A little stocking stuffer . . . .
Dec 6th 2007
Karen HawkinsOn Writing!
Want to win an ARC for my January release TO CATCH A HIGHLANDER? Then join in today as we write our own Christmas songs!
Use any Christmas song you love and rewrite the lyrics so that it’s about your time here at Mt. Oly.
I’ll do one! (I love to do these things.)
To the tune of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer:
You know Jeffries and Dain, Enoch and Jordan!!
Hawkins, and Rose, Gibson and London!
But do you recall, the best of Mt. Oly and ALL?
Perky, our Goddess Readers, have a very biting wit!
And if you ever read them, your coffee you would spit!
All of the other blogs, watch with massive jealousy!
They never had our great Readers, join in so fun and merry!
Oooooh! That was fun!
Anyway, you get the point. If you want TO CATCH A HIGHLANDER in your Christmas stocking, a MONTH before it’s released, then get to rhyming!

(Sing to Jingle Bells)

Nobody cares about my face
My hair ‘s a total mess
I’m a basket case
You try to make me smile
When I feel so sad
You go the extra mile
And ignore me when I’m bad
Oooooh
Bloggers come
Bloggers go
But we are here to stay
We write our words
So tongue in cheek
And make each other’s day AAAY
Bloggers come

(Sing to “We three kings of Orient are”)
We the goddesses of Mt Oly are
The wildest women of near or of far
In see through blouses
We’ll bring down the houses
Then head on out, to our favorite bar
Oooooh oh
Goddesses of sarcasm
Goddesses of might
Check out our asses
What an ungodly sight
Still we laugh at them
Write songs to bash at them
Who needs an ass that’s far too tight?
Ellen on 06 Dec 2007 at 10:09 am #
Laurie…Goddesses Grow. Damn. You’ve been checking my Jenny Craig file. LOL
Kim on 06 Dec 2007 at 10:20 am #
THis was too much fun to pass up! To the tune of Up on the Housetop.
Up on the mountain Goddesses pause
Out jumps good old Handmaiden Kim
Down through the hot springs with lots of nectar
All for the creative ones, Christmas FROS
Hot, hot, hot! We want Colin!
Hot, hot, hot! We want Hugh!
Up on the mountain, click, click, click
Down through the hallways with Handmaiden Kim.
First comes the slide show of Hugh Jackman
Oh, dear Karen, filled it well.
Give her a day with him all alone
We’ll never hear the end.
Hot, hot, hot! We want Clive!
Hot, hot, hot! We want George!
(same half chorus)
Next comes the picture of Cookiedough’s friend
Oh, just see what a glorious fill! (teehee, didn’t even have to change this line)
Here is a picture of Richard and Brad
Also don’t forget Heath and Jude.
Hot, hot, hot! We want FROS!
Hot, hot, hot! We want FROS!

Nothing fright’ning
Just causing some smiles
And on every Sunday you’ll see

Sund to Jingle Bells
Dashing through my brain
In a one track minded blurr
Over the fros pics we go
Lusting all the way Ha Ha Ha
Bells on FROs tails ring
Making goddesses drool
What fun it is to laugh and blog
In the snow or in the pool
Oh Goddess Blogs
Goddess Blogs
typing with out cease
They don’t care
What we wear
As long as we are here
Oh Goddess Blogs
Not big hogs
Lovely and witty too
They make us laugh
Until we cry
And write books that sell good too!
Mia Rose on 06 Dec 2007 at 1:30 pm #
This is dangerous, because I listen to X-Mas music all day long, and now every time I hear a song, I think of different lyrics! I’m never going to get any work done

Okay, this time hum ‘White Christmas’…
I’m dreaming of a hottie FRO
Just make sure I see one Pronto
Where his tanned skin glistens
And we all become smitten
To hope we win the FRO’s lotto
I’m dreaming of a hottie FRO
With every Mt. Oly goddess blog
May your FRO be far from a hog
And may all your FROS be missing togs (had to look that word up)
I’m dreaming of a hottie FRO
With every hope of being naughty
May your FRO have a great body
And may you dream of the 2 of you in Bali

To the tune of “Here comes Santa Claus”
Here come the Goddesses
Here come the Goddesses
Right down Mt. Oly Lane!
Karen and Rachel and Julia, too
Are writing like their insane.
Nicole is researching, Suzanne is editing
Karen is making us rhyme
Sabrina is plotting and Claudia’s outlining
Writing books sure does take time!

