Why I love TGB and other stuff . . .

Today, the last day of our anniversary week, we wanted to tell you guys how much you have meant to us. When these eight noisy, sassy, love-to-laugh writers came together, we found more than we ever thought we would — friendship, laughter, and an incredible community of romance-loving women.

After today, we’ll stop being all mushy and get back to the business of just hanging with ya’ll. But for today, we wanted to tell you . . . .

wc.jpgRachel Gibson: I love TGB because I get hang out with smart, interesting goddesses.

Sabrina Jeffries: I love TGB because I can be myself with them.

Julia London: I love TGB because they have given me a life outside my office day after day.

lightsaber.jpgSuzanne Enoch: I love TGB because I found a place to share my avid love for Hugh Jackman. (Stand back, KarenH! I have my light saber and I’m willing to use it!)

Karen Hawkins: I love TGB because it starts my day with a smile. No one could ask for better water cooler pals or–’ Hey! Did you just see Suzanne Enoch run by here with a light saber?

books.jpgClaudia Dain: I love TGB because I’ve found other organizationally gifted goddesses who don’t scoff at my post-it notes.

Karen Rose: I love TGB because I’ve met so many new friends who love books as much as I do.

Nicole Jordan: I love TGB because I’ve found some of the most wonderful heartwarming readers among my fellow goddesses.

We know that what really makes TGB work is you — our reader goddesses who drop by, share their stories and lives, and give us all such a wonderful place to visit when we don’t want to work, clean the house, or do things that Need To Be Done.

How about you guys? For fun, give us a glimpse into your workplace — at home or in an office — and share some other things you do at work that allow you to rest, relax, and avoid that annoying Need To Be Done list!

i work in a 4 by 6 cubicle, and use TGB to escape periodically from the massive amount of excel spreadsheets I stare at every day. You guys are a breath of fresh air!

Arguably, my cube is decorated with pictures and other fun nicknacks… but sadly FROS would be extremely frowned upon around here.

  2. Ellen on 15 Feb 2008 at 8:38 am #

I Love TGB because it allows me to leave my work and share a laugh. I truly feel a friendship with all of you and I am constantly humbled by your blind acceptance of my “unique” views of the world.

YOU are my escape from the “things to do” list.

Question: Should I shave my legs for the Moroccan prison?

  3. Freedom Writer on 15 Feb 2008 at 8:39 am #

TGB has been a big part of my avoidance techniques as of late. It provides me contact with other wonderful people with similar interests. (Pets, chocolate, half naked men…) However, for the past couple of weeks I have had other ways to rest and relax while working. My granddaughter and daughter were here with us for almost 2 weeks. My 2 year old granddaughter is a delightful distraction from my Need To Be Done list.

Besides their visit, I just bought myself some new office furniture and have been reorganizing my office, that has provided me with quite a bit of rest, relaxation, and reason to avoid doing my writing.

And lastly I like to do crossword and sudoku puzzles when I need to think over a plot point or difficult scene or just plain chill out.

I am a stay at home mom. I have three kids, two teens and a toddler. Life around here is fast and furious. When the older kids are in school, and the baby is napping, I escape into my tiny office and work on Regency Romances. Of late instead of using my two peaceful hours to write and revise, I have been playing on TGB! I am having so much fun, that now my writing has begun to suffer…so alas, I will have to buckle down.

My tiny office is decorated in shades of beige and mauve, with lots of “storybook” theme pictures and lots of Captain Jack memorabilia. I have a very small desk, a comfy chair, and you lovely ladies to keep me going.

In addition to TGB, you might catch me playing free cell or spider solitare. Thats why its been a month and I’m still on chapter 8 in my 2nd novel!

  5. Lisa H on 15 Feb 2008 at 8:43 am #

Ellen - I wouldn’t worry about body hair. With you, I’m more concerned about “Girls gone wild” antics, so my advice is this, Wear a bra. :)

  6. SuzyQ on 15 Feb 2008 at 9:08 am #

My number 1 escape from work is TGB. It’s so much fun to hang out with a great bunch of ladies! My other internet escape is Flickr. For those of you who don’t know what this is, it is a photo sharing site.

