The Goddess Quiz

Hello, my lovely goddesses! It dawned on me last night that we jumped into the whole blog thing without properly introducing ourselves.

So . . . I thought we’d have a little GetToKnowYou Goddess Quiz. There are no wrong answers. After all, if you weren’t already a goddess, you wouldn’t be here. But this little quiz will give us all a chance to ‘meet’ one another.

awomanreading.jpg1. What’s the last book you read? The next book you plan on reading?

2. Where do you read thegoddessblogs.com?
a) at home pretending to pay bills but secretly checking out thegoddessblogs.com,
b) at work pretending to scan the annual reports while secretly checking out thegoddessblogs.com,
c) at a coffee shop with your laptop, sipping coffee and openly checking out thegoddessblogs.com?

3. What’s the best thing that’s happened to you in the last three months? (All goddesses are looking for reasons to party and celebrations are the best!)

4. Which two words describe you best: lively, shy, capable, creative, durable, impatient, consistent, flighty, dreamer, talented, determined, humorous, gentle, organized, stylish, or flexible?

5. How do you handle your Anger Monkey? By yourself? Take it out on whatever minions are close by? Toss lightning bolts? Or hide until the storm blows over? Or does your Anger Monkey take care of itself?

apet.jpg6. How many animals and/or children do you have? (And yes, you may include your significant other or the neighbor’s cat, if they hang out on your porch long enough.)

7. Some of you have screen names that amuse and confuse me. Why and how did you come up with your screen name?

and last but not least,
8. If your TV could play only one show a week, what show would that be and why?

There you go, my goddess sisters! Take the Goddess Quiz and say “hello!”

    I will go first!

    1. Last book I read: SEX, LIES, AND ONLINE DATING (a reread) by Rachel Gibson and next book will be Julia London’s THE PERILS OF PURSUING A PRINCE. Can’t wait to get my copy next Tuesday! Bonus answer: I’m currently reading a book called The Templars, about the Templar Knights.

    2. At home!

    3. Best thing — thegoddessblogs! I love coming here first thing in the morning. It’s like the water cooler at work, only better.

    4. impatient and dreamer … not good qualities, but they’re me.

    5. I don’t get mad often, but my Anger Monkey has been known to screech once in a while. Not for long, but occassionally.

    6. 2 kids, a dog and a cat

    7. mine is pretty self explanatory — and not very fun. If I chose another, it’d be HughsGal for Hugh Jackman, my secret lover.

    8. Clean House. I’m addicted. I want Ceci and Mark to come to my house and redo it.

    Now, who’s next?

  2. Sonja Foust on 12 Apr 2007 at 8:17 am #

    How funnnn. I love quizzes.

    1. Books? I’m reading A Woman Scorned by Liz Carlyle right now. Next? Probably a chick-lit vampire.

    2. Where do you read thegoddessblogs.com? b) at work pretending to scan the annual reports while secretly checking out thegoddessblogs.com, totally.

    3. Best thing that’s happened in the last three months? Woohoo! My short story “Love In Shadow” was published at TheWildRosePress.com!

    4. Two words that describe me best: capable, consistent– God, how boring.

    5. Anger Monkey? Hopefully by myself, but if minions are around, they get it too. Sorry, minions.

    6. Pets/kids? One dog, and that’s enough, thankyouverymuch. This womb is not open for business.

    7. Screen-name: Well, I’m a promo ho, so mine is just my name, which, if you were to Google, you would find on many a page whoring myself as An Author You Must Read.

    8. One TV show? Hmm. I’m having trouble deciding between American Idol and House. American Idol is awesome, and you can’t argue with awesome.

  3. Sonja Foust on 12 Apr 2007 at 8:19 am #

Also, Hugh Jackman is totally MY pretend boyfriend. Give him back.

  4. smlt76 on 12 Apr 2007 at 8:22 am #

    1. Simply Love by Mary Balogh is what I am reading now and I have no idea what is next on my TBR pile. I am waiting not so patiently for the new Sabrina Jeffries and Suzanne Enoch, lol.

    2. At home!

    3. I started working from home.

    4. shy and determined

    5. I am not angry very often, but when I am my family knows to leave mom alone.

    6. 2 kids and hubby

    7. my initals and birthday

    8. Numbers - I love Rob Morrow, I still miss Northern Exposure.

  5. joyrop on 12 Apr 2007 at 8:23 am #

    1. This is going to sound brown noseyish, but I’m just finishing “Her Officer and Gentleman” which I read right after “Her Master and Commander.” Really loved them.

