What does your screen saver say about you?
Dec 22nd 2007
RachelGOn Writing!
My current screen saver is me squeezing my cat and kissing her until she meows that she loves me. I wondered what this says about me, and I decided that it means I like to force my love on reluctant animals. I asked Mr. G. if he feels like I force my love on him, and he assured me that I don’t force my love on him as much as he’d like me to. So, I guess it’s just animals who feel the need to run and hide from me.
What about you? What is your screen saver and what does it say about you? And sorry if this blog is lame. I am brain dead from x-mas shopping.

Fun question, Rachel! I use the Window’s “Bliss” screen saver… green grass rolling meadow. Perfect for riding my horse across.
You golfers are gonna shoot me, but I think that would be the best use of golf courses, too…. a great place to gallop my horse! *grin*
Also, Rachel. I don’t think kitties are a good indicator of how loveable you are. We all love you and we goddesses can’t be wrong.
And I envy you for your Xmas shopping success. I’ve barely started!!

My screen saver is a marquee that someone once snuck onto my computer while I was out of the room. It reads “Damn you look good today.”
I forget it’s there when I’m presenting at a meeting (which is rare). It pops up after a few minutes and gets an unexpected reaction.
Try it, you’ll like it.

Oh, I used to be interesting. Once I had a screensaver that was these bouncing sheep - they’d drop from the sky and bounce higher and higher until they got a critical height and would hit the ground and explode into little sheep pieces. It was delightfully disgusting and a gift from DH.
Then I had the 3-D Windows Marquis roll around and changed the saying fairly regularly. I had: “It’s only a flesh wound” and similar Pythonesque sayings.
I got a new laptop a few years ago when I was still teaching and typed “MY NEW TOY” into the Marquis, then one day I was using my laptop to do a powerpoint presentation to my students and found my DH had replaced it with “MY BOY TOY.” The kids thought this was funny. I put a password protector on my laptop so that DH couldn’t put any more “funny” sayings on it.
Now, I’m boring, it’s the Windows Default screensaver. I have to change that! Not that I’d be procrastinating my deadline or anything…

My screen saver is various images of forests that fade in and out. Very pretty. But my wallpaper at the moment is Richard Armitage in North and South. So maybe I’m schizophrenic–I want peace on the one hand and hot sex on the other.
BTW, Rachel, been there, done that on the Christmas shopping. It can drive you crazy! I’m so happy that I’m finished. It helps that I order most things from catalogs to avoid going out into the mess.

Rachel–that is an adorable picture and like Nicole said; don’t judge your loveablity by cats. If we go by that I’m going to be really sad cuz my cat hates me.
My screen saver is just one of the pre-loaded Windows ones. It looks like a creek or something. I used to have a really cool M&M one where they looked like they were falling out of the sky.
We’re finishing up our Christmas shopping today. I hope. Luckily I know what I’m picking up I just have to brave the stores. *gulp*

I got my screen saver from this blog! It’s Hugh Jackman reading Men’s Vogue and it makes me smile every time I see it.
And Rachel, your kitty loves you. It’s just against the International Laws of Cat Behavior for her to show you. If she did, she’d be kicked out of the Kitty Club. Or so I tell myself when my cat looks at me as if I’m really, REALLY in her way.

I change my wallpaper pretty regularly. I have no front windows that look over the street, so during storms I use the pic I took while standing att he front door of the snow blowing and cover ing uip the street.
today it’s a red bike covered in snow, my son took the pic at university.
My screensaver used to be my pictures file in a slideshow bouncing all around, but now it’s a star field- I feel like I’m flying the Millenium Falcon with Han by my side

Rachel, considering what your cat’s eyes look like when I enlarge the picture, I believe her head might start spinning around at any moment. So, I’d be very, very careful of forcing my love on this creature. She may be an alien in a cat suit disguise.
The blog was lame. It suits the last few agonizing days before Christmas. I can proudly say that I never set foot in one brick-and-mortar store to Christmas shop this year. I haven’t in several years really. It’s the Internet for me and let Joe the postman do the walking. He gets paid for it.
Don’t have a screen saver. They annoy me. Bah humbug. LOL
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!!!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I didn’t mean to say the blog was lame! I meant to say it WASN’T lame. Sheesh.
Please, please forgive my fox paws and don’t hide your latest books from me. I luuuuvs U.
Mea culpa as some columnist always says