Then there are my co-workers. I work in a computer room with a bunch of great people. There are no windows in here, so we are kind of locked away from the rest of the office. We’ve been known to dance a little, juggle some, and even have a game of catch with little mini footballs. Sometimes I think we all need a little stress relief!

  7. Karen Hawkins on 15 Feb 2008 at 9:15 am #

cail, I’m glad you found us and we have you! Spreadsheets, hm? I’ve seen one of those, but they make me queasy. I think I’m allergic to numbers.

Ellen, I’m with Lisa H– it’s not the leg hair that will haunt you, it’s the video that’ll show up on youtube.

Freedom, kids are the perfect distraction. As for the office - I’m so JEALOUS! I have an office space that I’m sloooow getting ready to make into a Real Office, but I’m far, far away from the buying furniture stage. One day soon, though . . . I hope! I do sudoku, too. I’m pretty good at it, too, if I say so myself!

Lisa H, now THAT’S a job! Your office sounds perfect, especially the CJ memorabilia. I need to add some of that to my office when it’s inhabitable. I have to watch out for Bookworm, a game that sly Suzie Enoch got me addicted to when I roomed with her one year at Nationals. If I even open it up, I lose an hour of my time, every time. Sheesh! I have no will power!

  8. SnikyWhite on 15 Feb 2008 at 9:21 am #

TGB have become one of the only escapes from my work lately. I used to crouch on Myspace or read CNN to get away, but who needs either when I can come here!! Here I’ve found a group of women, supremely talented women, who I can be myself with, and all that might entail. My office is a large room, shared with 4 other people. My parents are my bosses, my roommate is my assistant. My sister in law does my collections. I live with these people, go to church with these people, socialize with these people, at times I want to get in my car and run over these people, but thanks to TGB (and the fact that my car is broken down) they will all live to see another day ;)

I love TGB and to the Goddesses themselves, thank you, for your writing and this place!

  9. SnikyWhite on 15 Feb 2008 at 9:23 am #

Ellen - don’t shave. we might need to Rapunzel our way out of there.

  10. doglady (aka Pamela Bolton-Holifield on 15 Feb 2008 at 9:34 am #

TGB is my morning cup of coffee (which I don’t drink) I always hop on and check the posts every morning before I go to work and it keeps a smile on my face all day. There are days when something someone said on TGB has prevented me from maiming customers and coworkers alike!

I work in a bakery - lots of icing, lots of bread dough, a crew of high strung women and a store manager who INSISTS we participate in his nervous breakdown on a daily basis. We DO try to have fun and get to taste the new stuff when it comes in. It is an exercise in temp control because I am either in the walk in freezer or in the walk in oven trying to fix it. The thing that truly relaxes me at work is reading a Goddess novel at breaks and lunch. Take me away, Goddesses!

My REAL office is my writing studio at home which is still a work in progress. Framed autographed coverflats on the walls. A suit of armor in the corner. A shadow box of my Avon winning chapter my BFF made me for Christmas. Lots of inspiration!

  11. KariE on 15 Feb 2008 at 9:36 am #

Since I work from home, I work alone. My office is a spare/guest room that I have managed to fill with a big desk, a printer/faxer thing that is almost as big as my desk, and a few file cabinets. I love it though. Soon I will be painting it but I have no idea what color. I also get to decorate the walls with my sons artwork instead of them just on my desk (compaired to when I worked in an office building).
I can’t tell you how much I look forward to TGB every morning. It’s not about being funny, it’s not about being whitty, it’s about being yourself. I would not be here every day if it wasn’t humorous, entertaining and honest. Not to mention, TGB gives me reason to clean off the keyboard and screen every week.
I’ve also been exposed to some wonderful writers that I wouldn’t have known about if I had not wondered off of Goddess Nicole’s web site a mear 12 months ago.
    Thanks again ladies!!

