I am a bad person: I read tabloids

divathumb.jpg I can’t help it. I am standing in line at the grocery store, and there are Brad and Angelina looking very distressed with a headline that suggests Brad has left Angelina.

What? The greenpeace and love couple are splitting up? brangelina.jpg

Just below it is another mag featuring a fried Lindsey Lohan, and for an added bonus, Britney Spears in the Trashiest Look Ever Conceived. The Truth Behind Young Hollywood! it says. I wonder if the truth behind young Hollywood will reveal any parents.

mugshot-lohan.jpg

I have bought OK! and US MAGAZINE and STAR and PEOPLE indiscriminately. I have read full articles on the death of Anna Nicole Smith and the story behind the Two Coreys, a new reality TV show. I know who is dating who, what the Hollywood and New York hot spots are, and how many assistants they’ve all been through. I am aware that George Clooney has lost weight and Jake Gyllenhall and Reese Witherspoon broke up before they ever actually dated.

clooney_large.jpg
I am a celebrity news junkie. But…BUT! There is a silver lining in my despicable habit. AMERICAN DIVA combines two of my faves: American Idol and celebrity gossip. In AMERICAN DIVA, a songbird’s quick skyrocket to fame is ruined with tabloids, paparazzi, treacherous friends, and a deadly stalker. I have sprinkled celebrity gossip about my diva all through the book (to justify buying all those magazines I just freely admitted to buying). I have taken my vast knowledge of celebrity trailer trash and applied it to her family and the pressures of rising from the trash heap to fame. And I have given her a Brad Pitt-type hero to swoop in and save the day. Every girl needs a little Brad, doesn’t she?

Today AMERICAN DIVA goes on sale! That means you can put down that OK! magazine and pick up Julia London instead. It’s what PW said was “celebrity tabloid without the guilt” and “a great one to throw in the beach bag.” Just saying.

Are you a celebrity gossip hound, or can you refrain from lowering yourself to read that trash? Maybe somewhere in between? If you are, I envy you. I am weak when it comes to gossip. What celebrity can you not get enough of?

Oh my. A topic close to my heart. I’m a closet celeb news junkie! LOL I can’t help it. As a stay at home mom that loves to people watch I am forced into this habit! I check every day to see what the celebs are up to, only believing half of what I read, but being very entertained anyway.

I cannot get enough Gerard Butler. I keep watching the clips from Tomb Raider with Gerard Butler and Angelina Jolie’s love scene and can’t fathom why she’s with Brad and not Gerry. Of course, I would be crushed completely were Gerry to hook up with her, but still!

The other celeb I adore is Orlando Bloom. Swoon! :)

  2. diamondlil on 07 Aug 2007 at 4:45 am #

Can you believe that Australia Post is supposed to be issuing a postage stamp of Brad and Angelina! No idea why but still!

  3. Judy F on 07 Aug 2007 at 4:45 am #

I have Us delivered to my home. I pick up In Style and In touch pretty much weekly. People is it or miss. Yes I am a check out trash girl. LOL Sometimes its just to look at the pretty pictures, others to read about someone else’s life.

I love news on Keifer Sutherland, George Clooney and a few others.

    Congrats on the book.

  4. Stacy ~ on 07 Aug 2007 at 5:32 am #

Sometimes I am, sometimes not. Depends. Most of the stuff out there is so re-hashed: Lindsay in rehab, again. Britney’s a trashy mother. Brangelina. I think Paris Hilton’s whole jail thing just pushed me over the edge. Who freakin’ cares???? Seriously, it’s like a train wreck in the beginning, and I’m unable to look away but then it gets downright annoying. Not to say that I can’t be totally superficial and revel in these beautiful people’s embarrassing and dirty secrets LOL, but I get my quick fix and move on.

  5. Stacy S on 07 Aug 2007 at 6:09 am #

I buy them too. It’s funny reading all the crazy stuff whether its true or not. I’ll read the ones you named above.

