 Jul 2008 at 9:57 am #

This just in . . . While the “Big Brawl” was taking place with Gannon, KarenH, Claudia, and Judy, SuzyQ quietly slipped away with Hugh. It was just as KarenH was about to drop kick Claudia the she said “Hey! Where’s Hugh?”. Suzy and Hugh were last seen driving away in his limo.

  14. Karen Rose on 20 Jul 2008 at 9:59 am #

Ouch. Poor Claudia. SuzyQ, you’re sneaky. I like that.

  15. Karen Rose on 20 Jul 2008 at 10:02 am #

Thanks, Judy. I looked up Paperback Hero on Amazon, but the DVD is only available in Aussie region format, so we can’t watch it on our USA DVDs.

Can computer DVD players handle all regional DVD formats? Inquiring minds must know.

  16. Beth C. on 20 Jul 2008 at 10:07 am #

I’ve been wondering where Hugh got to. But while he’s playing at the beach, I’m spending my time with Brendan Fraser and Christian Bale.

I bet $15 on Claudia to make a comeback. (Better win Claudia, that’s my money for your next release…..) :)

  17. dbrown3400 on 20 Jul 2008 at 10:27 am #

I caught Van Helsing on TV last night so I’ve had a recent HJ fix. I didn’t think of you once, Karen. Claudia, either. Or anyone else. Sorry.

  18. dbrown3400 on 20 Jul 2008 at 10:28 am #

That doesn’t mean I’m staking any claims, but just sayin’.

  19. SheridanLA on 20 Jul 2008 at 10:42 am #

what a lovely way to start a Sunday :)

and you all might be forgetting his new Bas Luhrman production with Nicole Kidman… Australia. Set before WWII…. supposed to be out this year, I thought.

  20. freshechelle on 20 Jul 2008 at 11:24 am #

Karen R, your celebrity author death match scenario is so enticing, if the combatants agree to it, I’ve got a trip to plan. Who knew you had Don King tendencies?

  21. freshechelle on 20 Jul 2008 at 11:29 am #

KHawk, go look at your kindergarten report cards. Did it address issues you might have with sharing? You have legions of fans, a number which could swell (no KR-inspired pun intended) if we knew you’d allow us at least to Cop a Feel (in May only because it’s the aforementioned Cop a Feel month). Hmm, you did write the flick opens in May. Want to arrange a group outing to the premier so we can all cop a feel?

  22. Cameron on 20 Jul 2008 at 11:34 am #

Jackman also did the romantic comedy (with a time-traveling twist) called “Kate and Leopold” with Meg Ryan in 2001.

  23. SheridanLA on 20 Jul 2008 at 12:15 pm #

Kate and Leopold… *sigh* yeah… got it, own it, watch it way more then I should - just for HJ.

  24. Judy F on 20 Jul 2008 at 12:21 pm #

    http://www.alibris.com/moviesearch?title=paperback+hero&actor=hugh+jackman&mtype=V

I found this today just searching for the movie.

I have Kate and Leopold. I should watch it.

  25. dbrown3400 on 20 Jul 2008 at 12:34 pm #

My DVD player plays all formats so I’ll need to order that one.

  26. Suzanne Enoch on 20 Jul 2008 at 12:43 pm #

Yummy yummy yummy. Yes, SheridanLA, at least we get to see him this year in “Australia”. Yay!!

  27. Karen Hawkins on 20 Jul 2008 at 1:39 pm #

Suzy Q, it’s illegal to drug a man and drag him away from the sight of fight where his beloved is fighting to restore his reputation. Just thought I should mention that so you’re not shocked when the SWAT team swarms as you’re dragging poor Hugh from the building on a luggage rack. That’s just so wrong.

Karen Rose, yup, you HAVE to see PAPERBACK HERO. He was SO sexy in that. Like Cameron suggested, KATE & LEOPOLD is great though I didn’t like Meg Ryan’s character. Not that it matters. He should have been with ME, ME, ME anyway!

Fresh, was it Cop A Feel Month or Feel A Cop Month? I forget what we all decided

dbrown, I love that movie soooo much! He’s a great action hero, isn’t he? And that’s ok that you didn’t think of me - it’s easy to get Over Focused where Hugh is involved.

Sheridan, I am dying to see AUSTRALIA! Vogue had the costumes, which look Edwardian and are fabulous and Hugh looks SOOO tasty as a cowboy with a golden heart. And other golden parts, too, we’ll presume. Heh!

  28. Karen Hawkins on 20 Jul 2008 at 1:47 pm #

    Btw, check this out:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oFV100VpPg

    Oh yeah.

  29. Karen Rose on 20 Jul 2008 at 2:16 pm #

Karen H, how did you see Paperback Hero? Did it work in your DVD player? I have it marked on Amazon and am poised to hit the BUY button, but I want to be sure I’ll be able to view it and not be in possession of an unwatchable format DVD that will only mock me. HA HA. CAN’T WATCH ME. I’M AUSTRALIAN.