  12. KariE on 15 Feb 2008 at 9:45 am #

    I obviously can’t spell mere.
And I can’t read either because while reading dogladys post, I read “customers and cow-workers” instead of “customers and coworkers”.
But that doesn’t compare to the other day when someone typed contemplated and I read constipated.
    Just being honest.

  13. Maggie Robinson on 15 Feb 2008 at 9:50 am #

I work in a high school library and must walk miles every day finding books and putting them away. I don’t get over here as often as I like, because at home I’m desperately revising something and am trying to be good. Being good is hard.

  14. Kim on 15 Feb 2008 at 9:52 am #

I love TGB because it really is a great group of girlfriends. You never know where the conversation will end up. I can recall wanderings that have ventured into “personal massagers”, football, childbirth, gyno exams, etc. Soon, we’ll be like prison women and on the same cycles. LOL Its great to have a place where you can laugh and truly be yourself.

And well, the anticipation of what Ellen’s going to say next is too irresistible.

  15. Margaret Garland on 15 Feb 2008 at 10:05 am #

I love TGB because it gives me a chance to live vicariously thru others. I wanted to be a writer sometime in the far distant past. Obviously not enough to actually hang in there and do it. Oh well. I am one heck of a reader.
I don’t work in an office these days and I barely work around the house. LOL I need Claudia to straighten me out.
My bio breaks down like this: Woman, widow, mother of 2, step-mom of 5, grandmother of 13 and great-gram to 2. Yesterday, I had a lovely afternoon spent with 2 of my adult grand-daughters and my very charming 9 month old great-granddaughter. I read everything. the backs of cereal boxes, those papers that come in medicine bottles, etc when I am inbetween books. A condition I avoid like the plague. I’m just finishing Higland Lord, Karen. Love the McLeans!

  16. ct009ct on 15 Feb 2008 at 10:23 am #

Before I can participate today, I must go and find out what I missed yesterday, since I am now under the impression that several of our goddesses are heading to a Moroccan Prison to make a u-tube video about hairy girls gone wild????????
    LOL very confusing?!?!?!

  17. claudia dain on 15 Feb 2008 at 10:24 am #

Margaret, you don’t need straightening out! What a lovely life you have! So many people to love and who love you. Make sure they all get a coaster.

Ellen, don’t shave; you’re going to want to feel those insects the second they start crawling up your legs. (cough…Rachel…cough)

  18. cail on 15 Feb 2008 at 10:42 am #

I wish I was going to Moracco with Ellen too! That would be the funniest vacation.

It’s great hearing about everyone’s day jobs. We all moonlight as writers/readers extraordinare, but sometimes its nice to know that although we may be goddesses/handmaidens (and i’ve been trying to think of a good word for us non writers, what do you guys think of Nymphs?) in our free time, we’re still all real amazing women with lives and people that love us.

TGB Rocks! (PS, for the record I stumbled here after being an addict of Sabrina’s Amazon.com blog, and when she left that and started this with all you wonderful authors I got completely and entirely hooked, on not only this blog but all your wonderful novels. I’m slowly working my way through all your backlists, while trying to keep up with all these great new releases!)

  19. KariE on 15 Feb 2008 at 10:55 am #

Ellen-Do the locals shave? I wouldn’t conform to their standards. Be a maverick!!

  20. ladydawgfan on 15 Feb 2008 at 11:27 am #

Ellen, of course, if you grow your leg hair long enough, you can always braid it with beads for a “fringe” look, which should be enough to impress ANY crowd!!

  21. LauraR on 15 Feb 2008 at 12:04 pm #

As someone else said, I come here because I never know what to expect. I can’t remember what led me to Mt. Oly but I’m sure glad I got here. The folks here are welcoming and supportive. Time to get back to work! Thanks all.

  22. Karen Hawkins on 15 Feb 2008 at 12:10 pm #

You guys have no idea how much you add to our days, too. THANK YOU all.