  6. gannon on 07 Aug 2007 at 6:42 am #

I subscribe to People magazine, for which my dh gives me untold grief! When I’m in line at the grocery store, I peruse the covers of all of the tabloids and if I have time, I open them up and read a little. :)

I have a good friend that buys them all, so when I visit her I can read all the celebrity gossip I want!!

  7. DebMarlowe on 07 Aug 2007 at 7:33 am #

Hooray on the new release, Julia! It sounds like fun!

I don’t read the gossip mags, but my guilty pleasure is the E! Channel, which is the same thing, different format. When I’m folding laundry I turn on the TV, and watch either E or the Food Network. It’s a bribe to myself, because I hate to fold laundry!

  8. SuzyQ on 07 Aug 2007 at 7:34 am #

OK, I admit it. I have the Star delivered to my house. I’m also guilty of impulse buying other magazines while flipping through them on line at the supermarket. Besides all the articles, I hate to admit I like to see when they catch the stars without makeup. Boy, some of them look soooo different!

Julia, at least you have an excuse - you can call it research! LOL!

  9. Lisa H on 07 Aug 2007 at 7:45 am #

I am not a fan of Brad and Angelina. I am still disgusted with Brad for leaving Jen (even though I have no idea if he left her FOR Angelina.) I just feel bad for Jennifer Anniston. I have no patience for cheating men (and they are everywhere!)

Anyway there is one celebrity I always read about, no matter what tabloid has him featured and that is Johnny Depp. I am so in love with him, I think he is so beautiful and seems to be a loving father as well.

Whenever I see stories on Brittany Spears and Lindsay Lohan, I feel so bad for them, I wish I could be their friend and help them through this difficult time. It is obvoious that even with their millions and fame, they are lost little girls.

Congratulations on the release of “American Diva” I can’t wait to read it!

  10. ladydawgfan on 07 Aug 2007 at 7:55 am #

The saddest part about Lindsay Lohan is that it was preventable. She needed someone stronger than her, an aunt or a grandmother, to grab her by the ear, kick her in the butt, and tell her, “NO! That is NOT okay!!” Instead, she got a criminal for a dad, and a mom who wants to be a buddy instead of a parent. She has enough buddies. She needs a base.

I read an article about another child actress who made the transition to adult actress w/o the same troubles as LL. She basically said that she was still her father’s daughter and her mother’s daughter, and besides “my grandma has my phone number and isn’t afraid to use it!”

  11. Caren Crane on 07 Aug 2007 at 8:13 am #

Julia, I’ll admit a hefty interest in celebrity gossip. I don’t watch TV (as I’m sure I’ve mentioned before), so I keep up with what’s going on by reading Entertainment Weekly. Now, EW doesn’t have the trashy trash, so I supplement by reading headlines at the grocery store and perusing “OK” and others at the bookstore.

My bff, who is the biggest celeb gossip junky ever, swears that “Hello” is the best trash rag ever. Unfortunately, it’s British and not available in our area. To get it delivered (from Britain!) costs a fortune. So, no “Hello” for us!

Stacy, I agree you can get burnt out on the goss. That’s why I will go for weeks at times without the real trash, then play catch up at the hair salon. It’s like fasting before a feast! *g*

  12. cail on 07 Aug 2007 at 8:23 am #

i tend to browse the ‘entertainment’ section of MSNBC.com when i’m in the mood for a celeb update.

i HATE the section in the rag mags that proclaim ‘they’re just like us!’ i don’t care that an actress pets dogs, or drinks coffee.

  13. Darla on 07 Aug 2007 at 8:48 am #

Just like us…yea right…just see how many stunts I pull and how many times I get thrown in jail!

I don’t by the rags but I do peruse online occasionally.

  14. Julia London on 07 Aug 2007 at 8:49 am #

Oh my gosh, you guys bring tears to my eyes. Look at all the goddesses who are willing to stand up and admit being celebrity gossip hounds with me!

Stacy, I should have said that i am so over Paris and Anna Nicole Smith. But not their friends :-) (Nicole is preggers!)

