Charge!!!

My aunt and uncle traditionally hit the stores the morning after Thanksgiving. It’s the official beginning of their Christmas shopping season. From the bazillion ads I’ve been seeing on television, it’s opening day for a great many people. Some stores are advertising that they will be opening at 4 a.m. on Friday.

At 4 a.m. on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, I will be sleeping. I will be sleeping for another four or five hours after that, barring disaster. And then, as we have done for the past dozen years, my sister, mom, best friend, and I will be going to lunch (if we are able to eat again yet) and seeing a movie. Which one, we haven’t decided yet. I want to see Enchanted, but No Country for Old Men sleeping-woman.jpgand American Gangster have both gotten great reviews, too. Dad never goes, because there will be some sort of sporting event on television. And then I go home and start decorating the house for Christmas.

happy-shopper.gifAnyway, I digress. My main point is that I stay as far away from any organized shopping centers as possible. They scare me on the day after Thanksgiving. I just don’t like those big crowds, and I always imagine myself getting into a fight over the last blue sweater at Mervyn’s or something.

Do you have a tradition for the day after Thanksgiving? When do you begin your seasonal shopping? And if you are going shopping on Friday, which store are you going to hit first, and at what time? Tell the truth, now.shoppers.jpg

I agree with you.I don’t want the last blue sweater that much. My Chistmas shopping is kinda hit and grab,(run in,hit 1 or 2 stores, get what I want, and get out), if, I can’t find it mail order. I do like looking at the shopping centers decorations and all the parents with crying children, happy they aren’t mine anymore.

I don’t “do” malls at the best of times. (Is there one?) If I want something from inside, I hand a kid my debit/credit card and a list. Then, I park somewhere out of the way and read a book. Preferrably one of the latest by a goddess. I shop on-line for the most part. I also loath crowds. A line of 3 people is much too long. FYI, my granddaughter works at Calvin Klein, Tanger Outlets, Lancaster PA. They, and all the outlets, will open at midnight Thursday. She must work midnight-8am. Yikes.
So, 4am is for the shopper-come-latelys. I won’t be seeing you there. Trust me. Have a good time female bonding, Suzanne.

  3. Selfish Addict on 21 Nov 2007 at 1:50 am #

oh,Margaret. i do the same with a card and read too. A woman after my own heart. Next to reading in bed, what better time to read. Traffic on the road there or inside the mall, same difference to me. Knowing I can read is what gets me there. If, GASP,I have to go myself I read in line.

  4. Karen Rose on 21 Nov 2007 at 2:55 am #

Suzanne, I’m with you! Under the best of circumstances I’m a guerilla shopper. I run in, get the ONE thing I came for, then run out before the hysteria strikes. The mall scares me. Unfortunately I have a 13 year old who loves the mall and the Hollister store there in. I suppose if you like music played at 3 million DB, that’s a good store. Ack.

The day after T-giving - no way will you catch me near a store! We’ll sit around, then put up the tree , then argue about whether or not we’ll have the Santa pulled by alligators in the yard this year. I say yes, DH says no way.

I have not started shopping yet. DH is finished, curse him! And he’ll say things like, “I asked a lot of women about this present and they all said it’s great and that you’ll love it.” And I know I haven’t done that and I’ll end up getting the things he’s put on his list because I’m lousy at shopping.

Enjoy your movie! My oldest wants to see Enchanted, too, so maybe we’ll do that this weekend :-)

It has been a tradition since 1997 that I take Friday off from work to cover my mother’s job so that she and her two friends can go shopping. They always attend the craft fair.

  6. Judy F on 21 Nov 2007 at 5:36 am #

My sister and I used to go every year shopping on that day. We haven’t done that in years. We esp looked forward to when we were done, we would go eat out and the place must serve alcohol. lOL

Since I work part tme at the mall I will be working sat night with all the crazy people.

Myself I have one present bought. I have a ways to go…

  7. Stacy ~ on 21 Nov 2007 at 5:58 am #

Nope, I’ve never gone shopping on Black Friday. I am not only afraid to be crushed in the crowds, I love my sleep and have no wish to give that up, not even for a big screen tv or the earlybird freebies.

No real tradition other than it’s a day to sleep in. Sometimes I’ll go with friends to catch a movie, or something, but that’s about it.