Ellen, perhaps you should just adopt a “decorous fringe” until you find out the true state of affairs in those foreign clime?

And Margaret, I’m so glad you’re enjoying the MacLeans! :) You made me grin from my head to my toes!

  23. Mia Rose on 15 Feb 2008 at 12:17 pm #

HA! I swear, some of the visuals I get when I’m at this blog… Priceless.

The thing I love most about TGB is… no, not that I tend to look like a simple-minded idiot grinning and laughing at my computer screen… not even that it provides ample distraction from a constantly ringing phone, annoying HomeOwners, or my husband (who I sadly work with and is in the office entirely too much lately). Nope, I love TGB because I can surround myself with so many amazing and talented (or amazingly taltented) women who make me laugh and allow me to be my dorky self with minimal embarassment.
I stop by a couple times during my work day to laugh and escape, in between emails, playing with pictures on Paint Shop Pro, and writing/editing my WIP. Oh, and working a little bit too.
I think I would have gone crazy a long time ago (not to mention I’d probably be in prison for strangling my husband) if I hadn’t have found ya’ll.
    :D

  24. Julie on 15 Feb 2008 at 12:31 pm #

I am hiding inside my home office…pretending to do something Really Important. Outside my citadel walls is the frightening Barbarian Horde. Well technically they’re not a Barbarian horde. It’s my DH and 5 of her friends, 5 high school freshman. So maybe The Barbie Horde is a better description. Anyway, They stayed up all night, did makeovers on each other, and watched Pirates of the Caribbean 3 times ….if I hear Jack is sexy one more time I’m gonna vomit. And noooowwwww they are doing a Dance routine to Britney Spear’s Oops I did It Again. I’m muttering every prayer I know to get me through this ordeal… and of course… I’ve decided that perhaps now would be a good time to write out my Last Will and Testament… just in case… because now they’re being To Quiet… Which any Mother will tell you is Very Suspicious. So I will have to open up my door and Deal with THEM.
    Say a Prayer for me.
    I’m gonna need it.
All I’ll say is look what listening to Britney Spears songs did to Britney.

  25. Julie on 15 Feb 2008 at 12:35 pm #

Oh, and I love your site because it is funny and fun and it helps keep my mind off of Stuff… like kids & dogs & DHs & Unhappy Endings. Which is why I read Romance in the first place, Right?

    All you Goddesses rock!!!

Seriously… a huge thank you from all the resident goddess bloggers for making this such a special place. Thanks for the all the laughs, camaraderie, and commiseration over the past year. And for all the good wishes now.

We hope you’ll continue to share your wonderful spirit, quips, and insights with us for a long time to come.

I love coming here even on days I’m not blogging. We’re a crazy bunch of cool chicks.

And, I’m very happy to have discovered that I’m not the only professional, mature, mostly normal female who likes Star Wars. *g*

  29. Karen Rose on 15 Feb 2008 at 1:16 pm #

I, too, missed the Moroccan prison reference. Ellen, re-share, please. Is this something you’ve done or plan to do, or just your special aura?

FYI, I shaved my legs for the Guatemalan prison. Just sayin’.

  30. Lisa H on 15 Feb 2008 at 1:20 pm #

cail - Thank you for defending my Johnny. Now I know you ladies know me.

I will forgive Julie because she has a housefull of teenagers and we all know that a housefull of teenagers will make you demented and say things that should never be said.

Btw, Johnny is up for an Oscar next Sunday. Not only is he gorgeous but he sings like a rock star angel and is talented beyond belief. Sigh…

  31. Lisa H on 15 Feb 2008 at 1:21 pm #

Karen R - why were you in prison? Research?