    2. b, I don’t have the internet back at home in the stone age.

    3. I started writing again recently and it is really stress relieving, as long as I know no one will ever look at it but me.

    4. cautious and humorous.

    5. My anger monkey helps me calmly explain to people that I am always right. Darn, I want some minions, though. That would be the best thing that happen to me in the last few months.

    6. I don’t have any pets or kids, but I have two roommates and they are remarkably similar to both pets and kids at times.

    7. My screen name is a combo of my names that I made up in college and sort of stuck.

    8. My attention span is very short so my favorite show changes frequently. Competition reality shows have been big for me lately. American Idol to Project Runway.

  6. ladydawgfan on 12 Apr 2007 at 8:37 am #

    6. I have two cats, Pebbles and Bam Bam, the Abbott and Costello of the cat world.
    7. I am a lady, and a diehard fan of the MSU Dawgs.
    8. Either Heroes, 24, Amazing Race, or American Idol. I can’t pick just one!!

  7. Claudia Dain on 12 Apr 2007 at 8:40 am #

How fun! And I won’t procrastinate like I did yesterday; I’ll answer these right now.

    3. The Good Mommy in me requires me to say: First Born’s B-day is today! I think I’ve finally lost that pregnancy weight…LOL

    5. The Anger Monkey and I are very close, we also have a bond.

    6. Three kids who are legal adults (legal being so subjective a term) and 1 dog, 1 cat.

    7. Boring self-explanatory screen name.

    8. I can’t live with only one TV show. Impossible question, Karen. I’m going to have to unleash my Anger Monkey on you.

  8. DebMarlowe on 12 Apr 2007 at 8:52 am #

Last book: Never Deceive a Duke, Liz Carlyle. Next: I have Claiming the Courtesan by Anna Campbell

Read the blog at home, first thing!

I’m cheating a little because I’ve had an amazing 4 months. I sold my first book, was named a Golden Heart finalist, then sold the GH manuscript in a 3 book deal! Unbelieveable!

    Determined and lively

I have to get the Anger Monkey off my back, then it’s over quickly. No grudges.

2 boys, 1 cat and a dh who never grew up

    My pen name

Only 1? Big Love, or Entourage, or Project Runway or Law and Order or Survivor. I can’t choose!

Sonja, step away from the Hugh. He’s mine and I’m loaded. Er, I mean, I have a loaded weapon. Yeah. That’s what I meant.

Smit76, I was wondering if you were a Smith, ’cause I was before I married. Totally love Mary Balogh, btw. She gave me my very first quote for my very first book, which left me in shock and awe. She’s INCREDIBLE.

Joyrop, the fact that you just read, and are reading, books of mine does NOT make you a brown noser. It makes a woman of taste and refinement who can appreciate a good laugh once in a while. And yes, we ALL deserve minion. Lots and lots of minions.

ladydawgfan, I think you’re right and Julia’s book is going to flyyy off the shelves. I’m buying mine EARLY Tuesday.

Claudia Dain, you never HAD pregnancy weight, darn you! I, however, am still trying to lose mine. Did I mention my daughter’s in college?

Deb, good gosh, what an INCREDIBLE four months! You are a goddess and THEN some! Who bought your book? When can we read it? We need details!

  11. miesa on 12 Apr 2007 at 9:54 am #

    1. Last read? Heartbreaker by Julie Garwood. Next up? Hard to say. Depends entirely on my mood.

    2. At home usually. Miss goody two shoes wouldn’t do anything like that at work! Gasp! Shock! Well, maybe sometimes. LoL

    3. Hmm, that’s a tough one. I’m an exhibit developer so right now I’m working with an artist to actually create a sculpture that is being installed on site at the museum where I work. It’s been a blast! Though muscles I didn’t know I had now hurt.

    4. capable, determined

    5. I vent to friends and family. My minions are safe, usually.

    6. Zip. But I’ve got a huge family, so it feels like I’m always watching someone’s kids!

    7. My sister started calling me miesa. We’ve got a ton of nicknames for each other. I picked one for my screen name.

    8. JAG (even if the show is off the air now, thank god for DVDs!) - David James Elliott… in uniform… No other reason necessary. sigh.