  8. Aemelia on 21 Nov 2007 at 7:32 am #

my SIL drags me out every year…I mainly go only to keep her company, if I see a great deal, I may grab it, but I won’t fight over anything, nothing out there I want THAT much

  9. Michellynn on 21 Nov 2007 at 7:44 am #

I avoid the malls and shopping on Black Friday, like it is the Black Plague!! I have gone in the past and learned the hard way, that being trampled, shoved, and manhandled (to the point that I should be expecting a proposal from the manhandler..despite the fact that I am already married..LOL), is not worth the 10% discount I am going to get on that sparkling whozit for Cindy Lu Who.

So, now I do the majority of my Christmas shopping online. These days, you would be surprised just how many discounts you can get online and the amount of free shipping. The deals rival anything they can possibly offer at the malls. And don’t forget the coupon code websites that get you even more discounts (I personally love http://www.retailmenot.com) If I am forced to go to an actual brick and mortar store for something…I’ll do it during the week, in the morning (stealing away from work for a half hour or so)…in and out as quick as you please.

  10. Michellynn on 21 Nov 2007 at 7:47 am #

Our traditional Friday activity; putting up the Christmas lights, wreaths, garland and red ribbons outside, and decorating the inside (putting up the tree, garland on the banisters, etc.). And then….maybe some online shopping. :D

Have fun at your movie Suzanne…that sounds like a wonderful tradition. A wonderful time to relax and have fun with “the girls”.

  11. Emmiebee on 21 Nov 2007 at 7:53 am #

Nope- I am usually working on Black Friday. However, the rush somehow seems to pass my veterinary hospital by- no one is lined up at 4 AM to pick up heartworm preventative for the Holiday Season! Go figure. I mostly buy gifts online, make some of the others, and then leisurely browse the stores when I have a day off during the week. I love to sit in the Food Court and watch the serious shoppers storm by in gusts during their lunch hours.

My DH and I traditionally catch a movie on Thanksgiving, after the big meal. It gets us out of the house and stops the cycle of “It has been 10 minutes now, so I can eat ONE more bite”.

“Enchanted” looks really fun; I have been waiting for it to be released!

under no circumstances will you see me in a shopping mall/department store on black friday. i will be doing the following: sleeping, eating left over pie, convincing my 14 yr old cousin (and probably all the other women in the house) to see Enchanted with me, sleeping, eating, seeing friends, eating, did i mention sleeping and eating?

  13. Gannon on 21 Nov 2007 at 8:39 am #

I avoid the stores at all cost the day after Thanksgiving. There is NOTHING I need enough to brave those crowds! *shudder*

I do have a dear friend that is out and about by 6 a.m. on that day, every year. More power to her, as long as I’m not along for the ride!

  14. Ellen on 21 Nov 2007 at 9:00 am #

What do I do on the Friday after Thanksgiving?

    Nothing.

I shall wallow in a carbohydrate induced comma for a socially acceptable time, get up and showered… and then I have myself one of the best damn pajama days of the year.

Karen Hawkins “To Scotland With Love” will be joining me this year. Julia London’s “The Dangers of Deceiving a Viscount” was scheduled to join me too, but I made the mistake of peeking at the first page the other day. Needless to say, I couldn’t put the damn book down. I told my son to hide Karen’s book until Friday morning, or else it would just be me… in my PJs… with no place to go!

By the Bye…As a card carrying member of the Crazy Club, I gotta tell ya…I think ANYONE who shops on the busiest shopping day of the year is N.U.T.Z

  15. KariE on 21 Nov 2007 at 9:00 am #

There have been only 2 times that I have every went shopping on Black Friday. The first was 1997 when I had broke my leg a few weeks before and my best friend took me along with her so she could use my temp handicap tag so she could park up front. She was so subtle about it too. haha
Last year was the second time. I went with my MIL because she wanted to see “what the fuss was all about”. Oh she found out and vowed never to go out again. I, on the other hand, LOVED IT!! I wont do it every year, but if there are jeans that will be on sale at Old Navy, I will wait till Black Friday. (I have a rule that I will not spend more than $30 on a pair of jeans. This has increased from $20 from before I was married. So BF is the time to get them.)
Thanksgiving is just the calm before the storm. :)

  16. Ellen on 21 Nov 2007 at 9:04 am #

Besides…now I can regift Julia’s book to one of my sisters for Christmas, so that’s one less gift to buy. Mwaaaahaaaha

Does anyone know how to get a nacho cheese stain off a book cover?

