Here at For Refreshment Only Sundays (FROS) on Mt. Oly, we all love a man who is willing to stand ah, firm on his principles. A man like Robin Hood, for example.
Of all the men in tights, except one, Robin Hood is a favorite.
For one thing, there are so many shapes and sizes of RH. There’s the vintage Flynn RH and the Disney animated RH. There’s Sean Connery as RH and many, many more. Over the years, RH has been portrayed every way you can imagine.

I love Robin Hood! I actually just bought the movie off of Amazon. Kevin Costner and Alan Rickman are awesome in that movie!

Lisa H: the man in that first picture is Michael Praed. He’s shown, along with Judi Trott, in his role as Robin Hood from the 1980s series “Robin of Sherwood.” It was an EXCELLENT TV series that ran through the mid 1980s. Yes, he was very hot as Robin Hood.

Sabrina was talking about favorite story lines yesterday and I think this is one of my favorites. Robin Hood is just SO romantic — all downtrodden and fighting for justice against the Evil Empire. Add to it leather and tights stretched over a muscular bod and I’m THERE!
Btw, I am an Alan Rickman fan so I had to throw his pic in there. For me, he was MUCH sexier than Costner who doesn’t really flip my switch. The story and scenery were great, but I couldn’t help but wish they’d chosen another leading man.

Hmmm, Praed is quite lovely to look at, isn’t he? The Robin Hood stories have always been some of my favorites. Lets not forget the Robin Hood send-up MEN IN TIGHTS. Cary Elwes does not look too shabby in tights either. Oh and Karen I am in complete agreement. Costner just doesn’t do a thing for me, but I really LOVE Alan Rickman. Anything he does is just wonderful! I am off to Sherwood to see if I can get a handsome hunk to rescue me!

I watch Robin Hood for two things; the music of bryan adams–love him! and the most perfect villain of them all, Alan Rickman as the sheriff. I laugh and lust after every brilliant line he has in that movie! (Waving to doglady :))

My favorite RH is still Errol Flynn. So dashing! And Olivia deHavilland - I love her in almost any movie she’s ever been in. She was the perfect Maid Marion, IMVHO.

Well, I think Robin Hood #1 is so beautiful, I wonder if he is still acting today. I never saw those TV shows, I was in High School, dating, working and playing sports, I never watched TV in the 80’s.
I do think Alan Rickman is nice looking, but I did love Kevin Costner back in that movie. (Before he put on a few pounds, and lost a more than a few hairs) And yes, that Brian Adams song was so romantic! I have him singing that song on a CD with Luciano Pavoratti, they sang several duets together and sounded heavenly.

I just googled Michael Praed - he is quite an actor. Apparently he can sing and dance as he has starred in many Broadway productions.

I can’t help but think of the Romeo from yesterday’s picture! I loved him. Leonard Whiting was so hot in that movie. He’s totally not hot now, though…so that kinda kills the fantasy. lol

Twolil, he WAS hot but I haven’t seen him nowadays. Guess I shouldn’t google up a pic, hm? I hate those Destroy the Fantasy moments.
Jessie, I was gonna do Cary — he was SO funny in that movie and just To Die For in Princess Bride, but I had to keep my picture quotient down. Still, he’s worth doing one all on his own! We’ll have an Elwesathong one day soon.

I have a thing for Richard Armitage - the guy in the third picture - but he’s playing Guy of Gisbourne, not Robin Hood. Though RH is quite sexy in the BBC series as well…

I agree about Michael Praed. He’s my favorite Robin Hood - a truly tortured hero who loved his Lady Marian and had his rag-tag not so merry men. Hard to believe that was over 20 years ago…

I think my fav is Carey Elwes and then its the young man that played him in the recent BBC incarnation. Though Guy of Gisbourne (in the third pic) is definately worth a second look. I used to love Praed in ‘The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne’ and I dislike Kevin Costner so I never saw his version.

Ooops! Got my men in tights mixed up. Sorry. I googled Robin Hood and Armitage came up more than any other RH, INCLUDING Flynn, who immortalized the part. So . . . I just figured he was it. Sorry!!!

BTW, I have a photo of a “pirate” in tights who would make even the boldest amongst us blush like a schoolgirl. He wasn’t wearing anything under his tights, and he really should have been. I mean, he REALLY should have been, if you catch my drift. Nothing at all left to the imagination in those tights, that’s all I’m sayin’!!!

But what about the true “Man In Tights,” Carey Elwes? Unlike some other Robin Hoods, he is able to speak with an English accent. And he was dear, sweet Westley!
I know. I’m never satisfied. There are so many men, and so little time! Thanks so much for these refreshment-only Sundays. I wish I could enumerate the really hot guides that I had last week while I was in Kauai, but I don’t think that any of you would believe me.

I love Robin Hood in all his incarnations! Kevin Costner is right up there. I loved Morgan Freeman in that version as well. And Alan Rickman just has to stand in a corner and I’d swoon.
I loved ‘Men in Tights’! Too bad Errol Flynn isn’t up there with that naughty grin of his. Besides, what’s not to love about Robin Hood in Technicolor!
