Scotsmen, kilts, and me … oh my!

Six Reasons Why I’m Writing a Series Featuring Scotsmen.

1) I want this to be me.

Mmmmmm!

2) I want one of these.

Please?

3) Or one of these: Sean Connery, Colin Firth, Ewan McGregor or Gerard Butler.

seanconnery1.jpgfirth.jpgewansoocute.jpgGerard B!

4) I’ve heard it said that a Scotman can really lift his pole. I’m from Missouri, the Show Me State.

Nuff said.

5) When I write, I like to include authentic details such as What DOES a Scotsman wear beneath his kilt? As a romance author and a writer-of-books-with-sexy-men-in-kilts, I am forced to Do Research.

Research, my dears. For YOU.

Don’t worry. You can thank me later.

6) Every goddess deserves the right to scratch her Scottish Itch once in a while, which is exactly what these hot new books featuring sexy Scotsmen will do!

I would like to apply for the position of research assistant. With all those Scots you may need one.

    Six reasons why you should hire me;

    1. 20+ years as Admin. Asst. - very good at screening potentials.

    2. Okay, I want one of those too.

    3. Experience with getting that which is “hard” to obtain.

    4. Extra set of hands can’t hurt.

    5. With that much research you could always use an extra set of eyes too.

    6. This itch isn’t easily scratched, fans need more books, I only want to help expedite that process.

  2. Karen Hawkins on 25 Feb 2007 at 10:36 am #

    Ashefrog,

You crack me up! But … good news! YOU’RE HIRED!

You are absolutely right; I can’t ‘handle’ all that manliness all by myself. Might as well share the wealth!

Karen who wants you to ‘research’ Colin Firth right away!

  3. gannon on 25 Feb 2007 at 10:36 am #

Oh, Karen, I’ll take one of those Scotsmen–particularly Sean Connery! We go to the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games in North Carolina every July (which is the largest clan gathering in the world–you think it would be in Scotland, wouldn’t you?) and I can tell you the many of those kilt wearing lads don’t wear anything beneath their kilt. Not that I got that up close and personal. After all, I have my DH to keep me happy. But when there’s a stiff breeze–no pun intended–or they don’t sit very carefully, you get an eyeful! Of course, I’m honor bound to look ;) Do you blame me?

  4. Manuelita on 25 Feb 2007 at 11:30 am #

Karen, how can you mention Scotsmen and not include Gerard Butler?!?! I think your blog should have included a picture of this Scotsman in a leather kilt. ;) (3rd row: http://www.dressedtokilt.com/tartan_day_apr6.html)

And he will soon be on the big screen wearing leather undies as King Leonidas in the movie 300!!

  5. Karen Hawkins on 25 Feb 2007 at 11:45 am #

Gannon, I’ve always wanted to go to the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games and you’ve pretty much convinced me that ah, I HAVE to go. And no, we don’t blame you. If you “accidentally” see, then you “accidentally” see!

Manuelita, perhaps you should check the post again. Maybe you missed something . . . !!!!

Karen who is sprinkling the Scotsman Magic around today

*scrambling to clear schedule to accommodate new assignment*

    Thank you Goddess Karen.

I shall not let them down, I mean let you down.

    BTW

Watching Desperado/Once Upon Time in Mexico

Antonio Banderas is smokin’ hot. Salma Hayek is beautiful.
Not a bad way to spend a rainy Sunday morning.

Can’t take time to post. Gotta get a flight to Scotland.

In exchange for Karen shamelessly plugging my book (thank you, Karen–the check is in the mail), I will share with y’all a link with PLENTY of kilted Scotsmen. Better yet, if you click on the pictures, you get to hear them talk in a variety of Scottish accents. Ooh, Mama!

Anyway, it’s a promo for a travel organization, so you vote on the hottest Scotsmen for a chance to win a trip to Scotland. Yes, I voted. You bet I did.

    http://www.dateahotscot.com/

Some of the guys are hotter than others, but those accents . . .

  9. AndreaW on 25 Feb 2007 at 12:48 pm #

*big sigh* Thanks for starting my day off on just the right note, Karen. Now I need to wipe the drool from my keyboard. *g*

  10. gannon on 25 Feb 2007 at 1:16 pm #

Oooh, Sabrina, thanks for sharing the website! Handsome Scottish men with lovely accents–what’s not to love! A great way to start my day.

  11. Manuelita on 25 Feb 2007 at 2:11 pm #

Karen ~ LOL!!! Well, that was some pretty quick editing. THANK YOU!!

Manuelita - wishing she were in Scotland …

  12. diamondlil on 25 Feb 2007 at 2:40 pm #

I am VERY partial to a Scottish man in a kilt, and the stories abou them!