  17. Julia London on 21 Nov 2007 at 9:06 am #

My mom has a pair of friends–sisters–who dress in identical festive T-shirts and are waiting at the door of Walmart when it opens. I kid you not — they are the crazy people who go to Walmart on Black Friday.

I do a lot of shopping online. But when it gets closer, I’ll take a Monday off (i.e., put on some real clothes and make-up) and hit the outlets. Mondays are fabulous shopping days!

Friday, the guys play golf, the girls get pedicure and lunch. Its very nice and indulgent.

  18. Julia London on 21 Nov 2007 at 9:08 am #

Ellen! I, for one, am very happy you stayed p.j.’d! But I think you should buy your sister a nice shiny new copy of the book for Christmas (wink wink). Regift Karen’s. >:-)

  19. Lisa H on 21 Nov 2007 at 9:08 am #

Ellen I am one of those NUTZ people. I am proud to admit it. I love the deals, I love the excitement, I love Christmas, and for me it is like a major hunt-a-thon. (I may have a bit of testosterone in me) My only requirement is that I do NOT bring along any children. I will be the only one whining on Black Friday. I have found many good deals in the past and always enjoy looking for more. This year my husband may have to work, so I might not be able to go. But if I can, I will!

  20. Sabrina Jeffries on 21 Nov 2007 at 9:26 am #

If I’m with family, we usually hit the malls, because my sister-in-law and brother love to shop, and all our kids need entertainment after a day cooped up with the old folks. :-) There’s nothing my 19-year-old loves more than a busy mall the day after Thanksgiving. I’m serious. In that respect, he’s not the most typical autistic teen. He just loves the hustle and bustle. My dh, however, loathes it. I’m … ambivalent. I’d just as soon wait for a day without crowds, but if I’m going with family, I find it fun.

I asked my brother what we might be doing on the day after Turkeyday (as hubby calls it), and he said he wasn’t sure. So there’s no telling. We might go sky-diving. :-) Yeah, right, like THAT would happen.

The day *I* always hit the stores is the day after Christmas. Hey, I’ve gotta stop up on holiday decorations cheap for the next year!

  21. doglady on 21 Nov 2007 at 9:26 am #

I will be hiding in the bakery at Wal-Mart while every redneck in the tri-county area assaults the store like the invading Huns. The grocery side of the store doesn’t get much business on Black Friday, thank GOD!! Now TODAY it will be HELL! I also have to work 7 AM to Noon tomorrow. SUCKS!! Tomorrow afternoon I will take a break to watch AMAZING GRACE on DVD. Bought it when it came out and haven’t had a chance to watch it yet. I won’t put up my tree until I get my Golden Heart entry in the mail!

  22. Meg on 21 Nov 2007 at 9:29 am #

I guess I am NUTS too. I look forward to going shopping early Friday morning. Not too early; I don’t plan to get up until around 6am. And there are stores that I avoid as well. No Way will I go anywhere near WalMart. No No No. I don’t know about anywhere else in the world, but around here WalMart is the worst place to go. There is always a fight of some kind and the cops ALWAYS show up. I think that is kind of funny-but I still avoid it. After shopping and a good lunch (out of the house) I like to put my Christmas tree and get it all decorated while jamming to some of my favorite Christmas music.

  23. Cookiedough on 21 Nov 2007 at 9:58 am #

Since I’m Canadian, we don’t have a traditional hit the store frenzy saleday after Thankgiving. My family’s is Dec 27th, when my sister comes into town with gift certificates to share and cash to spend. 7 or 8 hrs at the mall…
I like to Christmas shop all year. I don’t mind the mall, but hate it when it is too full. I get cranky at all the people, and zone out.
This year I am poor and unemployed, so home made cookies and coffee cup cozies are what I am making for everyone.

  24. Freshechelle on 21 Nov 2007 at 10:02 am #

I’ll be working in a mall on Friday, just haven’t decided which one. I’ve got a corporate gig for a retailer but it’s my day (and season) to get in the trenches with the troops. Fortuantely, my brand never goes on sale so our crowds are relatively sane on Black Friday.

Black Friday has been surpassed by the Saturday before Christmas as the busiest day of the year so if you feel like hitting the mall on this Friday, do so around dinner time (if you aren’t looking for bargains.)

