Good Wishes

Nicole JordanGoddess Readers Speak Out
Usually at Thanksgiving we’re supposed to reflect on the things we’re thankful for. This year I’d like to change it up by contemplating the things we wish for. Not the things we want for ourselves – that would be too selfish and violate the spirit of the holiday! No, I want to focus on the things we wish for others.
To start off… Here’s wishing you a lovely Thanksgiving holiday, fellow Goddesses!
I would also like to wish my dh a big snowstorm soon so he can be happy skiing. And to my new horse who came from
Florida, I wish a warm winter so she can acclimate to the Utah cold. And to my family members who are in dangerous areas of the world (and to those who are here in the U.S.) I wish safety and the chance to make good memories. And to several of my dear friends, I wish their lives would settle down so they aren’t so frazzled!
So what would you like to wish your friends and loved ones (or not so loved ones) this Thanksgiving?

I would like all my friends and family to know how much they mean to me, how I’ve learned from them, laughed with them, and wish them every happiness.
I would also like to send my thoughts and prayers to the soldiers out there - without them, this world would not be as safe as it is, and I thank them for their sacrifice, for missing their holidays with family. They have my utmost respect.

I would like to send all of those servicemen and women my love and prayers. As the wife of a veteran, I know the sacrifices that they are making for all of us. They are all true heroes, as are their families!
I would wish for my family and friends that they find joy in the little things, to persevere in times of strife, and to know that there are always people who love and believe in them, no matter what.
I wish my new dog would learn that my cats are not the enemy!
And a heartfelt wish to all of the Goddesses for a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving with those you love!

My wish is for several of my friends in difficult marraiges. I wish their problems could be resolved and the magic of their first love be returned to them.
I wish for my children and all children to be safe from evil, whether it be people, drugs, guns, etc.
I wish we could all always think of others’ feelings first, before we speak or act, treating others with kindness and compassion.
And finally, for all of us unpublished authors, I wish we would all get huge publishing contracts!

I have many wishes. One is for my best friend, who is a single mother living on a single mothers income, to win the lotto. It wouldn’t guarantee her love and companionship that I know she wants, but it would give her some stability and relief from stress that she has been living with for far too long. (and maybe a singles cruise)
For my family, I wish for the drama llama to stay away. One day we can be happy and cheerful with no bickering.
For that certain someone, I wish for you to get everything you give out. Ten-fold.
Last but not least, to our servicemen and women I pray for your safety and strength. With out you we wouldn’t have what we have. I wish for your speedy return home.
KariE on 20 Nov 2007 at 9:06 am #
I totally forgot one,
For my dog Eli, I wish for your flatus to not smell. This may be a little selfish on my part but it stinks. BAD. Very bad. For the sake of the family I wish for this.

My brother-in-law and his wife have two daughters and the youngest one (who is only 3 months old) is srtuggling with some form of ailment that as of yet cannot be identified. I would wish them answers that would that would relieve their minds and and wish their little girl a speedy recovery with no surgery in the near future. Or the far future for that matter.
I would also like to with all the Goddesses #1 bestsellers in 2008!
Sabrina Jeffries on 20 Nov 2007 at 9:47 am #
For my unpublished friends and fellow goddesses–a publishing contract!
For my published friends and fellow goddesses–a year of great success.
For Claudia’s husband–the ability to use the cc properly so as not to frighten my dear friend Claudia
For my family–some respite from the constant drama (okay, this one really is selfish, but I can’t help it!)
For our goddess readers–lots of great reads and lots of happiness.
And for our soldiers–the chance to come home at last!

For all the Goddesses and their cohorts here to have a blessed Thanksgiving and a magical holiday season followed by a successful new year.
For all of our servicemen and women to be safe and to come home soon. May God hold them always in the palm of his hand.
For their families who miss them so much, the strength to carry on and the resources to be well, physically, mentally and spiritually.
For all the homeless pets out there to find wonderful loving homes where they will be spayed and neutered.
For all of my aspiring author friends to get THE CALL followed by a terrific contract.
For crack, crystal meth and all of the other crippling, enslaving drugs to disappear from the earth. It would solve so many problems!!