COOKEEMAMA - LOVE THAT “FOX PAWS” !
Sorry about the caps. Anyway, I really like this blog, I think it may show a bit about our personalities. My wallpaper is a gorgeous picture of Johnny Depp in a hat. His lips are smiling a little and his eyes are on fire! (Sweeny Todd just came out, but I think I am too chicken to go to it—I heard it’s very gory)
After last Sunday’s FRO’s, I would like to make that my wallpaper, but alas my children use this computer and they would be properly scandalized! My husband too!
I like funny and unique wallpapers. Karen R - I think I would have liked the falling sheep one—it gives “leg of lamb” a whole new meaning.
BTW, I am done shopping! Just a couple more gifts to wrap and an afternoon cooking and voila - I’ll be all done!

cookeemomma,
it’s only fair that the cat’s head spins. She spends most of her time making my head spin. She is not happy until she’s knocked everything off my desk. I have to kick her out of my office to get anything done.

My wallpaper is a scene from Finding Nemo. The seagulls standing around looking at each other. My screensaver is the pictureshow. It’s all the pics I’ve downloaded from my camera and some I’ve retrieved off the net. I think this says that I need to grow up and leave Disney behind. But that would mean I’d have to leave Grover behind too, and I refuse to do that! I’m done with the shopping, I just have to finish the wrapping.

Cats only respond to love that is forced on them, don’t they, Rachel?
My screensaver is the cutest little boy in the world with glasses and his big chief indian hat on. He is Jack London’s grandchild. I am too young to have grandchildren.
Ladytink_534 on 22 Dec 2007 at 12:51 pm #
My screensaver is a bunch of Disney characters gathered around Casey Jr. in the snow all dressed up in winter garb.
Suzanne Enoch on 22 Dec 2007 at 12:56 pm #
My screensaver is a scrolling marquis that says “get back to work!”. My wallpaper is a very cool Gambit from the X-Men.
Ha! I bet everyone thought it would be Star Wars. Well, that was last week, you smartie pantses. *g*
Lisa H on 22 Dec 2007 at 1:28 pm #
Julia, what are you, about 29?
Judy F on 22 Dec 2007 at 1:47 pm #
my wallpaper is the nice looking model Henri Castelli. my screen saver is a bunch of navy seals… LOL
Rachel cats have their own method of showing love. Right now mine is on my lap and keeps wanting to be petted. I think he is upset I have been gone so much working two jobs. Today I am home and he wants his time.
Ellen on 22 Dec 2007 at 2:11 pm #
Rachel…the cat is smiling. It cannot feel too forced.
Right now my screensaver is 3D pipe and my wallpaper is an ocean view from our trip to Maine.
When did I become so boring?
Wendy on 22 Dec 2007 at 2:57 pm #
Mine’s a sunflower! or at least a quarter of it - it shows a little of the black in the middle and long yellow petals. It’s really pretty and bright.
Karen Hawkins on 22 Dec 2007 at 3:39 pm #
Suzie Enoch, I can’t wait for X-Men to include Gambit! I loooove him in the comics. Soooo sexy and oh la la, such a charmer!
Btw, a bit off topic, but I saw Enchanted and was the actor who played the prince the same one who played Cyclops in the X-Men movies? They seemed similar to me.
Cookiedough on 22 Dec 2007 at 4:21 pm #
Yes, Karen H , it was James Marsden in Enchanted.
zambonigirl on 22 Dec 2007 at 4:35 pm #
the wallpaper at work is my little guinea pig snoopy. at home, it’s me and my friend at her parent’s beach house, overlooking the oceasn in san clemente. um…dunno what they say about me other than i like furry little animals and my friends. i feel a bit like ellen (above me in comments), but it can’t be boring to enjoy our friends and furries, can it? lol
your kitty is adorable. he’d be struggling if he wasn’t happy. he loves his mummy.
Tracy Kay on 22 Dec 2007 at 4:38 pm #
My screensaver AND wallpaper is that picture posted in a recent FRO’s blog - you know….the sexy santa man with no clothes on…
Man would i like to take a roll in the hay with him.
Liked him so much that he’s now the main theme of my computer!!! :o) *g*