  32. Keri Ford on 15 Feb 2008 at 1:22 pm #

My office is my living room couch. I have an office with a desk in a seperate little room, but recently had the idea to clean out most of the junk (excluding the desk) to give my boy a playroom. I’d looked at this idea rather faltly because I can’t work while the boy plays because he wants to bang on mommy’s computer. Can’t work in my office when the boy’s awake on the weekends when the hubby watches him, cause, uh, well that’s his playroom. Can’t work in the living room either because my boy goes back and forth and the hubby cranks the tv up.

To aviod my TO DO LIST, I visit my bedroom and sleep while the baby naps. Either that or I poke around on the internet.

  33. Lisa H on 15 Feb 2008 at 1:22 pm #

    Streaking?

  34. Keri Ford on 15 Feb 2008 at 1:23 pm #

Ellen what a decision! I’m not sure what the Moroccans do, but if I were in a prison, I’d want to look as unattractive as I could to your fellow inmates. Never know about some of those people in them showers.

  35. Kay on 15 Feb 2008 at 1:26 pm #

WOW. So many good reasons to hang out on the mt with the goddesses. I started coming to TGB to see what this group on amazing authors were chatting about, and I stayed because the goddesses and the handmaidens are such REAL ( & cool) people.

I feel honored to catch a glimpse of everyone’s lives on TGB. I hate it when there are days I miss surfing over here–when life won’t GO AWAY long enough for me to get my goddess fix.

I am, as a friend puts it, a stay-not-at-home-mom. Between running the kids everywhere, helping out at the school & trying to figure out where to go with my WIP, I need my visits to the MT.

Thanks for sharing, and inspiring. :-)

  36. Georgie Lee on 15 Feb 2008 at 1:44 pm #

When I’m at home writing, TGB helps me take a break so I can go back to my writing with new ideas or maybe a solution to a problem.

  37. KariE on 15 Feb 2008 at 2:18 pm #

Ellen-All kidding aside, I hope you have a wonderful and safe trip. Don’t forget your tickets and travelers checks!!! (do people still use them?) Oh and your camera! Razors(?)

  38. KariE on 15 Feb 2008 at 2:19 pm #

If memory serves me, I do believe that one of our Goddesses did a blog about packing for trips…….

  39. Julia London on 15 Feb 2008 at 2:27 pm #

Mt. Oly won’t seem the same without Ellen for a couple of weeks. Have a fabulous time, Ellen!

  40. Julie on 15 Feb 2008 at 2:38 pm #

Sniff… the pressure got to me. Sorry Jack. Sorry Lisa H. But Common ladies…Cut me some slack. When is the last time you’ve been trapped in a house with 6 teenage girls? The high level of female hormones alone could kill you! I gave up My Valentines Day to host an Appreciate Your Friends Party. My DD told me that she though that Valentines Day is too hyped up. So she wanted to do something different… A party that celebrated love of friends. Not Lovers. Her comment to me this morning was “Gosh mom, everybody knows that boyfriends are gonna come and go. Who’s there for you when that happens? Not the boyfriend… it will be your friends.”
When my DD first asked to have a bunch of girlfriends over on V Day my initial reaction was … well something not printable. However, after thinking about it for a moment I realized that this was a great opportunity to reinforce the idea that women, yes even boy-crazy even young women, can enjoy themselves without a man around.
Now that I explained “the How” of how I found my self in this situation. Let me rephrase “the What” that I wrote. So, Cail. “ IF I HEAR another 14 or 15 year old , or any one else for that matter, say that Jack, a male, a female, an animal, vegetable, mineral or some something of unknown origins is Sexy one more time then Yes….I’m gonna vomit!” And speaking of things that make your stomach recoil in horror… when I left my office to see what was up… I was assailed by my DD & friends. They had made a cake. A not quite cooked cake. The DD shoved a spoonful of the stuff into my mouth before I could stop her. It took every ounce of courage I had to swallow the stuff.
Tonight the DH and I are having our belated Valentines Day dinner. All I’ll say is He better NOT tell me that I look Sexy. Or the only thing he’s getting for desert is raw cake.