Deb, I also watch E!. I say its background noise while I make dinner. But that’s not really true, LOL

Caren, I had the pleasure of reading HELLO from cover to cover on one trip to the UK. Heaven! But a lot of people I don’t know.

  15. Maggie Robinson on 07 Aug 2007 at 8:58 am #

Oh, confession time. My mother-in-law lived with us for three years, and she was addicted to all those tabloid papers. I’d buy them for her in the grocery store, always announcing loudly they were for my dotty mil, who probably would have re-read the same issue for months without realizing because she’d pretty much lost her marbles….but I had to see the new “news.” I always buy those crappy magazines on vacation, because no one I know will see me reading them by the pool! I don’t really watch TV, so People, InStyle and Vanity Fair keep me connected to what passes for pop culture. I don’t have a celebrity crush, and am totally sick of Brangelina, no matter how much good they do.

  16. terrio on 07 Aug 2007 at 9:19 am #

I don’t buy any of the mags but I do watch way too much E!. Plus I listen to the hot celebrity gossip on morning radio. I am beyond over Paris and I too have this strange urge to go over there and take charge of Britney and Lindsey. Seriously, they just need someone to shake the bajeebies out of them and make them fly right. Or at least someone to tell Britney to stop dressing that way. Does that girl not have a mirror? Or an ounce of taste!!!

  17. Sabrina Jeffries on 07 Aug 2007 at 9:20 am #

Like Lisa H, I will read anything about certain celebs (especially Johnny Depp or Colin Firth or Jeremy Northam or Matthew Macfadyen … the guys I like :-) ), but I don’t go out of my way to do it. I don’t read online and I don’t read magazines in general. I LIKE mags, mind you, but I’d never get anything done if I kept any in the house. I’m just saying. Celeb gossip is entertaining to me, but I’d almost rather watch a L&O rerun.

  18. doglady on 07 Aug 2007 at 9:28 am #

When you work at Wal-Mart, almost every tabloid ends up in the lounge at some point. I do confess that if I finish the book I bring from home or forget to throw one in my purse, I DO read the rags and of course, in the checkout line, all’s fair! Lisa H, I too love to read about Johnny Depp because you seldom read anything bad about him today. I am sick and tired of Brad and Angelina! I guess it is my Southern roots, but I do NOT think it is right to celebrate a couple of adulterers who conceive a child before his divorce is final. I think she is a hypocrite because she is estranged from her father because he cheated on her mother and yet she became the other woman. I think he is just p.w.’ed. Oh well! The best part, I guess, is to read that while they have all of this money and fame their lives are train wrecks. I’m beyond broke, but my life hasn’t been on the six o’ clock news lately (thank God they don’t broadcast the funeral home gurney races) so I feel better about myself!

  19. doglady on 07 Aug 2007 at 9:29 am #

Whose books do I read at work? Why the Goddesses’ books, of course!

  20. Claudia Dain on 07 Aug 2007 at 9:53 am #

Congrats on New Book Day, Julia!! I’m leaving for Borders in 15 minutes!

I love knowing what’s going on with media celebrities, past and present; hey, do I care if they’re dead? No!

But I really do hit my limit and lose interest at a certain point when a celebrity has been over-exposed. Paris, anyone?

I also lose interest when I think they are media hounds; who rewards a barking dog? The Beckhams fit this category for me.

I ALSO get bored when the story just gets so sad and pathetic that it’s more depressing than entertaining, like with Anna Nicole or Lindsay or Britney.

And then there are the people who just flat out get on my nerves: Brangelina.

I know, I know, so many names that I’m bored with, but there are SO many more that I’m not going to starve for information any time soon. I’m off to get my hair cut today and we all know what that means. Gorge!!!

  21. Julia London on 07 Aug 2007 at 10:04 am #

Claudia, it is your duty to report back if we have missed anyone!