my screen saver is a bunch of photos of family and friends that fade in and out. The kids LOVE watching it and pointing everyone out. I’m not sure what that says about me….maybe that I’m willing to put cheap entertainment up for my kids? ;P
My wallpaper is a photo of my DH and myself on our wedding day. Not all dudded up, but before we beat a hasty retreat to the airport for our honeymoon.
Both give me warm fuzzies, so maybe that’s what it says: I’m a sap.
Paula on 22 Dec 2007 at 4:40 pm #
My background picture is a photo that I took from THE bridge in Monet’s garden in Giverney when we went there in may ‘07. My screensaver is a slide show of all the photos that I’ve loaded on to the computer. I agree with LisaH . I would like last sundays FROS but due to my sons and DH using the computer I might have a few questions/complaints to answer. I am still hoping that he might appear at mine tomorrw (23/12) as a birthday pressie for me. I can hope and dream!!
Kay on 22 Dec 2007 at 4:43 pm #
My wallpaper is a picture of my kids. We took it when we went hiking up by Lake Superior this fall. We used it as our Christmas card picture this year.
My screen saver is a slide show from that trip.
I’ll change it all after Christmas. The wallpaper will be Christmas morning in front tree! The screen save will be a Christmas eve & day slide show.

Julia,
Wish I had a cute little boy to put up on my screensaver. My little boy is 22 and not cute anymore. He just came by and took two roles of aluminum foil and a bag of bows to wrap up his x-mas presents. He thinks aluminum foil is the perfect wrap because you don’t need tape.
Karen Rose on 22 Dec 2007 at 7:38 pm #
I like the way your son thinks, Rachel. Aluminum foil ranks right up there with duct tape in my book as miracle materials.
catslady on 22 Dec 2007 at 8:01 pm #
My daughter is in the art field and I have some of her work on my screensaver - the current one has some of her anime characters.

OMG…julia…your DH’s name is JACK?!.. hehe …for some reason that reminded me of jack and jill… there’s absolutely no connection, but somehow my mind made one.*shrugs*
well i’m proud to say, that i have not even started christmas shopping, while i was thinking about starting however, i remembered an old family friend of ours, who’s parents used to by christmas presents on boxing day, now i’m all for the sales..but…how could you possibly not have pressies to open on christmas morning?!… it’s like having no purpose in life!..*shakes head in dismay*
anyhow *hi5* to Rachel’s son and the aluminium foil idea
pri.r. on 22 Dec 2007 at 9:37 pm #
ooh totally forgot the point of this blog,
my screensaver on my laptop is a slideshow of all my pictures from my camera,
and my wallpaper is all these cute little kids, in black and white photos in cute poses:)
doglady on 22 Dec 2007 at 10:17 pm #
Suzanne, I need that marquis that says BACK TO WORK!! And I am SO glad I am not the only one who turned last week’s FROS into my screensaver. I thought I might be weird . . . or something. Hmmm. Never mind. I live alone so I can look at him all I want! I did, however, zip and e-mail off to all of my friends, the girls in my home town critique group, my online critique group, etc so that they could stop by Mt. Olympus and have a very Merry Christmas like the rest of us.
evlqn on 22 Dec 2007 at 10:51 pm #
My wallpaper is a picture I tookof ou rporch last Christmas with the trees lit u and the recent snow surrounding them. The screensaver is a slideshow of all the pictures I have taken and downloaded to the computer. So I never know what is going to show up on screen, according to kodak easyshare I have 1298 photos in my albums. I really think I should delete a few. I wouldn’t mind the santa picture but we have too many kids around for that, blast!
Karen Rose on 22 Dec 2007 at 11:13 pm #
Doglady, nothin’ like sharing the joy of the season! I’m sure your friends were very, very grateful.
ladydawgfan on 22 Dec 2007 at 11:36 pm #
My wallpaper for the Christmas season is a photo that I copied from my school’s website with bows, Christmas balls, and a little cowbell in my school colors. After Christmas, it will go back to a picture I took at the Bridge-tunnel in Virginia of a gull in flight in the sunlight.
My screensaver is one I downloaded from the alumni association at school. Yes, I AM the boring one!!!
I need to find the bouncing sheep FAST!!!
Dot C on 23 Dec 2007 at 1:04 am #
I WANT THE BOUNCING SHEEP THING!!!!!!! I NEED THE BOUNCING SHEEP THING. GRRRRRRRRR SNORTT SNORRT….HACK…

Lisa, that’s so flattering, but no, I am not 29. I am 30
pri — my husband’s name is not really Jack. I just like to call him Jack “Call of the Wild” London because it makes him crazy.
Rachel the aluminum foil is brilliant!!

My screensaver is a slideshow of all the pictures on my computer…and there are a LOT of pictures on my computer! My wallpaper on the other hand is my current obsession…Alex O’Loughlin. Yummy!