    8. I would have to say Bones. I like House, but that David Boreanaz is eye candy I just can’t live without. :)

  15. Karen Hawkins on 12 Apr 2007 at 10:16 am #

Miesa, the sculpture project sounds fascinating! How cool that you get to do something so creative for work.

Elsie, you have a HUGE family! Goodness! Bet Christmas is tough for you with alllll those kids to get presents for. Whew!!! And I’ve always wanted to go the Costa El Sol. One day …. !!!

Danielle, I avoid QVC cause I know I’ll love it, but my monthly budge won’t. But everytime I scan past it, and they have jewelry on it, I end up sitting … staring … yearning … (sigh) So much bling, so little time.

Congrats on the first draft, Kris!

And Di, that had to be the scariest five minutes of your life. Hugs just for getting through it!

    1. Last book read was “One for the Money” by Janet Evanovich Next will be “A Lady’s Guide to Rakes” (re-read) and then it will be Tuesday and I get to read “Perils” after that back to the back list of Mary Balogh.

    Deb,

    Thanks for the hugs!

Yes, it was the scariest 5 minutes, but oh, how sweet to hear his voice and know that he was safe. When he got home, I told him he would just have to put up with me hugging him whenever I feel the need.

    6) One hubby and Three insane Jack Russel Terriers or terrors as I call them.
    7) Kimber is just short for Kimberly. Read it once in a Scottish romance and thought it was cool sounding.
    8) I’m not big on TV but I’ll seriously hurt anyone who touches my DVD player.

Kimber, the scottish romance you’re referring to for your name is one of my favorites. I kept thinking of that book when I would see a post by you, :0)

    2. At work. I don’t have internet at home yet.

    3. I got engaged!

    4. Shy & Organized. I love organizing! Right now I am re-organizing my books and loving every minute of it. It baffles my fiance.

    5. My anger monkey usually gives the silent treatment until the end of the day. Then by morning all is forgiven.

    6. 1 dog. A Norwegian Elkhound named Ole. He’s my baby. I share custody of him with my mom.

    7. My first name with the initial of my last name. Not very creative.

    8. This is a tough one. I love Grey’s Anatomy. But Roseanne is my favorite show ever. I have 7 seasons of Roseanne on DVD and I watch them all the time. (Just ask my fiance. It drives him nuts.)

  35. Karen Hawkins on 12 Apr 2007 at 12:07 pm #

DebMarlowe, that’s AWESOME! I gotta read these, so be sure and post and let us all know when they’re coming out. In fact … we need to make you a guest blogger! Email me!

jessie, you can visit all you want, so long as you don’t miss your study time! Gotta pass those classes!

    annerialin, my mom’s 29 and I’m … older. She says it’s proof of a time warp. :)

Sandi, finish your post! We gotta find out what happened to your hubby!

KMB, what’s “Bones?” Never heard of it… ????

Miz MacGyver, you sound VERY handy with tools, a true goddess. The next time I need to “jack-leg” something, I know who to call!

kimber, three Jack Russels = twelve spastic kids. No kiddin’. I have friends with two JRs, and that’s about the equivalent.

dbrown, Caruso is such a ROCK. Never blinks. Never emotes. Yet it works for him. He’s the most unacting actor ever.

OV_99, I’m a HUGE space fan. Now that I live in Orlando, I can see ALL of the shuttle launches!

  36. gannon on 12 Apr 2007 at 12:12 pm #

    1. Just finished NATURAL BORN CHARMER by SEP–completely hilarious, as usual. Next up…not sure. Something in my ever expanding TBR pile.

    2. Read the goddess blogs at home several times a day!

    3. The best thing that happened to me recently was my DH returned from a year long deployment…on Valentine’s Day. Hooray! And even better, he’s retiring in June, so there will be no more long separations! :)

    4. Humorous and a dreamer

    5. It takes a lot to pi** off the Anger Monkey, but when he makes an appearance it’s a loud one, but brief!

    6. 3 children (S -14, S- 11, D - 7), my hubby, and 1 cat

    7. No explanation on the screen name–just my name. Boring.

    8. So many shows to choose from– House, Heroes, Grey’s Anatomy, Ugly Betty, Lost….

  37. Sabrina Jeffries on 12 Apr 2007 at 12:14 pm #

    1. Pink Ice by Susanna Carr. Up next is my critique partner’s latest mss.
    2. Unashamedly at the coffeehouse. Or unashamedly at home.
    3. My vacation last week in the mountains of Tennessee. What a glorious time I had!
    4. Gregarious and intelligent. When I’m not being a space cadet.
    5. Usually, I grouse to everyone (no, it’s not whining … really … it isn’t). Once in a while, I explode. Not very often though.
    6. One son, no animals.
    7. My pseudonym–I’m so predictable!
    8. Toss-up between Studio 60 (which it looks like they may be canceling, sigh) and Robin Hood. Love the new RH!!