Now begins the season of selling something on Saturday and taking it back on Sunday from the same customer. Why can’t people keep their gifts a suprise? Holiday presents, engagement rings and in utero baby gender should always be a surpise. The only day retailers should get returns before Christmas is after the first night of Hanukah. Thanks for allowing me this rant. Happy Thanksgiving goddesses.

  25. Dev on 21 Nov 2007 at 10:11 am #

I do not ever leave my house the day after Thanksgiving. No, thank you! Although I do have several friends who enjoy Black Friday, it is definitely not my thing.

I’m actually pretty much done with my shopping now. I just need to pick up something for my brother-in-law and my mom’s boyfriend. I will more than likely be doing amazon.com.

  26. twolilhahas on 21 Nov 2007 at 10:27 am #

No Black Friday for me. Tried it once a couple years ago. I went a little late, like half hour late, probably around 6:30am. They had no more anything at Wal-Mart. So, I’m not ever going again. Wal-Mart is the only store we have in our little town, and everyone goes there, so it’s just not happening again. :)

  27. Mia Rose on 21 Nov 2007 at 10:55 am #

The first, and LAST, time I was ever near a mall the day after Thanksgiving was when I had my first job at 17 at Wet Seal and had to work that day.
    I was traumatized. Literally.
People are crazy on that day! I think I spent an entire work shift at a table of jeans just going behind people and re-folding over and over again, and you could barely breathe it was so crowded. Ever since that horrible day, you can not catch me anywhere near *any* place that is going to be crowded full of people. I despise crowds and avoid them like the plague! I ADORE online shopping.
We don’t really have a tradition yet, the boys usually golf or sit around watching sports on TV… the girls lounge around (at least I do), watch some sports with the guys, gossip, maybe go see a movie (yes, like everyone else on here I am dying to see Enchanted!)…
Sadly this year, at some point Friday afternoon I have to drive home by myself so I can get back to our dogs.
    :D

  28. RachelG on 21 Nov 2007 at 11:26 am #

I don’t like crowds or lines, so I’ve never shopped on black Friday.

  29. Suzanne Enoch on 21 Nov 2007 at 11:41 am #

Aemelia, LisaH, Meg — so far you are the Bravehearts. And Sabrina — is it more fun when you’re only there to see the hustle and bustle, rather than find all the bargains?*g*

I’m glad to see there are other slugs out there besides me. Black Friday is the day I can officially start listening to Christmas music, too. My mom made that rule about mmmpphhh years ago to keep my sisters from starting up on the albums in July.

  30. Lisa H on 21 Nov 2007 at 11:45 am #

Suzanne, will we be treated to a picture of your giraffe in his santa hat? I’m hoping… or if not, maybe one of the FROs guys in just a santa hat. TEE HEE

  31. zambonigirl on 21 Nov 2007 at 11:51 am #

I’m totally with you. I don’t do the shopping thing. I can barely make it out of bed to go to work, and I get paid to go to work. Why would I pay money to get out of bed early? LOL. I feel like I’m on crazy pills!

  32. Ladytink_534 on 21 Nov 2007 at 12:02 pm #

For the past few years I’ve been an After Thanksgiving Shopper and I love it! I always have a blast and I have yet to see anyone fighting over anything :)

  33. Suzanne Enoch on 21 Nov 2007 at 12:22 pm #

Okay, I just saw another commercial, and the shopper jumped out of bed and put on her 3-inch heels and ran out the door. Who the frick shops in high heels? Especially at 4 a.m.?

  34. anneriailin on 21 Nov 2007 at 12:27 pm #

I don’t intentionally shop on Black Friday, but sometimes do find myself out and in the stores. NOT before dawn though! It is usually in the evening when all the others are home and passed out on the couch.

To be honest, some of the best deals I’ve gotten have been on Christmas Eve just before the stores are getting ready to close. My kids and I usually go out to the mall on Christmas Eve just to see how many other nuts like us are out and about.

I think ‘Enchanted’ is going to be our Thanksgiving movie this year. It looks so cute.

    –dorothy

  35. Lisa H on 21 Nov 2007 at 12:30 pm #

Enchanted and Mr. Magoriams Emporium both got good reviews. I hope to take my kids to see them both before Christmas.