These are even better than I imagined they’d be — and I had high expectations, too!
Hey wait, ct! I’m the only author in your song who isn’t doing a WRITING related job and that’s just . . . ok, that’s probably pretty accurate. I did bake a cake today, though. AND I did the dishes. Oh, and I found something for my daughter’s Xmas Pile. Does any of that count?

To Deck the Halls:
Up up-on old Mt Oly
Goddesses totally rock and rule
We decorate with yard art so jolly
Ignoring Zeus’s ridicule.
Don we now our bikinis and togas
Goddesses totally rock and rule
And on Sundays we have yummy FRO-OS
This is way better than teaching school!
Verse 2:
Every day is something new-ew
Goddesses totally rock and rule
Into my keyboard my TAB I do spew-ew
And mess up writing cubicle.
Better readers are nowhere
Goddesses totally rock and rule
I’m glad the holidays we can share
The Goddess Blogs is very cool!

Karen H - you did the dishes? I bow to you. I cleaned up my kitchen THOUROUGHLY over Thanksgiving and have been making the family eat off paper plates ever since. I’m not kidding.
We did use the china on T-giving and it’s clean and still sitting on my dining room table waiting to be put away. I’m thinking if I put it off long enough, it’ll be Christmas and we can just use it again.
NOOOO - it can’t be Christmas because my deadline’s 1/1.
Karen Rose on 06 Dec 2007 at 3:52 pm #
It’s beginning to look a lot like deadline,
Everywhere you go
Take a look around my house
If you can find your way around
The stacks of mail and TAB cans.
It’s beginning to look a lot like deadline,
My hair is such a mess,
Pizza Hut’s on speed dial
I step around the piles
Of all the holiday cards I mean to address!
It’s beginning to look a lot like deadline,
Clues and bodies are piling up
Villains are chasing heroes
But the heroes are very smart
And will win the heroine’s heart
(reprise, one more time!)
And will shoot the villain in the heart
Ta-da!

(This is going to be sooo bad but no one has done this song yet)
Sung to: Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don’t Be Late)
Goddesses Goddesses gather near
We talk of books and talk of brassieres
We like the wine but it never lasts
In the forum you’ll find some laughs
On Mt Oly we have a hoot
Say, can you swing a hula hoop?
(I tired and tried but there was no tactful way to combine Sabrina, KarenH, KarenR, Rachel, Claudia, Nicole, Julia and Suzanne into Alvin, Simon and Theadore for the beginning part)
tactful, haha I said tactful hahahhaha

To the tune of “Away in the Manger”
Way up on Mt. Oly, no time for their naps.

They’re amusing each other, the whole day long.

To the tune of “Let It Snow”
Oh, Mt. Oly is our favorite place
With the Goddesses, fair of face
And as long as they love us so
Give us FROS, give us FROS, give us FROS!
They know how we love those guys
Yes, those hotties help us fantasize
Be they celebs or average Joes
Give us FROS, give us FROS, give us FROS!
When we check out those bods on our screens
Our temperatures begin to rise
They become the men of our dreams
With abs of steel and bedroom eyes!
Oh, the Goddesses are divine
Sharing these men with us, they’re so kind
And they know that we love them so
Give us FROS, give us FROS, give us FROS!

Ode to our Karens (sing as Away in the Manger)
Away on Mt. Oly, no rest for her head
Poor little Karen Rose plots for the dead
She racks up the tab cans, revealing small clues
And now we know Jeffrey Dahmer is her secret muse
Away with Karen H, just baking a cake
She washed a few dishes; family’s health was at stake
She composed a little ditty for our Christmas glee
And some were so funny, I almost went pee
I’m thankful for the Karens, filled with such fun
Catch em on New Years, when they’re filled with Blue Nun
Whether writing or Blogging, they bring forth my smiles
And laugher is the one thing that erases the miles
And to all a good night…for now. LOL

PS - Dahmer. Ew.

To the tune of The Twelve Days of Christmas
On the 12th day of Christmas the Goddess’s books gave to me….
Twelve kilts a’ flying
Eleven bosoms heaving
Ten lords a’ lusting
Nine ladies gasping
Eight mamas scheming
Seven rogues romancing
Six skirts a’ lifting
Five minutes more
Four legs entwined
Three days alone
Two lovers caught
And a parson in the chapel
Thanks, Karen H for such a fun idea!