  22. gannon on 07 Aug 2007 at 10:09 am #

I do have some fun info on Brad and Angelina via my girlfriend’s neighbor who’s a flight attendant. She said that Angelina is truly one of the nicest, friendliest people she has ever met. All of the flight attendants really wanted to hate her for the whole Jen and Brad thing, but apparently she’s a lovely person. Who knew?

Oh, and she said Brad Pitt has major b.o.!! Can you believe it??? I mean, if you were his significant other, wouldn’t you say, “Honey, maybe you should try some deoderant!” UGH!

  23. Claudia Dain on 07 Aug 2007 at 10:12 am #

Julia, count on me! I’m on it!

  24. Julia London on 07 Aug 2007 at 10:14 am #

No! No no no no! I refuse to believe that handsome man has BO. Maybe he is adopting the Matthew McConoughey approach to hygiene.

  25. Jami Alden on 07 Aug 2007 at 10:37 am #

I am such a celebrity news junkie. I subscribe to US weekly (and then trade it for my sis in law’s People) and watch both Extra and Access Hollywood every night. And I love that In Touch is basically like the Cliff Notes version of US.

I also recently started watching Chelsea Lately which is hilarious -she does a panel discussion on all the latest celebrity news. And even though I never go to movies anymore, I seem to know which actor is currently starring in whatever movie is out. When I think of the productive brain space that’s taken up by celebrity trivia…

  26. Patty L. on 07 Aug 2007 at 10:51 am #

I ordered your book from my local, down the street, bookstore. Their shipment doesn’t come in until tomorrow, so I wil be able read American Diva this weekend.

As for gossip, I am addicted. I admit to watching E!, Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood and I also have People delivered to my house weekly. I know, it’s sad, but I am a gossip whore. Love it.

  27. Nicole Jordan on 07 Aug 2007 at 10:54 am #

Nope, not a tabloid junkie. I roll my eyes at the “celebrity abducted by aliens” or “she having his baby” headlines. However, I will admit to being a TV Guide addict…. not for the celebrities but to find out what TV shows I want to check out.

But Julia, you book sounds delish! Heading for the bookstore this afternoon!

Important business first. Julia London’s American Diva, with it’s GORGEOUS cover arrived via my cute UPS man. I won’t say I was waiting, but I think he showed up at 10:37 or maybe it was 10:38. I got back upstairs in time to open the box with Hugh Jackman singing I Go To Rio in the background. Tripped my trigger.

I worked with many actors when I was doing benefits for ADA. Never found one who could put their pants on both legs at a time. Most all of them went out of their way to help any way they could. NOT the ones on the covers of the tabloids now.

Yes, I look while I’m in line but don’t open them. I don’t figure they look any different inside the mag.

But I DO have my copy of People with George Clooney on the cover as The Sexiest Man Alive. WOW! I kept my TV Guide with the best picture of William Petersen I’ve ever seen. I do read TVG cover-to-cover every week.

I’m addicted to TMZ. My daily routine is start computer, start the email to downloading, open two tabs, thegoddessblogs and tmz. When Elizabeth Bevarly isn’t on vacation, her blog is in that list. lol

  30. twolilhahas on 07 Aug 2007 at 11:01 am #

Ok, that link doesn’t seem to work… that would be http://www.tmz.com

  31. Julia London on 07 Aug 2007 at 11:14 am #

Oh, twolilhahas, that was mean–I just wasted thirty minutes scrolling through.

Another one is gofugyourself.com. That has some great scoops, too.

Jami, I have heard of Chelsea Lately but haven’t actually seen the show. I read somewhere it was fabulous for chicks like us!

And thanks all you guys who pre-ordered my book. Woo-Hoo!

  32. twolilhahas on 07 Aug 2007 at 11:19 am #

*going to check out gofugyourself.com* lol Sorry, Julia, I’m a junkie.