  41. Amy on 15 Feb 2008 at 2:39 pm #

TGB for me is my gal pals. All the goddesses included. I hope you don’t mind. In fact everyone is included. I log on and feel as though everyone is a friend and not just an e-friend, but someone personal. I will tell funny stories to my friends over coffee or drinks and they will say Karen who Sabrina who or Lisa who or Pamala who, and I always say, “Oh, just a friend of mine.” Thank you all Ladies for being my gang as my 13 year old would say it. Or simplely my friends as my 4 year old would say. THAT is what TGB has meant to me. SHEESH… way to mushy, someone say something hysterical quick…*G*
    Amy

  42. Lisa H on 15 Feb 2008 at 2:45 pm #

Julie - I know that which you speak of…We had a costume party on Halloween for 8 - 14&15 year old girls…Thank God there were chicken wings for me to compulsively eat, as they tended to drive me a bit batty!

  43. Sabrina Jeffries on 15 Feb 2008 at 2:54 pm #

Okay, y’all are all going to make me cry! And I love hearing the little tidbits about your lives. It helps me get a pic in my mind of what you’re all like!

LisaH, Spider Solitaire is the most evil game ever invented. I love it! But I have to limit it to one game per day, or I spend hours at it.

  44. ladydawgfan on 15 Feb 2008 at 2:59 pm #

Sabrina, how in the heck do you limit Spider Solitaire to just ONE game per day???!!! Good GAAAWWWWD!!!!

  45. KariE on 15 Feb 2008 at 3:03 pm #

My game vice is Sudoku. I have it on my computer. On my phone. On the back of the toilet. On the coffee table. I sleep and see those stupid grids and numbers. I’ve tried to teach it to Sniky. She nodded her head at the right times and muttered her “oh I understand” but I don’t think she did.

  46. Cookiedough on 15 Feb 2008 at 3:04 pm #

    I ADORE TGB!
This week I haven’t been on..due to a lovely almost full week of migraines, and a bout of the icky flu.
I’ve popped in but it just took too much effort to comment.
    sigh
I like coming on to read everyone’s tidbit of life- whether it be a funny or life lesson learned.
I drive my friends crazy with my never ending stories of “this week on the blog…”

  47. Paula on 15 Feb 2008 at 3:05 pm #

My “Office” is a desk in a Science Prep room in a school there are 3 of us science technicians and various teachers dashing in, out and through during the day! On the walls there are 2 posters one of Orlando and the other ( I think of Lisa H every day!) of Johnny as Jack Sparrow.

I came to TGB thanks to Suzanne via her web site and through the Blogs have discovered all the rest of you wonderful Goddessess and read alot more fantastic books and I am still working my way through them. Karen H I have just got the 3 highlander books which are now in my TBR pile. I “escape” with TGB from work hassles and family hassles and visit at least once a day sometimes more. I love hearing what everyone else gets up to and about all your holidays. Ellen have a fab time.

  48. SuzyQ on 15 Feb 2008 at 3:08 pm #

I can’t play one game of Spider either. Sabrina, you truly are a goddess!! What willpower!!

Another addicting game for me is Bejeweled. Anyone ever try that one?

  49. SnikyWhite on 15 Feb 2008 at 3:09 pm #

LOL KariE! I did do a lot of smiling and nodding. I get the concept of the game, but without the cheats online or you in my ear telling me when I’m wrong the game just makes my head hurt!! I much prefer Spider Solitaire, but I do enjoy the challenge on Sudoku…you know, when I feel like I haven’t been abused enough that day.

  50. Paula on 15 Feb 2008 at 3:09 pm #

Oh I forgot to say I work 4 days and on the fifth day apart from checking out TGB not a lot else gets done whilst the boys are at school!! LOL

  51. SnikyWhite on 15 Feb 2008 at 3:11 pm #

Ellen - I hope you have an excellent trip. Relax, have fun, make memories and enjoy the mess out of your time away. And in spite of the jokes, please shave…that’s how they’ll know you aren’t Mediterranean ;) SAFE TRAVELS!!!