  13. OV_099 on 25 Feb 2007 at 3:12 pm #

You mentioned and showed every single one of my favorite scots, and in the order of preference too! Sean. . . love him. Loved him since the beginning of high school, 1990. Sigh. Colin’s a more recent (last year) addition, but he sure works great with lakes on English states! And Ewan McGregor sure knows how to handle a lightsaber. .. and Gerry can sing Point of No Return to me anytime! :)

    Lois

  14. Karen Hawkins on 25 Feb 2007 at 4:03 pm #

Lois, I’d name your post: Lois’s Fave Scottish Performances. Heck YES Gerry can sing Point of No Return! And Ewan’s light saber … be still my heart!

But I have to admit that Colin’s dip in the pond is an absolute fave with me. He is simply YUMMMMMM in P & P.

    Happy sigh!

  15. Claudia Dain on 25 Feb 2007 at 4:43 pm #

Colin Firth is Scottish? I had no idea I was such a sucker for a Scotsman.

Gerard Butler…I lost my heart to him with the first note out of his mouth. Point of No Return is about the sexiest song ever written and he does it complete justice.

Karen, we seem to be jonesing on the same men. I hope this doesn’t mean I’m going to have to kill you at some point.

  16. julia london on 25 Feb 2007 at 5:28 pm #

Sabrina, I love that dateascot site!! The only problem is, there are way too many of them to choose from! How to choose, how to choose!

Do you think if I won they’d be miffed if I showed up with my husband? He’d have golf clubs strapped to his back and would probably beg off the date to hit the links. HE can’t believe any woman would fall for a guy in a skirt, so he feels pretty comfortable in letting me date one, LOL

  17. Kelly Ann on 25 Feb 2007 at 6:17 pm #

I think we should have a Goddess Conference in Scotland!

  18. Kelly Ann on 25 Feb 2007 at 6:26 pm #

Sabrina, I voted for Bob Hanlon! He would be an excelled cover for a scottish laird book! Fortunately, before they could draw him, he would have to remove just a little of his clothing!

  19. FilmPhan on 25 Feb 2007 at 6:38 pm #

If that is too much for you to research, Karen, you could always send Gerard Butler my way. I would gladly research him for you. I can’t wait to see him in “300″! You’ll be seeing me at the theater on March 9th for sure.

  20. Karen Hawkins on 25 Feb 2007 at 6:58 pm #

Claudia, I am afraid we may indeed come to blows if you start hogging all the Scotsmen. However, if you feel you can SHARE … I am not an unreasonable woman.

Julia, my boyfriend said the same thing. “A guy in a skirt? You gotta be kidding?” I just smiled and pointed to the guy in #2. My boyfriend looked, his brows went up and he said, “Ohhhhhhh.”

    “Ohhhhhh” indeed!

FilmFan, I’ve got the date for “300″ marked myself! I can’t wait — he is SUCH a sexy guy. I feel badly that I forgot him and poor Manuelita had to remind me … about GERARD BUTLER. Sheesh!

  21. dbrown3400 on 25 Feb 2007 at 8:27 pm #

Right after they pick up their new kilts, don’t they head on over to Victoria’s Secret for Scotsmen? They might not put on much, but it should be fun to take off.

  22. Jessica on 25 Feb 2007 at 9:18 pm #

I was just accepted to do my masters in History at the University of Glasgow so I’d be happy to issue any report required on Scots. Sadly, I won’t be going over until September. =(

I’m a sucker for Gerry signing Music of the Night.

  23. Sabrina Jeffries on 25 Feb 2007 at 11:21 pm #

    Jessica,
Can you put me in your suitcase? Please????

  24. Karen Hawkins on 26 Feb 2007 at 12:15 am #

Sabrina, there won’t be room for you in Jessica’s suitcase. I’ve already sent her a check and she said she’d pack ME.

U of Glasgow … all those Scotmen … oh my!

  25. Susan K on 26 Feb 2007 at 7:13 pm #

I love Gerard Butler!!!! Especially in Phantom. Yummy! Ewan McGregor makes my knees week. Those scotsmen as so hot!

  26. Jessica on 26 Feb 2007 at 10:16 pm #

Sabrina and Karen-you are both more than welcome to come with me to Glasgow. I’ll just have to leave behind Plutarch and Chaucer and the rest of the wonderful history/lit books that I keep insisting I might need.

If you hear of a kilt bandit on the prowl come September well that’s me. Humm…Gerard Butler is going to stay away from Glasgow now. LOL!

  27. KMB25 on 28 Feb 2007 at 12:53 am #

    Gannon,
Did you get to the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games this past summer? I had a blast…I’m the fiddle player with the Blair band…man…let me tell ya–I seriously wouldn’t have minded getting a good look up under Aya from Albannach’s kilt!

On another note…I have a Kilt Inspector tank top if anyone wants to borrow it…it’s come in handy in the past!..hehe.

    Hello,
Just a note to say “Hi” from a Scotsman.