  33. zambonigirl on 07 Aug 2007 at 11:22 am #

I’ve actually really been looking forward to your book. I think it looks great, and I’m glad it’s out on the shelves today, along with Season II of the Muppet Show (aka The Greatest TV Show Ever), which means that you’re in good company! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! *flails arms excitedly*

I like celebrity gossip to a point, but I don’t buy magazines. I read online tabs like dlisted.com and gofugyourself.com. I prefer to not know a lot about celebrities, though. I think the more I know about them, the more I don’t like them.

  34. twolilhahas on 07 Aug 2007 at 11:27 am #

Oh, Julia, too funny. I love that site. Guess I just added another to my list!!!

  35. Karen Hawkins on 07 Aug 2007 at 11:35 am #

I never, EVER read celebrity gossip (can you BELIEVE Lohan’s in rehab AGAiN? They need to name a wing after her!) or celebrity news (Brangelina can’t last — I just can’t see him with her and it amazes me they’re still together), or anything else celebrity-oriented (Hugh Jackman’s rumored to be signed for WOLVERINE, and director Gavin Hood is rumored to be directing it! If so, it should be YUMMY!). I don’t have the time.

(Btw, Julia, I loooove Kathy Griffin’s D-List. Have you ever seen that show?)

(And Julia, I’m off to buy AMERICAN DIVA right after lunch!)

  36. Julia London on 07 Aug 2007 at 11:39 am #

I ADORE Kathy Griffin’s D-List! Its the most hilarious show! She’s hysterical!

  37. Karen Hawkins on 07 Aug 2007 at 11:49 am #

    SQUEEEEEE! I LOVE HER, TOO!

We need to do a Kathy Griffin Day here on Mt. Olympus. We’ll dish all the important people!

  38. Lisa H on 07 Aug 2007 at 11:53 am #

Sabrina—I found a great candid photo of Johnny on his yaht wearing just a sarong (I know!) It was tied very low, I think he was wearing plaid boxers underneath, but frankly, he could coat himself in peanut butter and jelly and I wouldn’t kick him out of bed!

Maybe you can find the photo, I guarantee you would like it!

  39. Jami Alden on 07 Aug 2007 at 11:57 am #

Kathy Griffin is AWESOME - If you have a chance to see her live, you must must must go. I’ve seen her twice and she is absolutely hysterical. my dream is to have her do a corporate gig at my husband’s company someday, although I imagine it would be a bit of an HR nightmare.

  40. gannon on 07 Aug 2007 at 12:02 pm #

Kathy Griffin is soooo hilarious!! Love her!

  41. zambonigirl on 07 Aug 2007 at 12:09 pm #

Johnny Depp showing up covered in PB & J just cuts out the middle man, Lisa H.

LOL. He’s “Scrumpdiddlyumptious”. (And I hear that the candy man *can*). ;-)

  42. colinfirthfan on 07 Aug 2007 at 12:14 pm #

I occasionally buy US Weekly or STAR. I stopped buying People because they actually have serious articles in there.
Helloo?? I only want to read little blurbs under big pictures. If I wanted to read entire articles then I buy “O” or something.

I read People online though :-))

  43. colinfirthfan on 07 Aug 2007 at 12:40 pm #

OK that should actually read -
If I wanted to read entire articles then I’D buy “O” or something.

(I have only bought Oprahs mag once.)

  44. twolilhahas on 07 Aug 2007 at 12:49 pm #

Since it’s celeb gossip day, and since I LOVE to give an opinion…Has anyone seen the hit and run clip of Britney Spears ( http://www.x17online.com ) scrubbing into that gray stationwagon and then bamming her door into it and then shopping, without leaving a note or anything?

I was all willing to give the girl the benefit of the doubt until I watched the video. I mean, hitting a parked car I can forgive, things happen. But proceeding to smash your door open into it? Please! No respect. Whether or not she left her information for the owner somewhere, I don’t know, but either way, that was just wrong.

  45. Sabrina Jeffries on 07 Aug 2007 at 1:41 pm #

What my husband and I don’t get is why all these celebs are driving their own cars. If I had their money, I’d be going with a driver all the time, believe me. Why drive when you can read or surf the net or anything but drive?