OLYMPUS WONDERLAND
(please sing to the tune of Winter Wonderland)
Authors write, are you reading?
On Mt. Oly, fun’s not fleeting.
Whatta beautiful sight,
We’re happy tonight,
Looking at the FROS by moonlight.
Go right now, to the bookstore
Give Mom a break - buy Karen’s book,
Get some advice,
A recipe that’s nice,
Then talk in a virtual wonderland.
In the forum you can join a song fest.
And get hints or tips on what you like best!
They say Are they be married?
We‘ll say No man.
It’s the Regency period
They will fall when they can.
Later on, we’ll conspire,
And we’ll dream by the fire
Of the friends that we‘ve made,
The time we have stayed,
With the Goddesses on the Mount!
**I know that it can use a little tweaking but I tried to incorporate a little bit of everything in the very short amount of time I had to get it together! If I have time to tweak and come back, I will!!
Ellen on 06 Dec 2007 at 8:39 pm #
Lisa H…don’t know about you but that song will never be the same for me!

I didn’t have a lot of time so I just did the 12 days of Christmas….it is the last week of classes so I am swamped….but here it goes and Haapy Holidays everyone.
On the twelfth day of Christmas my goddesses sent to me,
Twelve dazzling dukes,
Eleven passionate pirates,
Ten sexy seducers,
Nine romantic rakes,
Eight earnest earls,
Seven loving lords,
Six dreamy doctors,
Five golden gods,
Four ravishing rogues,
Three stunning soldiers,
Two highland hunks ,
And a romance novel written just for me!

Thank goodness I’m not too late!!
To the tune of “Oh Holy Night”
“Ode to the Frustrated Writer”
Oh Holy Cow!
My deadline’s fast approaching
My hands are numb
And my butt’s fast asleep
No beauty rest
When I work on my writing
Can’t give up now
I’m in this way too deep.
I thought the words would flow like sweet molasses
But my poor brain is stuck in second gear
My plot took a hike!
I need some inspiration!
Oh where is my Hugh, my Colin, or my Gerry.
I need my eye candy to help me find my way
Oh send my Hugh, or Colin or Gerry
Or a facsimile thereof!

To “Oh Christmas Tree”
Oh Mt Oly, Oh Mt Oly,
Your Goddesses shine brightly
Oh Mt. Oly, Oh Mt. Oly
Their writing does delight me!
And when Release Day rolls around
My Borders store is where I’m bound!
Oh Mt. Oly, Oh Mt. Oly,
My check book does despise me!!

I came home from work and read all of these at once. Now my keyboard is covered with Earl Gray and I had to go to the bathroom before I posted my feeble efforts. Ladies, you are all musical geniuses! Karen H, this was ALMOST as good an idea as FROS. ALMOST!!!!!
To the tune of Greensleeves aka What Child is This?
What blog is this where Goddesses meet
To chat with readers to their delight?
From tacky yard art to dreams and gossip
They’re always entertaining.
Murder, mayhem, romance and intrigue
Come all our Goddesses to serve them up
Our keyboards suffer from coffee spewage and
FRO Sundays make us drool.

Well, here goes nothing! This is to the tune of Jingle Bells.
Dashing to the store
In my sweatpants I did run
Tackling other patrons
For a chance at the last one
It’s setting on the shelf
Just beyond my reach
I’m now beyond all patience
I think I’m going to screech!
Oh, Jordan, Dain, London
Enoch, Hawkins, Rose
We are fighting in the bookstore
For a chance to read your prose!

One more for the road. LITERALLY!!
To the tune of - Grandma Got Runned Over by a Reindeer
Karen got runned over by Hugh Jackman
Coming home from Sabrina’s Christmas Eve
You may say there’s no such thing as Goddesses
But as for me and Karen, we believe!
Rachel G drove by with Bat Boy
She was taking him to see Suzanne’s giraffe.
Hugh was giving Karen mouth to mouth
“Boy,” Rachel sighed. “That man sure as a cute +**”
They were there so long Julia thought they were yard art.
Karen Rose took kinky photos of the crime.
Nicole thought it was all a weird dream
And Claudia kept telling Karen “Hugh is MINE!”
Karen got runned over by Hugh Jackman
Coming home from Sabrina’s Christmas Eve
You may say there’s no such thing as Goddesses,
But as for all of us who read their books WE BELIEVE!!!

Okay, so I have been racking my brain for the last hour and a half for good, catchy lyrics and I am drawing a blank. My brain has shut down, it’s finals week next week and I haven’t been here in a few months. I can’t think of anything to write other than this….To the Tune of “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus”
I saw Zeus writing a new rule
for the goddesses to abide by tonight.
He didn’t see me sneak
onto the patio of Mt. Olympiad;
He thought I was tucked away
with the goddesses stories and a picture of Channing Tatum from Karen Hawkins.
Then, he turned in my direction
and asked me to come hither.
Oh, and if I could have done his bidding,
I wonder if he would have ravished me.
But I ran away so I could tell you all that
I saw Zeus writing a new rule tonight.