  30. FreshEChelle on 20 Jul 2008 at 2:17 pm #

KH, June is Feel a Cop Month. May is Cop a Feel Month. Enjoy them both!

  31. Karen Hawkins on 20 Jul 2008 at 2:35 pm #

I saw it on a plane trip so I don’t have the DVD. Wish I did! But I know it must be on American-style DVDs, too, because I know people who do have the movie and they all live here.

Anyone know the ins and outs of this? Sheridan? Judy?

Fresh, I’m so glad you wrote those down on your calendar. I’d hate to miss either!

  32. Meg on 20 Jul 2008 at 2:41 pm #

OMG, KarenH!!! Are you sure that you didn’t make that video?? :-D So many great pics in there!

  33. Meg on 20 Jul 2008 at 2:42 pm #

You know, we can always count on Hugh (thanks Karen) for a satisfying FROS. **sigh**

  34. Alyssa on 20 Jul 2008 at 3:18 pm #

*Sigh*. LOVE him! All that, plus he sings, he dances, he adores his wife, he’s a doting dad, and seems like a nice fella!

  35. Karen Hawkins on 20 Jul 2008 at 3:26 pm #

Karen R, don’t buy the Region2 videos. They won’t work on our DVD players. You know, my friends who had it may have had it on VHS ’cause it came out a while ago.

Meg, Hugh is always satisfying. He’s just the It Man. And no, I didn’t make that video, but I wish I had! YUM!!!

Alyssa, EXACTLY! He is talented and really seems to have a head on his shoulders. When he interviews, he always says the nicest things about his wife and kids, too. I think that is SO sexy!

  36. Kathy/Cookie on 20 Jul 2008 at 3:50 pm #

I’ve seen Kate and Leopold, Someone Like You, Scoop, the Prestige, the first two X-Men. Swordfish. I just don’t go ga ga.
    what IS wrong with me?
Colin Firth is on tv right now…What a Girl Wants…off to sigh

  37. SheridanLA on 20 Jul 2008 at 5:11 pm #

    and. Alyssa, don’t forget the accent…. ;)

  38. SheridanLA on 20 Jul 2008 at 5:16 pm #

wow.. you can get DVDs of HJ in Oklahoma, Profile of a Serial Killer, Stories of Lost Souls.. but looks like Paperback hero is not released on DVD for north America.. weasels!

was on VHS.. might be able to score a copy that way… if you still have a VHS machine.

  39. Kathy/Cookie on 20 Jul 2008 at 5:21 pm #

I even trolled the torrent sites for Paperback Hero. no luck at all.

  40. Karen Hawkins on 20 Jul 2008 at 6:17 pm #

Ah, VHS. Of course. We need to start a petition. Forget gas prices, WE NEED PAPERBACK HERO!

  41. SuzyQ on 20 Jul 2008 at 6:45 pm #

Here’s a site that’s selling the DVD in a region free format:

    http://www.ioffer.com/i/24257862

  42. Karen Hawkins on 20 Jul 2008 at 7:48 pm #

Suzy, that’s so cool! I also found a place where you can download a program to ‘reprogram’ a dvd so that it will default to another Region.

Karen Rose, if you go to wikipedia, there’s an entry for ‘Region Free” and it describes how it all works. I’ve learned a lot today!

  43. freshechelle on 20 Jul 2008 at 7:57 pm #

Dear God, please allow me to atone for whatever it is I’ve gone to deserve these constant multiple hour flight delays. If I can bargain with you God, I promise to never again distract my friends at TGB with topics that deviate from their chosen topic (like I’m doing now!). I especially make this promise to sabrina jeffried who I think I do this to with alarming frequency. I promise to rid myself of lustful thought about hugh jackman or colin firth because they’re spoken for (and ‘coz I fear the wrath of Khawk on the hj lust). And maybe it’s ok if I continue to have impure thoughts about richard armitage? I ask this in the name of on time departures and snarky flight attendants who talk us like we’re ignorant children. Amen.

  44. Karen Hawkins on 20 Jul 2008 at 8:24 pm #

Ah, Fresh . . . sitting in the bar at the airport, are you? We’re pulling for you and have fingers crossed you get to lose soon — well . . . after you finish your drink, anyway. HUGS on being stuck. There’s not a lot more aggravating in travel than being stuck at the airport. Hope you have a good book!!! :)

  45. freshechelle on 20 Jul 2008 at 10:17 pm #

Thanks K. Sadly I wrote that and this from the plane. Thankfully we’ve arrived in chicago just three hours late. My colleagues flying from another NY airport are still waiting to depart. No airport bar fun for me! alas.

  46. Karen Hawkins on 21 Jul 2008 at 2:47 am #

I’m glad you made it, Fresh. What a pain. You know, every time I’ve flown to Chi-town I’ve gotten stuck somewhere along the way. Sometimes it’s weather. Sometimes ‘mechanical difficulties.’ And sometimes it’s just nothing-they’ll-tell-you-about lateness.

Glad you made it, m’dear. Hope your friends get there, too!