P.S. I happen to have read Deb Marlowe’s book, and it’s wonderful!

    5. Sometimes have to blow at the person, depends on who it is.
    6. Have a 10 yr old son and husband (just like a kid) and one really big dog.
    7. My name.
    8. Can’t pick just one, would be Heros and Gilmore Girls(love them).

  40. KMB25 on 12 Apr 2007 at 12:29 pm #

Karen, You’ve never heard of Bones??????….I think that’s sacriligious (sp?)…hehe.

Actually it’s on fox (although I always watch it when I can once I’ve downloaded it from iTunes) and it’s a show about how a forensic anthropologist working for a prestigious institute partners up with the FBI (namely, Davrid Boreanaz…who plays Special Agent Sealy Booth) to solve crimes…usually grisly murders and stuff. “Bones” is actually the nickname that Booth gives to the doctor….whose character name is actually Dr. Temperence Brennan…aka, Bones. Here’s a link to the show’s website on Fox: http://www.fox.com/bones/

    I think it’s a great show!

I guess not, I must be too long winded. (mine will be in 2 parts)
This reminds me of the 20 question thingys in my e-mail (I’m the only person I know who does)
    1. Just finished “How to abduct a Highland Lord” (my first KH)
Next “Her only desire” by Gaelen Foley
    2. At home
    3. I found my favorite hair color (hey, it’s a reason to celebrate)
    4. Humorously durable? or impatiently consistent? (depending on my
    Hormone levels)

  42. ct009ct on 12 Apr 2007 at 12:35 pm #

    5. See hormone comment above!
    6. No pets - 1 husband, 1 daughter, 1 son, 1 daughter-in-law, 1 son-in-law,
4 grandchildren (only the husband actually lives with me)
    7. My son made it up, he’s a Bond fan (notice I didn’t get to be 007)
so it’s my initials and my secret agent number.
    8. Right now (see hormone comment) - CSI (I can’t wait to find out who’s building those crime scene miniatures) I’ve been keeping my eye on that lab tech whatshisname.

  43. Claudia Dain on 12 Apr 2007 at 12:39 pm #

Terry Jo, if you’re going through withdrawal on Rome, you might give The Tudors a try. I’m hooked! The actor playing Henry VIII, Jonathan Rhys Meyer…wow.

  44. kimber on 12 Apr 2007 at 12:43 pm #

Terry Jo, The book I got my knickname from was Johanna Lindsey’s “Love me forever”.
And yes, Karen, your calculation is right, three JRT’s do equal 12 spastic kids. But I love them just the same.

  45. ct009ct on 12 Apr 2007 at 12:45 pm #

First, I can’t get this thing to work right (actually didn’t count my characters)
Then I don’t make sense - I meant “I’m the only person I know who likes the 20 question thingys”
And I believe I somehow gave the impression that I’m over 21.
    LOL

    4.Dreamer & humorous
    5. Any intense emotion, like anger, always makes me cry,not big sobs fortunately, but just enough for no one to take me seriously any more. I’m not good with anger, so I try to feel it as little as possible.
    6. A handful of fish and 2 boys, my husband only counts as a child when he wants a new toy.
    7. my actual name
    8. I’m really into The Dresden Files right now

ct009ct, we’re glad to have you here! Your comments about ‘hormones” made me laugh.

StacyS, what books did you win????

Sabrina Jeffries, you’re many things, but boring is NOT one of them, moniker or no.

KMB25, I live in a cave and don’t get out much (especially this and next week — deadlines, dontcha know), but I now have BONES marked to be tivo’d so I can enjoy it. Gotta love the tivo!

And Adrienne, out numbered 3 to 1? That’s not fair. Guess you have no choice but to have another child, only this time don’t eat any Chinese food while you’re expecting so that it’s a girl. That works. No, really, it does. I think.

