FROS: The Cure for Jock Itch.

FOR REFRESHMENT ONLY SUNDAY:

Here on Mt. Olympus, we love athletes and have for centuries. We have proof, too. Look at this Roman copy of a bronze original from the 5th century BC, from Hadrian’s Villa in Tivoli, Lazio, Italy.

discus.jpg

Over the centuries a lot of things have changed — fashion, for one — but not our love of all things athletic. For instance, today we have hard-bodied David Beckham:

leytonstone492_1.jpg

Also Lance Armstrong, known among the WLB (We Like Bikers) Olympians as He Who Has To-Die-For Thighs:

Oh, and let’s not forget the tougher, rugged types such as sexy, never-say-quit Brett Favre:

brett-favre-jersey.jpg

And last, but not least, the undeniably sexy Andy Pettitte, the sexiest pitcher to hit the big leagues:

So tell us, oh lustrous Goddesses, are there any athletes who cure your Jock Itch?

Brendan Shanahan and Scott Stevens in street clothes or less.

  3. Aemelia on 07 Oct 2007 at 6:30 am #

mmm Brendan Shanahan, Stevie Yzerman, Brett Favre!!!

  4. Karen Hawkins on 07 Oct 2007 at 7:12 am #

I almost put Derek J in the lineup but fell for the pic of Andy P and his Look of Intensity.

Ok, I gotta go and see Shanahan. I’ll be back after I ah, study his er, potential.

Oh my, yes! Cowboys in tight jeans and chaps. Currently, Justin McBride 2005 World Champion bullrider in the Professional Bullriders is about the cutest thing going. He has that aw shucks demeanor but oozes self-confidence. Sexy.

Another thing that makes him irresistable is the fact that he took several months off in 2006 to be with his wife before and after she gave birth to their first child. In the rodeo world, if you don’t ride, you don’t get paid. If he hadn’t won my heart before, that sure did the trick.

  6. Judy F on 07 Oct 2007 at 7:55 am #

    OH I love Brett Farve.

Lets see tops on my list is T.J. Houshmandzadeh (Bengals WR), Andy Roddick, Tom Brady.

I am sure there are more.

  7. Karen Hawkins on 07 Oct 2007 at 8:18 am #

Ok, gotta check out McBride, too. He sounds YUMMY.

i can see I’m not going to be any writing done today, but I will be oh-so-inspired tomorrow! :)

And Judy, Brett Favre just does something for me. I love how he laughs when he plays and really enjoys himself on the field. He’s AWESOME and, because of him, I’m a huge Packers fan though I’ve only been to Wisconsin once.

Speaking of which, gotta go and set the TIVO to record the game today. GO, FAVRE! I mean GO, GREENBAY!

  8. Cookiedough on 07 Oct 2007 at 8:25 am #

did I miss out on something growing up? I don’t think I ever drooled over a sports guy- other than my brother’s basketball star friend in high school. Ken Morais, he of the lightest blues eyes I’ve ever seen.sigh
Ok, now i’m going to have to look these other guys up, because, seriously, Beckham just doesn’t do it for me!

  9. Judy F on 07 Oct 2007 at 10:12 am #

Karen my bil says I only like Green Bay because of Brett. Now tell me what is wrong with that. LOL

My niece and I share T.J. he besides being an awesome player, he is easy on the eyes. And he seems to have a good head on his shoulders, you don’t hear bad press about him.

  10. Kasey on 07 Oct 2007 at 10:45 am #

Sorry I can’t like Brett - it is sacreligious since I am a Vikings Fan. I am also a huge Twins fan and I have to say that there are some very cute players on the team such as Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau.

  11. Kasey on 07 Oct 2007 at 10:48 am #

Oh and Apolo Ohno is very cute too - the speed olympic speed skater.

  12. Karen Rose on 07 Oct 2007 at 10:49 am #

Olympic swimmers in speedos. There’s a Michaelangelo David-esque beauty to the sight. Hey, it’s culture!

KarenH, look what I found - Beckham in a speedo.

Oh I think I have missed so much!! Growing up, my dad loved football and hockey and I tried to get into it, but I just don’t pay attention very closely…but after those yummy pics…methinks I’m having a change of heart!!

    Thanks for the yummy FROS!

Now I’m off to paint…the hubby and I are moving…eventually. We’re trying to get his condo in Atlanta renovated before we move lots of stuff in!

Ohhh lala! I love a good sweaty muscular man.

Cookeemana, I love bull riders!!!!!!!!!!!! Cowboys are sooo hot. I can watch them all day, oh and I love to participate in a cattle roundup. I was so lucky when I was younger!!!!

Don’t any of those men pictured above take off their uniforms? I think we need goddess Karen to get into the locker rooms for next week’s FROS! Tell them your doing research for your next book, something about Olympic athletes vs. modern athletes. Tell them you need pictures, lots & lots of pictures!

  15. doglady on 07 Oct 2007 at 11:45 am #

Justin McBride is one lovely hunk of man! My niece showed me some pictures. And I have to agree that a man who takes his role as husband and father that seriously is beyond sexy.

Oh, Brett, darling! I have met him, ladies, and he is an absolute doll. Of course I met him when he played for USM. I did my graduate degrees there and he was a friend of a friend. He ma’amed me to death, but he was just so cute, I didn’t care. The boy has brothers, ladies!

Sorry, ladies, but the cutest athlete I know at this time is my sixteen year old nephew, Bo. He plays football and baseball for his high school team. Any kid who takes his Nana, his sister and his cousin to the movies once a week during summer vacation (they started this tradition as first graders) , keeps his Nana’s grass cut, calls her every night to tell her how his day went is a real prize. Yes, he’s the one in my will because he said “Aunt Pam, I would never put you in a nursing home. You can come live with me.” Love that kid!