  46. Ellen Henson on 07 Aug 2007 at 1:45 pm #

I just looked like my dog, Phil, when he hears the word FEED. My ears perked up, my head cocked and yes, even my tail wagged…kinda. Anyway, I think it would be a great idea to do a Kathy Griffin Blog some day. We could all get to talk about some little bit of celebrity news. If one of you inquiring minds doesn’t want to emcee it, I will gladly step up to the red carpet.

I AM A GOSSIP JUNKIE. There, I said it. On the day my Star Magazine is delivered, I tether myself to the coffee table, so the mailman doesn’t have to witness me twitching by the mailbox waiting for my next fix.

I follow all the latest celebrity trends. Bug Eyed Glasses, No Panties, Tats, Big Bags…Hell, I was one of the first to notice that little lap dogs are quickly being replaced with adopted children. Who cringed more than I when Angelina had her Billy Bob tats removed? (One on her arm…don’t ask where the other one is.) I know the difference between sober Vince Vaughn and puffy eyed Vince. George Clooney might have lost weight because he is still in mourning over his pot bellied pet pig.

Don’t even get me started on the train wreck I call, Bald Brit, LiLoLitUp and Knocked up Nicky. (Is it just me, or can we all see the fetus yanking on Nicole’s umbilical cord begging for more food?)

    I feel purged.

    Always
    Ellen

  47. Brandy on 07 Aug 2007 at 1:50 pm #

No one has mentioned my favorite blog for celebrity news. Unfortunately I’m a techno-goober and can’t give the link, in link form. (Oh, and I scan the fronts of tabloids while in line at the grocery store, but don’t do anything other than that.) The website/blog is Pink is the New Blog and is at: http://www.trent.blogspot.com

  48. Brandy on 07 Aug 2007 at 1:51 pm #

oh, YAY! It did it for me!

  49. Julia London on 07 Aug 2007 at 2:06 pm #

oh this is like Christmas in August. Look at all the websites trotted out for me to add to my list.

You guys are going to get a kick out of American Diva, now I am certain.

I would love to have a Kathy Griffin day. I think I’ll email her and ask her to guest blog. Can’t hurt, right?

  50. krystal on 07 Aug 2007 at 2:10 pm #

Reading tabloids is like watching a train wreck. You don’t really want to, but you can’t help but look.

By the way, I just finished Julia’s new book. I loved it.

  51. Julia London on 07 Aug 2007 at 2:13 pm #

Krystal, that was incredibly fast. WOW. I am so glad you liked it!

  52. twolilhahas on 07 Aug 2007 at 2:28 pm #

Julia, I read your Highlander series and LOVED IT! So, if they are selling AMERICAN DIVA at Wal-Mart, I’m definitely picking up a copy.

  53. Caren Crane on 07 Aug 2007 at 2:49 pm #

Um, Sabrina? Some of us LOVE to drive! I would rather drive than be driven any day! So, no matter how much money I ever have, I will only be driven if I am wearing a floor-length gown and walking down a red carpet. Preferably one there in my honor. *g* Other than that, I AM THE DRIVER. :-)

  54. Caren Crane on 07 Aug 2007 at 3:00 pm #

Hey, everyone! Borders/Waldenbooks has a $1 off coupon for Julia’s book! Just go to and print it out. I love saving money and I love Julia’s books. What could be better than having both together?

  55. Caren Crane on 07 Aug 2007 at 3:02 pm #

Shoot, my link didn’t come through. Try this: http://www.bordersstores.com/features/feature.jsp?file=coupon_romance. Just make sure the link is all together and all gets on the line. Stupid technology…

  56. Caren Crane on 07 Aug 2007 at 3:07 pm #

Okay, third try. Use that URL but no period (don’t know why it insists on putting the period in the link!). Did I say stupid technology? I meant, technology is our friend!

  57. Julia London on 07 Aug 2007 at 3:07 pm #

Caren, that is too cool! I didn’t know it!

And thank you twolilhahas. I’ve got plenty more coming from that era.