  52. Ann in IL on 15 Feb 2008 at 3:17 pm #

I vote we turn the blog over to Ellen for a day after she returns. Surely she will have enough vacation “incidents ” to fill a day on Mt Oly.

My visits are after work. If I tried to escape for a few minutes, the screen at work would say “Access Denied”.

I’m not a writer - just a reader. I love knowing about the upcoming releases and the teasers you authors share to whet our reading appetites - as if they needed it.

Thanks to all the Goddesses for giving me a place to come and relax and laugh after a long work day.

  53. Ellen on 15 Feb 2008 at 3:45 pm #

My comments are not posting…which actually makes this post silly.

  54. SnikyWhite on 15 Feb 2008 at 3:48 pm #

LOL well that would be par for the course Ellen

  55. ct009ct on 15 Feb 2008 at 3:50 pm #

Hilarious! I now understand the whole Moroccan prison-utube-hairy girls thing.
    You guys are the greatest!!
Ellen, have a wonderful trip and bring KariE and Snick lots of pics. I wouldn’t mind seeing the one of you smuggling Maraccas.

  56. Freshechelle on 15 Feb 2008 at 3:56 pm #

So I’ll admit it, I started TBGing small time. Once a day, just to see what was what, no plans of returning. Then I submitted a comment & it grew. But I can stop anytime. Authors’ sites were my gateway site, now I’ve got to get my TBG hit 5-6 times a day. It feeds my need to be where the action (all you swell gals) is and more importantly, TBG enables me to be the best procrastinator I can be. This addictive streak is the reason I won’t try cheesecake. What if I like it?

I’ve loved learning from TBG that:

Ellen - have a wonderful trip! I’m sure you’ll have plenty of stories to tell when you get back.

This place has become a part of my *Calgon, take me away* routine. (I realize some of you may be to young to get that).
In this year, I have moved from lurker to occasional commentator. I still have many comments that never make it to submit - but I’m working on that.

Suzanne, though I am not a professional, I am a mature mostly normal female who just this week had a light saber fight in my front yard with my 7 yr old grandson. I had to use the Red Darth Maul dual saber (not that easy to wield) as he likes the old green Luke Skywalker saber. We also have one of the newer ones that change color.

Lisa H - I just visited a Guatemalan prison back in the early eighties while traveling with a church missionary group.

Fresh - I won’t try guacamole for the same reason - what if I like it as much as chocolate (gasp).

This will be my first photo

    LMAO ELLEN!!

I thought you had less gray!

  62. KariE on 15 Feb 2008 at 4:37 pm #

    LMAO!!!!

  63. SnikyWhite on 15 Feb 2008 at 4:39 pm #

Fresh - I can say you will most likely enjoy cheesecake. Wise move.

Karen Rose - I don’t understand how anyone could like guacamole, especially more than chocolate.

Ladies, I am off for the weekend, though I will try to touch base for some FROS on Sunday. Tomorrow is my daughter’s 6th birthday party and who knows, maybe, just maybe there will be pictures of KariE and I on roller skates to look forward to :)

    Have a great weekend ladies!!!

  64. Ellen on 15 Feb 2008 at 4:42 pm #

Thank you all for your wonderful, warm wishes. I promise to have an incredible time and will tell you all about it when I get back. I leave tomorrow at 1pm and will be back on the 26th.

I truly wish I could pack you all in my suitcase. I will try to check in a few times before I fly off. If not, Happy Birthday to all my new friends. You brought me such joy and laugher during a very difficult year.

    I love you all.

  65. Ellen on 15 Feb 2008 at 4:44 pm #

Helllllooooo Sniky. I’m guessing Miss Clairol Medium Brown will not be joining me in prison. LOL
    Enjoy your weekend.

I love TGB cause it makes me laugh. I Share a section of the office with Robin, she is a sweet person but a tad bit loud. LOL When I am on the phone with the automated insurance companies they are forever hearing her. We don’t face each other but both have a window to look out of. that so helps. My boss was evil today so coming to TGB makes me feel so much better.