Those are such lovely wishes, y’all! You goddesses are just such nice people.
Gannon and KariE, I laughed at your wishes for your dogs. I don’t know how to train a dog to live in harmony with cats unless it’s just time to become familiar. But I’m wondering if a vet could suggest a change in diet for the smelly problem.
And LisaH, I’ll wish the same for you about the huge publishing contract!
Claudia Dain on 20 Nov 2007 at 11:11 am #
Because I am selfless, I too wish for Claudia’s husband to learn how to properly manage the cruise control. It’s all about others with me.
For all writers everywhere, no matter where you are on the publishing conveyor belt, a great contract and a million fans!
For our troops, safety and honor and a salute of profound gratitude.
For a lovely Thanksgiving holiday for each one of us, a day of laughter and harmony.

i wish for all of us a safe and happy holiday with those we love best, and good times for those who are far away but close in our hearts.
i wish for a decrease in crazy holiday stories from this season, but not a dull moment.
i wish for warm beds and full stomachs for America’s underpriviledged residents.
Julia London on 20 Nov 2007 at 12:02 pm #
I wish every goddess has a safe journey this holiday season, doesn’t eat so much she is sick, and laughs a lot.
I wish my nephew — who is JUST home from Iraq this past week — has the best Thanksgiving of all! Welcome home, Matt!
zambonigirl on 20 Nov 2007 at 12:36 pm #
I wish that every goddess will suddenly be blessed with a metabolism that causes them to lose weight from eating their Thanksgiving dinners.
I wish that I lived closer to Brozo, Wife Of and DaNiece.
I wish the Ducks would start doing better and get the Stanley Cup again, but barring that, I’ll take a kiss from Rob Niedermayer.
I wish that every family has a wonderful homecoming like Julia is getting with her Nephew.
I wish that people would stop buying their children pets as presents, and stop abusing animals all together.
I wish that everyone’s wishes come true.
Ronlyn on 20 Nov 2007 at 12:56 pm #
my dearest wish just came true a couple days ago when my friend’s DH, who had been in Iraq these past 15 months, made it home safe and sound.
Ann in IL on 20 Nov 2007 at 2:34 pm #
My wish for the world in general is for a PERMANENT end to all malicious gossip. The damage it does can never be repaired.
My personal wish would be for lots and lots and lots of snow. I love winter.
Happy and safe holiday to all who are traveling.
My heartfelt thanks to all the Goddesses and the rest of the authors who have made the past year so enjoyable. The escape those books provide are beyond price.

Sorry I’ve been missing all day — massive computer problems! Spent all day on the phone with Microsoft.
Anyway, just wanted to say those are more lovely wishes. I’ll second all of those… except for maybe the Ducks winning, Zambo, since I don’ follow hockey at all. *grin* But for your sake, I’ll send some good wishes your way.
Nicole Jordan on 20 Nov 2007 at 4:19 pm #
Julian, I’m so glad your newphew made it home safely! And Ronlyn, that your friend’s dh made it too.
My bro is in Albania and his new wife and baby are in Tblisi, Soviet Georgia, where they just declared emergency rule. But compared to being in actual combat, which my bro and dad did many times, my family is relatively safe.
RachelG on 20 Nov 2007 at 4:51 pm #
My nephew is headed back to Iraq, and he told me after his last tour that the biggest problem was boredom. So I wish him lots and lots of boredom.

I wish all those away from home, esp those in dangerous situations stay safe.
May all the goddesses have a wonderful thanksgiving.
I wish my great niece have a wonderful first thanksgiving…
I wish good health to all my friends and family.
To my cat Sammy I wish he would realize I like to sleep in on days off and the weekend.

I will wish that at Thanksgiving my uncle doesn’t tell the same story about the turkey/pineapple incident that he’s told every year for the past 22 years. *g*
Mia Rose on 20 Nov 2007 at 6:19 pm #
awww, how sweet…
I wish for my new little nephew health and happiness for his first holidays…
I wish for mum-mum, who passed the same day my nephew was born, everlasting peace…
I wish for safety and happiness for EVERYONE both here and overseas…
I wish for everyone to have days and days full of laughter and love…
I wish for everyone who has either personal or professional deadlines looming, the strength of focus and a determined muse…
And last, but certainly not least, I wish for lots and lots of wine (or cider for those who prefer it, spiked or not…)for everyone who needs it around these hectic holidays with family…
Nicole Jordan on 20 Nov 2007 at 6:24 pm #
>>>And last, but certainly not least, I wish for lots and lots of wine
Love this, Mia! I’ll second this!
Judy, cats and dogs just have their own points of view, lol.
Rachel, I wish your nephew lots and LOTS of boredom, too!
And Suzanne, I would love to hear the turkey pineapple story, but I’ll bet you’re too sick of it. *G*