Karen, I don’t envy you your task. There’s no way I could choose just one person to win your ARC. Just when I’d pick a winner somebody else would post another hilarious song. (Doglady, that last one was simply inspired.)
I don’t know when I’ve laughed so hard! You ladies are awesome!

Doglady, you cracked me up, as usual!
Andrea, welcome back! Don’t be a stranger, chica! That’s an awesome poem.
I put all of the names of entries in a hat, one for each entry so if you wrote more than one, you were entered more than once and I drew a name . . .
Brenda. Can you email me at authorkarenhawkins@gmail.com? I need your snail mail address!

Thanks Karen! It feels good to be back! This semester all I did was read books for my classes. It seemed like when I would get a break, my professors would pile on more homework! Don’t you just love professors for doing that? haha Yeah right!
Next week is finals, as I said in my last post, and I will be able to get on here more often and check out all the goodies I’ve missed over the last months. I promise, I’ll not be a stranger anymore.
Congratulations Brenda! And to all the other ladies who came up with songs, I enjoyed reading them last night! They were fun to read! I was laughing so hard.
Last night was a good night to get on after not being on here for so long.
Andrea

P.S. Karen, are you still looking for me to post a poem for you and everyone else to enjoy? I was thinking how I haven’t put one up here yet, like we had talked about. If so, I’ll probably post it after finals, if that’s okay.

I really didn’t expect to win the book, I thought it was just fun to try to come up with something really quick off the top of my head! I really, really wish that Karen could send a copy of it to everyone that entered! I do promise you that the day after I receive it, I’ll take the day off work and read it and be thinking of all that participated in the contest.
Karen, I cannot say thank you enough different ways, not only for being a great author, but also for drawing my name!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Awesome, Andrea! We have a great place for that, too, so people can respond directly to you. You haven’t been here for a while, but check out the link above that says Forum! You’re going to love it! (Though you’ll have to register even if you’re registered here on the blog — it’s easy, though!)
Can’t wait to read it!

Aw. Brenda, you’re too nice! When I win something, I gloat. I usually call Julia London and gloat to her until she tells me to hang up and not call her back. Sometimes, i drive over to Suzanne Enoch’s house with my winnings and enjoy them on her front porch so she can see me from her breakfast window. Otherwise, i just gloat here. But I do gloat.
Brenda, I hope you enjoy the book! You’ll get it by Christmas! I hope you gloat at least a little!
Julia London on 07 Dec 2007 at 4:57 pm #
Oh my God, is she gloating again?

Congrats, Brenda! Enjoy that book. And I guess you can gloat about it to the rest of us!

Yes, Brenda, DO gloat! It is a most gloatworthy prize. BUT if you show up on MY doorstep you had better bring chocolate!!!
Brenda on 08 Dec 2007 at 7:26 am #
I can guarantee you that I’ll be gloating, the day after I read it!! I won’t give away too many details, just the facts that I have taken a day off from work just to sit and read it, possibly two or three times! Eyebrows will be raised at work when I take that day off, but this isn’t for sickness (like previously), this will be just for PURE GLUTTONY!! And doglady, there will be lots of chocolate involved!!!
Yes Julia, I do believe that Karen is gloating again, bless her heart!! Karen, if you don’t quit gloating to Julia, she may take away your pictures of Hugh Jackman!! There will be no eye-candy!! (ha ha)

NOOO! NOT THE HUGH JACKMAN PICTURES!
And here I going to ask Julia to graft me into a couple of Hugh pics for Christmas. Guess I need to stop gloating to her on the phone.
Thanks for th reality check, Brenda! I’m going to have to watch my behavior. It’s too close to Christmas to gloat!

To the tune of Joy to the World…
Joy to the world! the Goddesses have come;
Let us receive their gifts;
Let every bookshelf prepare some room,
and bloggers and authors sing,
and FRO’s and diet coke sing,
and cute boys, and Hugh and nature sing.
Joy to the earth! the Goddesses reign;
Let men their songs employ;
while stores and editors,
readers, writers and book-signings
Repeat the sarcastic joy,
Repeat the slap-dash joy,
Repeat, repeat the hilarious joy.
Goddesses rule the world with truth and grace,
and makes Mt. Oly prove
the glories of their pens,
and wonders of their talent,
and wonders of their laughter,
and wonders, wonders of Karen’s love of Hugh.
Will more than likely do some more….

Aw, Kimberly, that was MASTERFUL! Thank you! It’s in perfect meter, too. Now I’m going to be humming this all evening. Poor me!