  50. Julia London on 12 Apr 2007 at 1:37 pm #

Adrienne, I read the Storm Front, too, and have been watching the Dresden Files. They are such fun!

  51. foreverdelayed on 12 Apr 2007 at 1:57 pm #

Next book: a vampire one I think, maybe JR Ward

    2. in my dorm room

    3. How about 3 weeks in the future when I go to Toronto to shop and see “Phantom” on stage. If I have to answer in the past, it would have be my test grades in Corp Accounting. Hard class, hard tests, but good grades.

    4. Organized dreamer

    5. Plain anger: sing loud and dance
Frustrated anger: throw or punch something usually a pillow
    Bad Day Anger: cry

    6. 2 dogs, 1 cat, 1 hamster (all at my parents’ house but I love them, they’re like children)

    7. I love movies hence the Film part. For Phan, I love “Phantom” but I was thinking along the lines of how he was everywhere and saw everything. Sort of an observer like me. I like to watch things instead of being in the middle.

    8. “Friends” or reruns. I love that show unfortunely I got into it when it was ending

  53. ct009ct on 12 Apr 2007 at 2:07 pm #

Thanks to all of you for over-looking the fact that it took me 3 tries and an instructional e-mail from KH to understand what MAXIMUM 1000 CHARACTERS means. LOL

Stacy S - Is VIRGIN RIVER by Robyn Carr any good? I was thinking about picking it up but I have never read one of her books before. The little summary for it on Writerspace sounded good.

  55. Stacy S on 12 Apr 2007 at 2:19 pm #

foreverdelayed, so you work at a bookstore? That’s my Dream Job. One day, when I grow up, I want to own one and all it will have are romances, mysteries, and biographies.

FilmPhan, I CRIED when I saw Phantom of the Opera in Atlanta at the Fox Theatre. It was so good. You’re gonna loooove it!

ct009ct, it’s our pleasure! Takes a while to get used to a new format, but we’re trying. Gotta keep those spammers at bay!

Stacy S, you got a heck of a great haul — both of those are awesome reads. Congrats! That is indeed something to celebrate!

  58. gannon on 12 Apr 2007 at 2:55 pm #

FilmPhan, any of the JR Ward vampire books would be an excellent pick. They can stand alone, but are best read in order, starting with DARK LOVER. Those brothers are HOT!!! Enjoy. I’m thinking of rereading the series while I wait for the next. :)

  59. KMB25 on 12 Apr 2007 at 2:57 pm #

Karen, I completely understand about deadlines!! I don’t have Tivo…but like I said…my hubby and I download episodes from iTunes all the time :) We never actually have time to sit and watch tv when the shows are actually on for free!

Di R –Diana Lynn right?? Oh good! You still have a couple of years of hugs and cuddles left at least. Get them while you can, my son lets me have a hug once in a blue moon or when he is in trouble, since he is an exceptionally well behaved kid that means I don’t get very many “guilt” hugs but I am NOT complaining. When I have been a VERY good mom I get a hug without asking!

    6. I have no children or pets. My pets are all in heaven now. I did have a dog, Charlie, and three gerbils Ginger, Pepper, and Ginger II. Ginger II and Pepper were sisters.
    7. I love to write poems, that’s why poet is in my name and when I joined, I was inspired by Suzanne Enoch’s topic on being a night owl, hence TheNight part.
    8. I don’t really have a tv show I watch. I hardly have time with studying and going to classes, oh and working too. lol I’d say Home Improvement.

    7. Mine is rumolay, after my cat, Rupert G. (Guaca) Molay.

    1) Last books: Tried to read The Traveller by John Twelve Hawks (blend Da Venci Code with the Matrix and sprinkle in 1984) I took it back to the library after 200 pages. Just finished rereading Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson. Currtent books: The Best American Mystery Stories 2006 and The Tales of the South Pacific by Michener. I can’t read just one book at a time.
    2) At home, which is now my office

    4) lively and dreamer
    5) Anger Monkey=Chocolate
    6) One DH of 18 years, 2 kids (12 & 9), 2 shelties, 2 tabby cats, 20 fish. At least the dogs listen and obey! Usually have an extra child-an exchange student-but we took a year off because the last one was a troll and got sent home. We have hosted 8 times, and just signed up to host again in the fall.