My Daddy passed away Nov.2nd,Happy Thanksgiving in Heaven.
(That’s why I haven’t been around for awhile.)
For my family strenghth to get through this difficult time without him,and to move forward, even though it hurts.
For everyone to realize how much we really mean to each other all the time and not just at times like this when it is thrown at us.
For my four-legged,three woman wrecking crew, you have your fenced in backyard finally,TAKE IT OUTSIDE,this includes pottying also.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!!!!

Oh, Shelfish… I’m so very sorry about your dad. I hoped so much that he would get better, especially since I know all the rough times you and your family have been through since Katrina. Major hugs to you.
But I’m glad the pooches have a fenced in back yard now!
Selfish Addict on 20 Nov 2007 at 8:12 pm #
Thaks Nicole. He was on the transplant list but, after 75 yrs.with no heart problems, they happened so off the list. He won’t see the house finished but,he was home with us peaceful and pain free. For that We will always be thankful.
Sabrina Jeffries on 20 Nov 2007 at 9:01 pm #
Aww, Selfish Addict, sorry to hear about your dad. You have my deepest sympathies. My grandfather died at Thanksgiving, and I remember how hard that was, so I can only imagine how hard it must be to lose a parent at a holiday. Hope y’all have a good day remembering him together. And I too hope your beasts learn to potty outside!
Santa on 20 Nov 2007 at 10:20 pm #
Selfish, my heart goes out to you. I lost my dad over Easter twelve years ago and even though I was in my thirties when he passed, I wasn’t done with him yet!
I was and am ever thankful for all the wonderful people who were there for me and my family throughout the whole experience. It’s those family and friends (near, far and cyber) who bring so much to our lives.
Selfish Addict on 21 Nov 2007 at 12:16 am #
Thanks everyone,we will be with family and remember him well.Santa,I’m …umm..48 and I wasn’t done yet. Don’t think we ever are.
Thepoodles are catching on the potty wise. The doxie wanders around, sniffing, totally clueless as to why she is outside, except pure pleasure. She make take a wish from Santa.
doglady on 21 Nov 2007 at 12:19 am #
My deepest condolences, Selfish Addict. I lost my Dad ten years ago and we really miss him around the holidays because he loved them so much. It is hard for a Daddy’s Girl like me to get along without him.
So glad to hear about your fenced in yard though! I know the wrecking crew is loving it! So many owners around here let their dogs run loose and they end up getting hit by cars. Had the neighbor kids ask me if they could bring one to my place to bury. Somebody hit him up on the main road. The kid whose dog it was was upset because his father told him to just leave the dog on the side of the road to rot. My neighbors’ kids know I have a place on my five acres for cases like this so they brought him to me and we had a little funeral for him. Pet ownership is a privilege and a commitment from beginning to end and some people just don’t get it. A fenced in yard is a must for pet owners as far as I am concerned. I know you are relieved to have yours, Selfish Addict!!
Selfish Addict on 21 Nov 2007 at 12:41 am #
That’s why at a year old we are only pad trained and not yard trained. I don’t understand, if you love them why let them wander risking all sorts of things, cats too. I had only one dog runaway,he survived the ordeal in better shape than I did, but,I was leaving him to board at the vet’s and when someone open the door,he hit the door. Another goofy doxie, how he lived to be 14,I’ll never know.
I would like to add another wish….for all children in any harm’s way,a way out,and a reason to be thankful.
The Goddesses,I hope you stuff until stuffed turkey is a wuss, enough sweets to put sugar to shame, enough family to make you wonder where they all came from, enough wine to make you not care about any of the above. I then.wish you bright eyed and bushy tailed, writing for me. Sorry the selfish came out,uh…. not really. You can break again for Christmas.
TinaLouiseF on 21 Nov 2007 at 3:44 am #
Since my mother was diagnosed with non curable cancer last month, I wish her a pain free holiday and hope she will still be here for Christmas and the New Year.
