By Any Other Name

Suzanne EnochOn Writing!
Like Karen Hawkins, I am a fan of Hugh Jackman. He plays a great hero. And a great villain. And he seems like a nice guy in the real world. This is a picture of him as Van Helsing, but I see SO many more possibilities. Your task, if you should choose to accept it, is to give him another name: the name of a hero. I’ll go first — Luke Blackheart. Oh, wait. Kane DeLancey. No…

I’m assuming you mean other than “Yummy.”

I’m terrible at coming up with names…I’ll have to keep thinking….

I know what you mean, Ronlyn. The first name I thought up was Yummy McDreamy. Sigh.

I don’t have much planned for today so I could invite him over to work on names together. In case he’s busy I’ll try to think of some myself. Zane Worthington? I’ll think some more.

How about we all agree to just call him MINE?

These are names derived from various ancestors in my family tree but among them is a crest from long ago Scotland and a name that only exists in our family.
Russell MacLogan
Donald Mandeen
Grandfather Mandeen (nee Gustafson) created the name Mandeen when he emigrated from Sweden 1917. Another case of Ellis Island officials not understanding a native language — or perhaps Grandfather just wanted a new start. I was supposed to be Donald, not Donna, when I was born. Oops. The Mac was dropped long ago and I believe the original Logans settled in Kentucky.

I was thinking
Thad Kinley…short for Thaddeus
Talon Darling
Darius Lashley
Oh, I don’t know, I’m like Ronlyn, not very good at the name thing. Guess that’s why I read them and don’t write them…LOL…
Still i like all 3 of the first names if not the last names. What does everyone else think?

Interesting how many of us seem to think that ole Gabriel Van Helsing must be Scottish or Irish. Must be the twinkle in his eyes.

He will always be Wolverine to me…
Wolfram Eckstein.
And yes, that’s an actual name. Wolfram means “strong like a wolf”, and Eckstein means “cornerstone”. It’s a great name for a hero, if you’re German.
I will, of course, call him “Wulf” for short.
And he’s not as hot as Gerard Butler, so while I enjoy Gerry’s Scottish brogue, y’all can fight over Hugh. ;-P

You’ll have a fight on your hands for Gerard too! I’d much rather have him than Hugh…ok, maybe not MUCH, but I still prefer him

I’ve been watching Britain’s Got Talent lately and one of the talents is a man with a puppet monkey. He’s so freakin’ cute (and talanted… and wearing leather pants…) and one of the first things I thought about was that he has a great name for a hero…
Damon Scott!
Also, being who I am, I just couldn’t help thinking that if I were to marry him my name would be Anna Scott - the name of Julia Roberts’ character in Notting Hill.