I love earing about everyones lives and men they “own”

Oh Karen Rose I got a pint of Graeters Double Chocolate Chip last night at Krogers in your honor.

Well, the Spider Solitaire that I put on my MAC allows me unlimited Undo, which means I can get to the last deal on SS, find I’m not going to win and go back as many times as possible. And THAT means that a game might last an hour to an hour and a half if it’s really hard and won’t let me win. I can’t allow more than that, or I’d never get anything done. But I do feel deprived if I win in 15 mins. Then sometimes I will do it again.

Right now, my record is 1 loss out of 26 games (I reset it once I discovered that I really could win it virtually every time if I went back often enough). Last night I finally found one that I just couldn’t seem to win, no matter how many times I went back. Sigh. Until then, I had a 100% win score.

When I used to play it on Windows, however, you couldn’t do the undo so much, and I averaged about 85% with 4 suits. With 2 suits, I win it pretty much every time.

Now you see why I have deliberately not learned Sudoku–I get too obsessive!

Ellen, I was expecting a photo that showed off skill from the Julia London School of PhotoShopology. Happy Morocco!

    um…that is actually my tongue.

Well, my work is a double edged sword when it comes to relaxing and stress because it’s both! I often wander off to do graphics just because I want to but then sometimes things just don’t want to work out as expected.

I know, I have such a boring life haha.

  71. Lisa H on 15 Feb 2008 at 7:56 pm #

Ellen after viewing your recent photo, I recant my earlier comment. Forget the bra and go ahead and shave your legs!

    LOL

I love ya! I’ll miss your posts, but have a fabulous time, eat a lot and check out gorgeous latin men!

  72. Lisa H on 15 Feb 2008 at 7:57 pm #

Oh Suzanne - I did not know about the redo! I’m going to try it tonight!

  73. Kelly Ann on 15 Feb 2008 at 10:01 pm #

You guys are so great! I always set aside time in the evenings to wander through everyones postings. I now have a new job working for an engineering company again - thank goodness. I’ll be able to drop in during the day now too. Yeah!

My office is pretty boring at the moment. I’m the only woman in an office of men who play with dirt all day. They have decorated nothing. I’m probably fortunate that they seem to have kept the toilet clean! It’s a good sign that most of them are pretty well trained. I was told I could decorate anyway that I wished. I have loads of ideas. White walls can be depressing! I don’t want to turn it into a english flower garden - well I do, but it would probably be mean. I do have an entire wall of windows (with blinds) that is very nice!

My home office is books, books, books! It’s a nook in my dining room with a desk and bookshelves. Nicely decorated in a wine color with old odds & ends china plates I’ve collected & french country accents. Love it!

  74. Kelly Ann on 15 Feb 2008 at 10:08 pm #

Ellen have a wonderful safe trip! Bring back loads of pictures to share.

Suzanne, my children sneak up behind me with their sabers and try to hold me hostage! Especially if I’m cooking something for dinner they don’t care for! Ha-ha!

Sabrina, my dad is addicted to spider solitare. He plays every morning! I don’t like the little spider picture on the cards - though it is a fun game. Can’t wait for Tuesday!

Karen H - I adored To Catch A Highlander!!! Excellent! You always please!

Nicole - I loved To Pleasure A Lady! I’m so impatient for Roslyn’s story! I can’t wait! Thank you for the wonderful read!

  75. Karen Hawkins on 16 Feb 2008 at 1:49 pm #

You guys are the best. The absolute best. :)

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit, post, read, and share. And HERE’S TO ANOTHER YEAR! WHOOP WHOOP!

  76. Nicole Jordan on 17 Feb 2008 at 11:18 am #

Thanks so much for your compliments, Kelly Ann! I’m thrilled you liked TPAL.

    And I agree, I adored Karen’s HIGHLANDER!

I also agree with Karen’s last post…. y’all are the very best. Thanks for a great year.