    1) I’m currently going through Mary Balogh’s SLIGHTLY series (unfortunately not in chronological order). So I last read SLIGHTLY SINFUL. Am now reading SLIGHTLY DANGEROUS and will then finally read SLIGHTLY WICKED, which I just bought today.
    2) At home, when i’m suppose to be studying or doing assignments. =P
    3) I turned 18!! =D. Which is legal age in Australia to do all the things that one’s not suppose to in our younger years.
    4) Impatient, dreamer
    5) Anger Monkey? I tend to hide and isolate myself till the storm is over. I usually read my anger away with happy optimistic books. Then afterwards, all is good.
    6) No kids, no pets. I’m not a pet person; pets n plants tend to die on me quickly. Like my fish, which died 2 days after I took it under my wing. So ever since then, no animals for me.
    7) My screen name is my middle name. My first name is Carmester and I’ve always disliked having an unusual name so I hide under my middle name on the Internet.
    8) Grey’s Anatomy & Heroes

Kelly Ann, I read 1776 last year and was amazed. I hope he does the same for 1777, etc. I had no idea how desperate things were and how difficult the times were for the revolutionary army. I mean, I’d heard that in class, but he really makes it real, doesn’t he? McCullough is a genius.

SuzyQ, where did you and your dh go for your minivacation? My dh (dear heart) went to Mt. Dora, FL, in February which is an antiques and craft meca with a ton of wine bars, spas, restaurants, and B & Bs all set in a quaint city. Verrrry relaxing.

colinfirthfan, my sister had adenoid issues and it was AMAZING when she finally had them removed. I hope all goes well with your child!

LisaP, reconnecting with old friends is so important. I need to do more of that myself.

Audrey, I love, love, love Marianne Stillings. she is wickedly funny!

Cail, I still cry when Henry dies on MASH, even though I know it’s coming. SUCH a great show. If I ever write a script, I want it to be THAT good.

  82. gannon on 13 Apr 2007 at 10:04 am #

    Karen,

You and your dh went to Mount Dora?!! I grew up in Leesburg, which is right up the road. I love Mount Dora–so charming.

    Gannon

  83. Karen Hawkins on 13 Apr 2007 at 10:45 am #

I love Mount Dora! And you’re right, it’s charming. I have friends who own a B & B and it’s amazingly restful. When we got back, I realized how relaxed I was. I didn’t even realize how tired I was until then. We took walks, went through the shops, took a guided canoe trip, got a couple’s massage, sat in a gorgeous garden and read books and sipped wine … it was lovely.

Maybe after you and the dh finish the move, you can spend a weekend resting up in Mount Dora. I hope you’ll be able to, anyway!

Karen, what’s the name of the B&B your friend owns in Mt. Dora? Maybe one day my dh can relax in Mt. Dora, when we go to visit my parents. We are moving to NC–just down the road from Grandfather Mountain, home of the Highland Games. That whole area is the epitome of relaxation, so we can always just lock ourselves in our room and forbid the kids to enter! ;)

By the way, did you check out the website for the Games?

    Gannon

  87. Karen Hawkins on 13 Apr 2007 at 2:38 pm #

Ah, Kasey, isn’t Italy FABULOUS? And it used to be cheap, too, before the euro. (grumble, grumble!) I’m hoping to take my kids there for Christmas next year.

darlingbeachgirl, I had to laugh at your “and the monster boston terrier Spike oh, and the hubby.” Lol! Sounds like you have a full brood!

Oh Gannon! I looove that part of the country. I go there often to vacation. You lucky girl! My friends Brian and Rachel own the Tremain Street Cottages. They have a website and I hope you get the chance to go sometime or another — it was just lovely. http://www.tremainstreetcottages.com

And yes, I checked out the website for the games, but I think it’s the same week at the Romance Writers National convention and I’m already booked for that. :( WHY is it that all of the good stuff always happens on the same weekends?

  88. Kasey on 13 Apr 2007 at 3:16 pm #

Italy was fantastic….I am already want to go back! I am actually hoping that I might be able to go again next year or to England. I would be happy going to either or both if I can work it out.

  89. gannon on 13 Apr 2007 at 3:27 pm #

    Kasey,

Where did you go in Italy? We lived in Naples for 2 years–not exactly the garden spot of the country, but it was close to so many wonderful places. Tuscany is still my absolute favorite. So beautiful and peaceful. And the fabulous food and wine is a bonus! :) Hope you get to go back.