  58. Caren Crane on 07 Aug 2007 at 3:15 pm #

So to have diarrhea of the fingers, but I also noticed that Karen Hawkins’ “To Scotland, With Love” is listed on this coupon too. What a coupon!

  59. Estrella on 07 Aug 2007 at 3:21 pm #

Truly..I don’t know how to answer this. I can deny that I am a junkie, but I was pretty glued during the whole Anna Nicole drama and yes I sneak a peek at the what I dub the “cheesy” magazines while in line at the grocery. I have not read Diva yet, but I will pick it up over the weekend. Caren, thanks for the coupon! What I save on books, I spend on shoes!!

  60. Judy F on 07 Aug 2007 at 3:59 pm #

This is a fun blog… I am with Stacy on Paris. I was so happy when US mag published a Paris free issue.

I just might have to break down and get cable. Seems like I am missing a lot.

(as I type this the Insider is on)

  61. Julia London on 07 Aug 2007 at 4:22 pm #

Okay, everyone, I formally invited Kathy Griffin to blog with us. We’ll see if anyone responds. If not, we will have a Kathy Griffin day on one of my days soon!

  62. twolilhahas on 07 Aug 2007 at 4:43 pm #

I have no idea who Kathy Griffin is!

  63. Ann in IL on 07 Aug 2007 at 7:05 pm #

I have always been fascinated by Princess Diana and Princes William and Harry. Will buy anything with info about them. Charles and Crudmilla - NO.

Branjolina, Paris, Nicole, Lindsay, Jen, Anna Nicole……….all those celebrity-types. YUK. I don’t give a flyin’ fig what they do or say. Wouldn’t waste my time or money to read about them. Honestly, there are very few “Hollywood” names that I can put a face to. Only watch PBS for Antiques Roadshow and sometimes catch CSI - Vegas if I’m awake that late. TV frustrates me. the last movie I saw was Disney’s Tarzan with my niece and nephew. Don’t get out much.

I admit to reading the gossip….then going to work and finding out if any of the other women have read it too! We compare our thoughts on the different stories and people and in the end decide that most of Hollywood is a waste. Then, the very next week, pick up the latest mag and start all over again. There are only three women at work but it’s enough for a good discussion. I think the mags need more men though; I just get tired of Britney, Paris, Nicole, Kelly, Janet, etc. Give me more dirt on the men!

twolilhahas — I didn’t know either until I Googled her and it jogged my memory.

I realized then I am not a gossip rag junkie, I am a Google junkie. I will drop whatever I’m doing to learn the latest about someone and that is my go to place.

I might, just might, save some of the links here, but Google keeps me busy. BTW, the new TV Guide does have a current list of actors arrested for DUI, not however of front page rag status.

Yay, Julia! Kathy Griffin is a hoot and a half! I hope she accepts!

    I LOVE Kathy Griffin.

Sorry, Caren, but driving is not my favorite thing. Too boring. You know me–always need constant stimulation.

I don’t read about them but I do watch the shows on TV devoted to the movie stars.

I have to agree, Sabrina. I HATE driving. I must have been a Gabor sister in a former life - a limo or any vehicle that I don’t have to drive sounds divine!

I hate driving, too. Funny, I’ve just taken the postal exam to be a rural mail carrier! lol Guess I better start to liking it…if I get a job with them.

    Julia -

If you truly like your celebrity dirt, then you must peruse my latest guilty pleasure: http://www.perezhilton.com

Gossip just doesn’t get any snarkier (is that a word?)

Gossip hound, guilty! BTW, Julia, Reese and Jake are back on. Or pretending to be.

  73. Julia London on 08 Aug 2007 at 12:53 pm #

Beth, thanks for the tip. I have seen Perez, but I’ve been a little afraid to go there, LOL

Sherri, you don’t say! I missed my early morning celeb news!

I rarely read a tabloid, I prefer to read a book.
The headlines are hard to avoid in checkout lines.
    They make me laugh.