  36. SuzyQ on 21 Nov 2007 at 12:52 pm #

I never EVER go out on Black Friday. My husband went last year at 4:00 AM to WalMart to get an LCD TV. Turned out they only had 5 of them in the store. He managed to get one, but almost got into a fight when someone tried to take it out of his hand. I told him he was nuts and he agreed - never again. I for one enjoy sleeping in late and then spend the rest of the day decorating the house for Christmas.

As for my shopping, well I tend to do better under pressure. One year I did most my shopping on Christmas Eve and was up til 4:00 AM wrapping. I learned my lesson. Now I get all my shopping done the week before. I find going out to the stores at 9:00 PM works good for me. Most of the crowds have gone home and I get a couple hours in each night. What doesn’t get bought in the store gets done online.

BTW, I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  37. cail on 21 Nov 2007 at 1:17 pm #

Suzanne, that commercial is for Kohls. I have many issues with it, not to mention the talking dog, the woman waking up in beautiful make up and bounding out to shop in high fashion clothes and giant heals.

I’ve vowed to never shop there. Ever. I call that bad advertizing.

  38. zambonigirl on 21 Nov 2007 at 1:18 pm #

High heels for shopping? Uh…yeah. No. Bed. In fact, I’m ready to just go to bed now, if my boss would just let me go.

I think my friends and I are trying to get a group together to see “Bella” tonight. I think it’s supposed to be a really good movie.

  39. Claudia Dain on 21 Nov 2007 at 1:18 pm #

Nope, never, not happening. On Black Friday we stay home and put up the Christmas decorations. It’s so relaxing! All that leftover food, Bing crooning at us from the CD player (the one I know how to use).

Let me tell you the BEST time to shop for Christmas, when absolutely everything is on sale—from 3PM to close on Christmas Eve. They’ve marked everything down for the day after Christmas sales, everyone is busy getting ready for Christmas company, and you can slide in and get the best bargains, particularly on Christmas themed things and winter wear. Don’t forget, the cruise wear is already sitting in the stock room, waiting to hit the racks. *G* If you want a cashmere sweater, late Christmas Eve is the time to snag one.

  40. Karen H in NC on 21 Nov 2007 at 1:21 pm #

I haven’t done the ‘Black Friday Shopping Trip’ for several years now,,,not since my 31 year old son stopped believing in Santa. Since then, I have been able to sleep in and let the rest of the good people face the crush.

The last time I got caught in that crush was a foolish mistake on my part. I had just moved here from MI and needed new tires on my car. Never thinking about what day it was and the huge number of people at the malls, I got out my trusty city map and found my way to the city’s largest mall where I could find a Sears store with auto department. Good Grief, what a friggin’ mess. Never again, trust me!

I do admit to doing a little on-line shopping on that day. Got some good bargains there too and a lot easier on the sanity. But, gee-whiz….I’m done already and have been for a few weeks!

  41. Suzanne Enoch on 21 Nov 2007 at 1:37 pm #

But Cail, Kohl’s (despite the stupid commercials) does have good prices. I’m talking the rest of the year. As for Friday, I have no clue.

And Karen H in NC, I hate you. Already finished shopping?

Lisa H, I may just have to post a pic of Gerald the Giraffe in holiday regalia. *g*

  42. Ann in IL on 21 Nov 2007 at 3:04 pm #

I sure do wish all you “stay - at - home” people lived in my city then maybe I wouldn’t have to get up at 1:30 to be at work IN THE MALL by 3am to pass out those razzlefratzen snowglobes. I think they should get their free snowglobe AFTER they have made a purchase. You wouldn’t believe the stories I hear as to why they need more than one free item!!!!!!! And they RUN in to the store like we were giving away $1000.00 bills. People, people, people………stay home……….PLEASE. Maybe then I can have Black Friday off and relax.

  43. KariE on 21 Nov 2007 at 4:08 pm #

Haha Ann in IL. That’s kindda like asking water to run upstream.
Is razzlefratzen a real word? Cause I like it! (maybe its an “up north” thing)

  44. Meg on 21 Nov 2007 at 4:15 pm #

Hey, I just picked up my annual bonus from work and am ready to go! :-) Although, like I said before, it won’t be before daylight. I don’t need anyhting that bad. Actually, I am not going out to buy anything that I have seen advertised on TV. What I’ll be shopping for are a few small decorations and maybe a few small presents. Nothing big. What I like is being out of the house after being crammed together with so much family. And hey, I like shop.