  16. doglady on 07 Oct 2007 at 11:46 am #

Oh and I agree with Kelly Ann! Lets send Karen Hawkins on a fact finding mission. Yes, that’s it. That’s what we’ll call it!

  17. cookeemama on 07 Oct 2007 at 12:49 pm #

Well, heck. Why should Ms. Hawkins get get on this mission? She has books to write. I’m not busy. I’d be glad to volunteer my time and eyeballs to the project.

Speaking of cowboys. If they’ve got on a good pair of chaps, you don’t need to look any higher.

  19. Cookiedough on 07 Oct 2007 at 1:58 pm #

My 15yr old niece has now made it her life’s mission to bag a cowboy. She went to our fall fair yesterday and fell deep! I must admit, a man in chaps- yum!

  20. Gannon on 07 Oct 2007 at 2:01 pm #

Nice pictures! I think all of the above are FROS worthy! Brett Favre has a winning smile…along with everything else!;) I love football players in those tight pants. Mmmm Mmmm!

Good luck with your move, Kim!

  21. Patty L. on 07 Oct 2007 at 2:03 pm #

I think that Tony Romo is adorable with his sweet smile. I also have a soft spot for A-Rod and Jason Witten. I love a man who plays sports. They are all just so sexy.

  22. Karen Hawkins on 07 Oct 2007 at 2:22 pm #

Kim, good luck with the painting! I used to live near ATL and I LOOOOOVED it!

Kasey, got to see who those players are and make certain they’re qualitied. It’s good to check out the competition, eh? I need to check out your speed skater, too. They have INCREDIBLE thighs.

Karen Rose, thank you for the pic. I’m now using it for my wallpaper on my computer. Eggsellant!

Judy, pullleeeeze! Of COURSE one of the main reasons you like GB is Brett, but not the ONLY reason. They play some edge-of-the-seat

Doglady, what a great nephew! Such a sweetie! Wish my daughter was younger so we could introduce them. I’d love her to meet a guy with values like that.

Cookiemama, I’m thinking we should all go together as s a posse’. We may need more than one rope . . .

And oh my gosh — YEEEHAW!!! I am INSPIRED, people! IN-SPIRED! Wow. I had no idea bull riding was so motivational!

  23. doglady on 07 Oct 2007 at 5:05 pm #

Uhmm, ladies, why exactly does Karen need more than one rope for this mission? Inquiring minds want to know. And visualize!

  24. Karen Hawkins on 07 Oct 2007 at 7:45 pm #

(blinks innocently) We’ll need more than one rope ’cause I ’spect we’ll want more than one cowboy. Won’t we?

  25. doglady on 07 Oct 2007 at 10:49 pm #

Oh!!! You’re getting take out for all of us??? Isn’t that sweet, ladies? I’ll take mine with nothing on it at all, please!

  26. Karen Rose on 07 Oct 2007 at 11:11 pm #

    Doglady, you’re wicked.

We like you that way. Go, girl!

  27. doglady on 08 Oct 2007 at 12:02 am #

Hey, women named Karen have corrupted me! What can I do???

  28. TinaLouiseF on 08 Oct 2007 at 2:18 am #

    Not that I knwo of.

If I watch anything resembling sports, it is horse jumping or figure skating.

  29. TinaLouiseF on 08 Oct 2007 at 2:19 am #

Oops, I dislike my laptop. The curser always jumps around and I don’t always catch the mistakes.

  30. colinfirthfan on 08 Oct 2007 at 11:54 am #

Becks is definitely on mu list.
I used to have a big thing for Brian Laudrup - Danish football (soccer) player - ages ago.

  31. zambonigirl on 08 Oct 2007 at 2:12 pm #

Rob Niedermayer from the Mighty Ducks. Grrrr…

When he picked up the Stanley Cup and kissed it, I never wanted to be made of silver so much in my life.

  32. Karen Hawkins on 08 Oct 2007 at 3:04 pm #

    You guys crack me up!

colinfirth, I always find Becks a bit arrogant, but I can’t deny that he’s a hottie! I’ll have to look him Brian Laudrup. I always liked Michael Owens, though. Pity about his injuries. :(

zamboni, I hear you. If I had a dime for all of the times I’ve wanted to be made out of ‘winner’s cup’ silver and gold, I’d be a wealthy woman.

And oh, the mighty Packers lost last night! I was yelling for all I was worth, but no go. They slipped and fell.

  33. colinfirthfan on 08 Oct 2007 at 4:48 pm #

KarenH, I liked Michael Owens too. I love watching Man U play coz I keep hoping Rooney will do something brilliant. I also love to watch Cristiano Ronaldo (I love his name too :) ).

I was the only one in my entire office (amongst the few who watched The World Cup) who was rooting for the English team!! :)
Becks is an inconsistent player but at least he is hot!

Oh I remember this hot Italian footballer - Reberto Baggio. I think I must’ve been 16 or something when he was playing.

  34. Kasey on 08 Oct 2007 at 9:30 pm #

    Karen H -

Here are pics of those guys.

    Justin: http://media.canada.com/idl/ntnp/20061122/190293-71509.jpg?size=l

    Joe: http://www.startribune.com/stonline/images/news17/1mauer0708.l.jpg

I think I take back my verdict on Apolo - he needs to shave that goatee first.

  35. darkshire007 on 08 Oct 2007 at 9:47 pm #

Zdeno Chara (Bruins), Alexei Semenov (San Jose) and Tom Venuto (bodybuilder). “Hot” just seems too small a word for what these guys offer!

  36. Karen Hawkins on 09 Oct 2007 at 10:50 am #

Oooh, Kasey! Niiiice! Thanks for the uplifting moment!

darkshire, I haven’t heard of any of these. I’m off to check ‘em out!