Karen, maybe you can make the Games next year. They are usually the weekend after the 4th.

    Gannon

  90. Kasey on 13 Apr 2007 at 3:52 pm #

Gannon, we were in Venice, Florence, Ravenna and Bologna. I want to get back to see Rome and Naples. It was amazing over there and I alread miss the gelatto. That is amazing that you got to live in Naples for 2 years. Was there a reason that you moved there for those 2 years?

  91. gannon on 13 Apr 2007 at 3:57 pm #

Kasey, my husband is in the Navy–retiring in June–so it was a duty station for us. Not bad, huh? Not only did we get to see a lot of Italy, but other areas in Europe as well. We really enjoyed ourselves and it was a great experience for our 3 kids.

I miss the gelato, too! Yummm! :)

  92. miesa on 13 Apr 2007 at 4:02 pm #

I love the gelatto in Italy! It just doesn’t taste the same here. Kasey, have you ever been to England before? I studied in London and did archaeology in the Lake District. Though I absolutely loooove London, make sure you explore the country to really get a feel for the place.

  93. Kasey on 13 Apr 2007 at 4:09 pm #

Gannon, that is a great way to see Europe. I bet that was an awesome experience!

Miesa, I have not been to England. I have wanted to go there since before I can remember, but I just haven’t made it yet. Italy was my first trip to Europe. I keep trying to recruit someone to go to England with me but they keep backing out. :( I hope to get there in the not to distant future. That is really exciting that you got to study there. I bet it was amazing.

  94. Judy F on 13 Apr 2007 at 5:31 pm #

  95. gannon on 13 Apr 2007 at 6:05 pm #

Miesa, I love England! I’ve been to London a couple of times and went to the Lake District many years ago. It was so lovely. I would love to go back sometime. Oh, so many places to go….

  96. Karen Hawkins on 13 Apr 2007 at 8:15 pm #

Oh Gannon, I’ve wanted to see the Lake District ever since I read about it in Pride and Prejudice.

And you guys are right about gelato, it doesn’t taste the same here. Neither does chocolate. I had a cup of hot chocolate the morning I got to Florence, exhausted after an all night train ride and waiting for my room at the palazzo hotel to be readied and it was PURE ambrosia. What made it better were all the hunky men. Man, they sure know how to grow them in Italy!!!

  97. Kelly Ann on 13 Apr 2007 at 8:22 pm #

Karen H. Yes, McCullough is a master at re-telling the past, he has a fantastic way of searching out information and turning it into readable material that fascinates. It’s a hard book to read sometimes, I have a vivid imagination and when I read it’s like having a movie play in my head! I will never be able to understand how so many can survive after surviving. I will have to read all of his books, I’m sure they will all be the same, excellent reading material! Have a good weekend.

  98. ericaleigh on 14 Apr 2007 at 3:46 pm #

Hello all you great goddesses! Can I just say that I always feel like I’m a day late and a dollar short?
    1. Book I finished at 2am Pride and Pregnancy by Karen Templeton. 2. This is where my day late comes in. Checking out the site early morning or late night depending on who you ask, somewhere around 2am-ish. If I still worked at an office, for sure I’d be online when I should be “working”.

  100. Karen Hawkins on 14 Apr 2007 at 4:26 pm #

ericaleigh, bots are just programs that decide which sites are getting the most hits and gets the site listed on google, yahoo search, etc. So don’t let them bother you! We have spam filters and they’re pretty good, I must say!

Btw, I am going to send you High Hopes that you get a fluffy little dog one day. I know my big not-so-fluffy dog adds a LOT to my life even though, like you, I had to wait until the time was right to get him. :)

  101. ericaleigh on 14 Apr 2007 at 4:42 pm #

Thanks Karen! I know its kind of silly, but I was starting to feel like one of the techno idiots. Thanks also for the hopes :).

    6. Hubby and I have 4 girls…he likes to call us The House of Hormones. We’ve got an almost 16 year old, a 14 year old, a 9 year old, and our little diva is 4.

    7. My full screen name is MAD4ROMBKS. But on the boards I’m known as Mad. I love my screen name…when my friend and I were debating what name to use when I bought my first computer, I said it had to fit me…fit one of my passions/obsessions and we ended up with mad for romance books, which we had to shorten to make it fit. :)

    8. Grey’s, baby! I love that show…lotta eye candy on it that I never tire of looking at. LOL