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!!

  45. Cookiedough on 21 Nov 2007 at 4:52 pm #

  46. Ann in IL on 21 Nov 2007 at 5:20 pm #

    KariE,
Razzlefratzen is a word I made up to express my pent up frustration in a socially acceptable way. Extreme frustration is razzlefratzenbatzenbutt.

  47. Ann in IL on 21 Nov 2007 at 5:49 pm #

When do I shop? ALL year. I keep a notebook with ideas and check them off as I buy things. My great buys this year are sweatshirts and sweatpants. In May we had them marked down to $2.97 and with my discounts they were 1.50 each. So guess what most of the adults are getting? Can’t beat a sweatsuit for $3.00. I also scored some Dockers mens travel kits originally $30.00 for $3.00. I have six brothers and lots of nephews. Guess what they are getting. Kids and babies are soooo easy I have to make myself stop. I buy for all 35 in my immediate family.

My friends and I stopped trying to buy for eachother. What I do is knit scarves all year then give each a bunch of scarves to donate to the charity of their choice.

  48. Karen Rose on 21 Nov 2007 at 6:08 pm #

Cookiedough - when we have houseguests on Thanksgiving, we decorate for Christmas before they arrive. Most years I have to nag my husband to take down the decorations by MLKing or they’d be up until Valentine’s Day. This year it’s just us for Thanksgiving, so we’ll start decorating on Friday.

  49. KariE on 21 Nov 2007 at 6:34 pm #

Cookiedough - We ALWAYS decorate on Friday after Thanksgiving. It is our tradition. Last weekend I helped my girlfriend set up her tree and decorate. We (including the kids) had a blast. It’s never too early. Although keeping them up past February is a bit excessive. haha

  50. Meg on 21 Nov 2007 at 7:24 pm #

I love decorating the day after Thanksgiving. It’s also the day I start with my Christmas music. It’s my favorite time of the year. As far back as I can remember my family has always done it that way. And the tree doesn’t come down until after New Year’s. I am not sure why. It was just the way it was done when I was a kid, so it’s the way I do it now.

  51. ladydawgfan on 21 Nov 2007 at 8:01 pm #

Okay, I admit to being a *bit* intimidated by all of you who vow never to set foot into a store on Black Friday. I actually look forward to this day!! I get the day off of work, my sister does the same, and we usually make our battle plans before the turkey hits the dinner table on Thanksgiving. Then, after we eat and all is cleaned up, it’s time for a little rest (she stays at my house) and then we are off to our first stop, timed to arrive between 1 and 2 in the morning.

This is the day I do most of my Christmas shopping, the bargains are the best, and believe it or not, people are fun to watch. The Christmas music isn’t old yet, holiday spirit fills the air, and the excitement of the season is in the eyes of child and adult alike.

Call me crazy (or NUTZ, if you will ;) ), but I absolutely LOVE shopping on Black Friday!!!

  52. dbrown3400 on 21 Nov 2007 at 9:01 pm #

I don’t do crowds well so Black Friday has always been out for me. Like Gannon there is nothing I want that much. I do all my shopping online because I can drop ship my daughter’s presents to FL and give my other daughter’s presents to her on Christmas day here. Gone are the days when I have dozens of people to shop for as most are spread across the country and we don’t exchange gifts. I’m the oldest of the remaining brothers and sisters and there are too many cousins, nieces and nephews to count.

My daughter and her best friend are leaving at 4:30 Friday AM. I wasn’t invited. Tee Hee.

I for one like only Macy’s and Disney store. So those are the only 2 stores I go to. I arrive at the mall at 8 in the morning. My sister tries to persuade me every year to go earlier but I simply cant do it.

I LOVE Black Friday. I savor things more when I have had to fight for them. Yeah that probably makes me a freak but no point in denying who you are :) However I am selfish. i only buy myself things on Black Friday. If I am going to be at the stores at 3:00am it’s going to be for ME.

After working years in retail at Christmas, I REFUSE to go shopping on Black Friday on those rare occasions when I actually have it off. I would much rather sleep in and stay far away from the stores on that day. People are absolutely crazy. My mom also works retail and she has seen some really crazy things. One year, her store had to call the cops because there where all these fights breaking out over a DVD or video game console or something. Nuts, I tell you.
